Lack of Customer Support and Unjust Charges Following Return – Afterpay I am submitting this complaint regarding an unresolved issue involving Afterpay and its partnered merchant, Dick’s Sporting Goods. This situation has led to improper billing practices, a lack of transparency, and an unfair financial burden placed on me as the consumer—despite my repeated and timely efforts to resolve the issue through the appropriate channels. I have already submitted formal complaints through both the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the FTC. Afterpay has demonstrated a serious lack of customer service, offering no effective way to work collaboratively with customers to resolve disputes. Their delays, miscommunication, and unwillingness to take responsibility have only prolonged the issue and added unnecessary stress and financial strain.

Afterpay makes you spend more than u can afford to Bad company. They bait you to spend more by increasing your limit and they do this without even assessing if you can afford it. Before you know it you are paying $500 per fortnight. And the minute you delay your payments they close your account just like that. I would encourage for Everyone to just save your money to buy something. Dont use afterpay, it doesnt encourage you to save and temps you to spend more and more and then you end up paying a huge amount of debt each fortnight.

Complete Shit, I have been a loyal Afterpay customer for years, paying on time and doing the right thing. Afterpay lifted my limit to $4000.00 which was fine, I have never gone past the limit, not even close. I have always paid on time, I miss one week of making all the payments on time, I made about 50% however being self-employed can lead to cashflow problems. I'm late by one day and the Bastards restrict my limit, with out warning I might add, to $2500.00 claiming that they 'May' do this if you are late. If someone is constantly late then fine, I'm late once in many years and they pull this shit. When I complain, I'm told to Bugger off, after many years of loyal custom and doing the right thing, this is how Afterpay reward you. What a pack of arseholes.

STAY AWAY !!! I purchased 4 items and paid using Afterpay. I paid the amount in full before I had to return 2 items. I have contacted both services. They are saying it is the other one fault. Now they are telling me that they do not owe me any money. The return should have been sent to the card on file. Nope, nothing. Now they are just telling me they are referring me to the experts. They even told me I owed them the amount to be returned to me. They don't listen nor do they pay attention to anything that is sent to them or given to them over the phone. This will be the last time I use them for anything. If I could afford a lawyer, I would sue them, unfortunately, I don't.

I have had the most difficult time trying to close my account when I realized that it had been hacked and some of my information being used. I had made this request via email (as there is no phone number to speak to an actual representative). They responded by requesting information - which I supplied. Then they asked for more information, which I gave them that as well. Then they asked for more information again. Total of 3 requests, instead of asking for all information at the start. Part of that last request was looking for information on the last time I used their service for a purchase. However, I can NOT access any of my account information because the of the hacker. I explained this to them and then there was a request for me to upload my driver's license or passport! Under no circumstances, am I comfortable doing this when I already have my information exposed. This issue is still unresolved and I am left in the dark still worrying how much of my information has been stolen.

AND SOME OF THE REPS ARE VERY RUDE ... SOME PEOPLE CAN REALLY MAKE PAYMENTS AND THEY WILL NOT GIVE SECOND CHANCES.. THERE ARE BIGGER LOAN COMPANIES WILLING AND GIVING SECOND CHANCHES TO CUSTOMERS.... I AM IN AHHH HOW THE BUSINESS IS... I HAD A FRAUDELANT TRANSACTION WITH BANK AND WAS HACKED AND COULD NOT MAKE PAYMENTS TO NOTHING AND NO EXCUSE FROM THEM THEY BLOCKED ME AND NOT USE THEM AGAIN.. ANNOYING AND HURTING.. HOPE NEVER HAPPENS TO THEM... AND THE HURTING THING EVER SOMEONE HACKED ME WAS FROM CA NEVER BEEN THERE...

Afterpay will still make you pay after an item has been returned & takes long to process. The return was from Coach outlet. I will not use service again. They need to learn the process from ******.

