We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Tshokwane River Camp. We flew in to Skukuza where we were met by Ethan. All the staff were super-friendly and helpful at all times. We took full advantage of what the camp offered and went on a bush walk (5.6kms) which was wonderful. The two rangers that took the walk, Neil and Greg, were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We went on all the game drives and saw leopard, lion, cheetah and lots more. Guides are knowledgeable about all the birds, animals and surrounding areas. The tent was extremely comfortable and we loved our "shower butler" Tsebo. Will we go again? Absolutely! We're booking our spot for next year...

What made the experience truly exceptional was the way he partnered so effortlessly with Master, our local guide. Watching the two of them work in tandem was a masterclass in synergy; their shared respect for the land and for each other’s skills created an atmosphere of total trust and discovery. Together, they opened our eyes to a side of nature we had never seen before.

Our time in Botswana with Ecotraining and the Tracker Academy was honestly one of the most meaningful travel experiences we’ve ever had—far beyond a typical safari.
What sets it apart is the depth of connection. This isn’t just about spotting wildlife; it’s about learning how to see it. Spending time with Renias, our main tracker, was a masterclass in attention and instinct. The way he reads the landscape—every footprint, broken branch, shift in wind or silence—completely reframed how we moved through the bush. There’s a quiet authority to him that you feel immediately, but also a generosity in how he shares that knowledge.
Alongside him, Master, our ranger at Great Plains Explorers Camp in Selinda Spillway, brought a different but equally valuable lens—bridging that deep tracking knowledge with broader context, storytelling, and an incredible sense of place. The dynamic between the two of them made each drive feel layered and intentional, never just observational.
The Okavango itself is obviously spectacular—floodplains, winding channels, wildlife everywhere—but what made the trip unforgettable was the human element. The trackers carry generations of knowledge, and there’s something powerful about seeing that being preserved and passed on through the Academy’s work. You come away with a much deeper appreciation not just for the ecosystem, but for the people who understand it most intimately.
It also never felt performative or overly curated. The experience was thoughtful, grounded, and respectful—more about immersion than spectacle. There’s a real sense of purpose behind everything, which gives the trip weight.
If anything, it shifts your perspective a bit. You arrive expecting a safari and leave thinking about legacy, knowledge systems, and what it means to truly pay attention.
