The worst airline I've ever flown with I have been travelling annually for over 12 years between Hong Kong, the US and the UK. I have never had an experience as bad as travelling with Aer Lingus this summer. I have never flown Lingus before and the issues began as far back as when booking our flights. Flying from Philadelphia to Manchester, my wife and I originally wanted to book the flight that transferred in Dublin. However, the website would not let either of us book anything from Hong Kong. In hindsight I realise this was the universe telling us not to bother and I wish I'd listened. We booked an Air Canada flight, transferring in Toronto but, due to the wildfires, this was rebooked (without our consent) onto the Aer Lingus PHI>DUB>MAN flight. As previously stated, we preferred that flight so were quite happy initially. But little did we know. The first flight was due to leave on the 18th at 20:25 and get us to Manchester for 11am the next day. However, after boarding late we sat on the runway for hours before being told we had to return to the gate. There were mixed messages as to why this was. The pilot said it was due to weather, other staff mentioned missing a flight window. But the loudest message came from the stewards themselves who, when asked by a number of panicked passengers at risk of missing their connections, responded with a very unhelpful "well you must think of us poor workers too, we also dont know where we're going to stay tonight." On a human level, sure, they're in the same boat as the passengers. However, from a service point of view, that seemed unprofessional and unhelpful in equal measure. Unprofessional was then what we experienced every step of the next 40 hours as Aer Lingus dropped ball after ball. After disembarking the plane, staff decided to line people up at the boarding gate to give the same message to each individual group. This was essentially "leave an email address and we'll contact you". Why they couldn't have given that message to everyone at once, who knows. We were told by AL staff there were no hotels available so we went to collect our bags and had to find our own hotel for the night (ending up in Delaware). This was all at 2am, with a 7 year old child. It turns out that there was a hotel put in for some passengers but Im not sure how they found this out. The next flight (a 'recovery' flight) was put on for the next day at 10pm. This too was delayed boarding, which means many of us were left fearing missing our dublin connections. One poor lass had a panic attack at the gate due to this. To top it off, once we had finally boarded, the stewards had the nerve to ask for a round of applause from passengers for the staff that "helped get us in the air". My wife had already put in a claim to the customer service at Aer Lingus for the hotel room and that was a terrible experience in itself, but the AL staff at PHI told us this could be done in person when we got to Dublin. When we did arrive in Dublin (yes, we'd missed our connecting flight) they (the AL flight connections desk) told us any compensation claims had to be done online and that AL staff in PHI weren't really AL staff and just "carriers" which had zero relevance to us and seemed like a weak way of passing the buck. The attitudes of the girls on that desk was atrocious too. Arrogant, flippant and more interested in the snacks they had brought in than dealing with customers who were already delayed and being delayed further more. We finally arrived in Manchester over 40 hours after our due time to find that our bags had not followed us. Global baggage solutions in Manchester told us thay Aer Lingus knowingly put our bags on a later flight due to weight limits, even though this was not mentioned at any time to us. Our plans were already ruined as we were supposed to be driving straight up to the lake district for a family gathering, but now we had no luggage, no easy address to deliver them to and, even better, had lost our car hire booking that resulted in us having to pay almost 2000GBP (yes, thousand) for a suitable car that would take us where we needed to go. Aer lingus assured us that the bags would be with us by 8am the next morning. They arrived at about 4pm. We have now entered 3 separate customer service cases for reimbursement of costs and we have still had zero reply. I can only imagine this company is going out of business soon as they obviously don't have the resources, capacity or decency to operate in a way that is sustainable. We will never fly lingus again, and will tell as many people as possible about our experience

1 Star – Aer Lingus Customer Care Failed to Be Transparent My experience with Aer Lingus Customer Care has been extremely disappointing. After returning from my flight, I discovered that two of my suitcases had been damaged while in Aer Lingus' care. My claim was handled by the Customer Care Team. I was told to purchase replacement luggage and submit itemised receipts for reimbursement. Before spending any money, I specifically asked what value of replacement luggage I should be looking for and whether there was a maximum reimbursement limit. Rather than answering my question, I received another generic response telling me to buy replacement luggage and submit the receipts. Following those instructions, I purchased the closest available replacements to my damaged suitcases. The exact models were no longer available, so I bought similar cases from the same retailer at a total cost of £268. Only after submitting my receipts did Aer Lingus inform me that they would reimburse just £138, citing "maximum liability." This information should have been provided before I was instructed to purchase replacement luggage. Had Kerolos or the Customer Care Team simply told me there was a reimbursement cap of £138, I could have made an informed purchasing decision. Instead, I was encouraged to buy replacement luggage without being given the most important piece of information. The issue is not just the reduced reimbursement—it's the lack of transparency and poor communication throughout the claims process. Aer Lingus had multiple opportunities to explain their reimbursement limit when I asked directly, but failed to do so. Customers should not be expected to absorb over half the replacement cost of luggage that was damaged while in the airline's care because essential information was withheld until after they had spent their own money. This experience has left me with very little confidence in Aer Lingus Customer Care. I expected honesty, transparency and accountability. Instead, I was met with generic responses, poor communication and a reimbursement process that feels misleading.