Extortionists Would rate less if I could. Used to be a decent service that actually had your back with decent customer service. Now they hold you to ransom and refuse to assist when merchants refuse to provide what you have paid for. They refuse to give you any kind of assistance or protections and enable merchants to scam you and then essentially extort the money out of you via payments even though you never recieved what you have paid for. Their customer service is terrible and basically just goes "not our problem". They refuse to suspend payments etc until investigations into merchants not providing goods have been concluded. They have no sympathy or decency whatsoever. I was a loyal customer for years but they have clearly changed and dont care who they screw over. Use literally any other service they would be better than having to deal with this.

Second time someone was able to set up an account with my email. They need to have other measures to avoid this. Both times someone created account with my email and added their own mobile number. Yet no email verification check ….. please fix this asap!!!

I used Afterpay regularly. I will no longer use them. I had an order from Temu that never left their warehouse. It was done through Afterpay. When I got my check I paid after pay IN FULL I have screen shots dated with my zero balance. I have copies of my bank statement. Temu refunded Afterpay my money $133.00 Afterpay is saying I owed them money still even though I have proof that I didnt! Theyve paid me back $66. I will NEVER use them again and I think they need to be shut down as I keep messaging them only to get an AI responding. Its impossible to talk to a LIVE person!!

Customer service stinks ! Afterpay should have better protocols on updating phone numbers and information if you havnt used your account in years . They denied me service because I couldn’t tell them an old phone number I had over 5 years ago ! I’ve changed addresses and numbers at LEAST 3 times since and they expect me to tell them the exact number and address without no hint or anything . that’s ridiculous ! How am I supposed to know that by heart ? I guess I won’t ever be updating my account or using Afterpay ever again. Thanks for nothing

Afterpay has not resolved my dispute with my order I placed with fashion nova on 12/11/2024. This was over a $200.00 order after several failed email attempts to fashion nova they only sent me a tracking number that said my items shipped out and that's not true. I contacted *** they stated that fashion nova only created a shipping label but never gave my order to **** I reached out to afterpay to help me with this situation which took them forever to respond just to say I have to allow fashion nova time to respond to the dispute. I asked how long must I wait never got a response to that question. I'm over it I will not continue to make payments to a merchant that will not provide me with updates on my order. I do feel as though fashion nova are scammers as afterpay will not provide me with the refund for the 2 payments I have made for my order thus far. I'm highly upset about this matter and I feel as though afterpay needs to do better research on the company's that they allow to sell merchandise through their app. They (afterpay) should atleast have a phone number so you can talk to a live person when a issue like this happen. I have made all payments on time but now afterpay will lose my business for sure as there poor way of handling customer issues.

They WILL steal your money. Afterpay will steal your money and ADMITN IT if you do not recieve an item or return an item. They will simply take both your money and the money from the merchant - double the profit.

Beware of Afterpay!!!! Initially I my discrepancy was with a merchant that is hosted on Afterpays platform. I purchased goods through afterpay and paid off the “buy now, pay later” service of it few weeks later. I was 3 weeks after purchase, there were no shipping updates on my purchase, so I emailed merchant asking to cancel order, as I didn’t realize order would take this long to complete, along with me moving to new address and wanting to avoid forwarding packages. Merchant, still couldn’t provide any shipping updates and didn’t want to cancel order. I waited 2 more weeks, hoping for atleast an update on my order and still never got one. At this point, I am not happy with merchant as we are on 5-6 weeks later and no updates on my order, and due to poor communication, poor business practices, no updates on shipping, my only resolution is was to cancel my order and request refund. Merchant offered partial refund, I did not agree. At this point, I filed a dispute with Afterpay. The merchant contacted me gaslighting me, by mentioning he was going cancel and do a full refund until I did the dispute. Afterpay did an “investigation” and determined nothing wrong, which is a joke itself because merchant took pics of products that wasn’t even mine to seem like my order was ready. All Afterpay has done is try to pass the buck to the merchant. No accountability or responsibility for a merchant who is hosted on there platform. Still as of 12/16, I have not received product or shipping updates and purchase was made 11/1. At this point, I am very disappointed in Afterpay and how they handled this issue. I am a 100% permanently disabled veteran who does not deserve to be taken advantage of by merchant or Afterpay.