Terrible Customer Service I flew Aer Lingus four times from Orlando, FL to Dublin, IE. I made a fifth reservation, and asked for pre-approval to wear a defibrillator vest on board due to a heart problem, and they denied me permission and refused to refund my ticket price. I had to make and pay for another reservation on United Airlines, who had no problem with the vest. In fact, TSA had no problem with it, Dublin Airport security had no problem with it, and I flew from Florida to Dublin and back without incident. I wrote to Aer Lingus pleading with them to refund my ticket, and they still refused. They advertise "Cheap Flights to Europe", but my ticket with United was $600 cheaper than my ticket on Aer Lingus. Their flight attendants are rude, their flights are crowded and there are not enough restrooms. I don't plan to fly Aer Lingus in the future, and I don't recommend that you do either.

It is nearly impossible to get on the phone to resolve my problem. Have called everyday for 4 straight days, waited at least a minimum 1 hour. I have never gotten thru to anyone. And worst now I can't get their on-hold music out of my head..

A friend and I booked an Aer Lingus flight to Scotland for June 2025. Today I get an email saying the flight is canceled and I can get a Full Cash Refund. I apply immediately for the cash refund so I can book flights on another airline as Aer Lingus doesn’t have any other flights. I get a response back an hour later that says that I do NOT quality for a refund. I call customer service and they tell me the same thing- I do not qualify for a refund. I read her the email that was sent to me that says I do qualify for a refund. She tells me to attach a copy of the email to the denial but it’s a Do Not reply email. My ticket cost over $1700.00 and I need that money back before I can book another flight with another airline! What a JOKE of an airline!!!!

I no longer feel safe flying with Aer Lingus due to their lack of care and professionalism. My recent business class flight from LA to Dublin with my two small children was the worst travel experience I’ve had in over a decade of flying with them. Not only did they fail to assist me as a solo parent, but they also mishandled my stroller, ignored requests, and didn’t provide basic redeye flight essentials. Safety and trust come from the service an airline provides, and Aer Lingus has failed on all fronts. I urge families and those seeking a premium experience to avoid this airline.

If losing luggage were an Olympic sport, Aer Lingus would take home the gold. My bag disappeared into the abyss of their care, and weeks later, I’m left with nothing but their hollow promises echoing in my ears. Their customer service team could write a bestselling book titled “How to Say the Right Things Without Actually Doing Anything.” Every call begins with empathy, sprinkled with reassuring phrases like, “We’ll escalate this immediately.” Spoiler alert: immediately is Aer Lingus code for “never.” I’ve given up hoping they’ll find my belongings—I'm now just curious if their lost luggage department is a black hole where all the unclaimed bags of the world congregate for a wild party. Perhaps my favorite jeans and laptop are sipping piña coladas somewhere. Aer Lingus, if you’re reading this, I don’t need another scripted apology. I need my bag. Or reimbursement. Or maybe just honesty: “Your luggage is gone, and we have no clue how to fix it.” At least that would be refreshingly transparent. If you’re flying with Aer Lingus, pack light—and keep your essentials strapped to your body like a survivalist preparing for the apocalypse. Trusting them with your bags? That’s a gamble even Vegas wouldn’t touch. In conclusion: Aer Lingus, where bags go to vanish and complaints go to die. 1 star (because I can't give zero).

Our check in with Aer Lingus has to be the worst I’ve experienced with traveling. One ticket agent available to process so many customers. It took about two hours to finally get checked in at Edinburgh airport to fly to Dublin. Security was terrible as well. Finally, arrived to our destination. Our luggage did not make it on the plane from Edinburgh to Dublin. Customer service said there wasn’t enough room on the plane for it. Yet it wasn’t a full flight. We called again to get an update. Aer Lingus customer service didn’t seem to care one ounce about our missing luggage. Worst airlines I’ve ever flown. Do better.

I flew from Boston USA to Dublin to Madrid. My one piece of luggage was left in Dublin. It was flown to Madrid, but I never received my things. It took 2 hours to report my lost bag in Madrid. I flew from Boston to Dublin to Madrid. My one bag was lost, and I spent my whole vacation in Madrid waiting for it to be delivered "the next day". It never arrived. The new clothes I had to buy were carried around by me in a plastic bag like a homeless person. My bag finally made it to my permanent address when I returned home. I am waiting 4 months for reimbursement for my purchases. I sent receipts 3 times. Nothing. They didn't even give me a toothbrush when I reported lost luggage!! Do NOT fly Aer Lingus.

Found out our flight was cancelled when already en route to the airport. They would not refund taxi receipts because they were hand written. Took 3 taxis- back to hotel to try for a room and back to airport the next day. Took 3 flights home instead of 2 causing an additional charge to pack our duty free purchases in Rome. Still no refund after over 1 month.

Excellent customer experience Please make sure that this message gets to the right people/person. In July, 2024, my partner and I had to change our Aer Lingus flight from LHR to SNN, due to an anticipated industrial action. We were rebooked on British Airways to Dublin and advised to travel by train from Dublin to Shannon, adding 3+ hours to an already exhausting international flight full of delays and tight connections. Once at LHR, we learned that the strike never materialized. All the changes were unnecessary. I spoke to an agent at the Aer Lingus counter who directed me to her supervisor, Christopher Groom. Christopher is a hardworking man who deserves recognition. He was pulled in every direction at the same time, by staff and customers. One by one, he paused to give his individualized attention. When it was our turn, he listened, locked his computer, found someone to cover for him, hustled across the airport to British Airways, and collaborated to change us back to a direct Aer Lingus flight to SNN on a better, earlier flight. Christopher? I hope you're reading this. I'm sorry it has taken nearly 6 months to write you a fitting review, but you were noticed and appreciated. You deserve to be treated the way you treat your customers. I hope your holidays are restful and that you receive a pay increase or promotion in the coming year. Thanks for being such a patient problem solver. You're what customer service should look like.

Aer Lingus and vouchers are not a good combination Aer Lingus refuses to exchange Corona vouchers for money. Even if you can no longer use the voucher because you are no longer flying. The money will then automatically be transferred to Aer Lingus. Customer service is difficult to reach, and if someone is there, they apologize for this approach. Nothing happens via email. You get a number and that's it. I will never book through Aer Lingus again

I would note this review with a zero I could. Aer Lingus Customer service is absolutely the worst I have ever experienced. When requested, you cannot speak to a person is charge. You will be told that someone will call back. However, that never happens. Most of the representatives are courteous and professional. However, they cannot provide you with updated information. I will never use aer Lingus ever again. The reasons for this review are too lengthy to note.

2024 did a trip covering the areas in the UK and ending in Dublin, Ireland. Arrived in London via British Airways and scheduled to leave Dublin via Aer Lingus. I flew/fly economy in all flights, so I am not expecting anything extra, but on ling flights for the most part airlines provide a little more. There was a stark difference between BA and AL. The seating was almost bear minimum. I was surprised when I asked for coffee and was told no, and that we would be getting ice-cream soon. This was an 11 hour flight scheduled to arrive at 10:00 a.m. This while the person in front of me me was provided with unlimited snacks and seconds on dinner. So bizarre.

Our trip to Ireland from Cleveland was great once we arrived in Ireland. My wife's name was misspelled on her e-ticket causing us considerable aggravation. The ticket agent was on the phone for 1 hour trying to get this corrected. We just made our flight with her assistance. The seats were very uncomfortable. The meal was terrible. Upon leaving Ireland, we had our assigned seats via an email I had on my phone. They printed our boarding passes and split us up. We both ended up with middle row seats, 3 rows apart. Again the meal service was terrible. Again the seats were very uncomfortable. We did not enjoy the flight experiences with Aer Lingus.

Paid $14,000+ for two first class tickets Dublin. They lost all our luggage and will it update us. Spoke to a lady in customer service named Emma who needed to give her last name or help in any way other than telling me to call another number. We were told we would have a luggage delivered directly to our hotel which has not happened and they will not give us an update. I asked for reimbursement for all the things we have had to buy since we don’t have our luggage and I was told to submit receipts to possibly get a “partial reimbursement”. I wish I could go back and fly Delta instead.

O they are so bad, wished I never booked with them. Our baggage has been missing now for 5 days and we can't reach anybody. Not on the phone (4 tries...after 4, 5 hours on hold they end the connection), not by email, not via their tracking system, not via X chat and not via Facebook chat.

I want to give bad review about Aer Lingus. Today was panic day and worse experience ever I had. They make us late to check in and say, "You have time. Let us serve people who don't have time". And then they check in after they issue boarding pass. I was at gate 25 min early still they didn't take us and forced me to pay £120 and make me run 3 time from service desk to gate.
