Work & Tot is a wonderful place to work and an even more wonderful place to bring your child. My daughter spent most of last summer in their camp and she absolutely loved the engagement and activities provided there. The owner (Anna) inspired my daughter's artistic creativity and helped develop her love of art. I've worked here several times without children as well and the office is always quiet, clean, and the amenities are great. I would recommend Work & Tot for anyone needing a working space or for anyone looking for camp/activities for their child!
My five year old has been thoroughly enjoying the summer camp at Work and Tot -- it is a small sized program with lots of individual attention and care. I highly recommend this space for kids who love arts and crafts! My son comes home with all kinds of lovely creations from camp (artisanal soaps, pop up cards, resin art, etc), and always asks to go back. The owner, Anna, is a mom herself, so she definitely understands parenting and all that is involved!
I was in the area, needed a quiet place to work, and found Work & Tot. It blew me away. Very impressed. I got what I came for: a quiet spot, solid WiFi, and a room to make conference rooms if need to. It has this and more. Anna is so nice, and really has a great relationship with her customers. The day pass (this not many co-working places offer) was so affordable and flexible. Will be back when I'm in the area!
Miraculously, I stumbled upon this incredible coworking space in Forest Hills - and my experience was 110%. I communicated directly with Anna (the owner) and she made sure I had exactly what I needed to work quietly and productively. She also went above and beyond by supporting me with personal logistics that came up on short notice. So grateful to have found this place :)
I highly recommend Work &Tot. I will break this review up into the two main services they offer as I have availed myself of both. As the name implies, this space can be used for both co-work and for child care/enrichment. But you can choose to use just one service if that is all you need; they are separately offered. If it seems like I really know what I’m talking about below, it is because I found out about this program when my daughter was lucky enough to be in the same 1st grade class with the son of the owner, Ms. Anna. Talk about serendipity!!
Work Space: If you are a remote working professional, the co-work space is wonderful. It is a very large open concept space with multiple working stations, plush leather chairs, outlets for days, a printer, scanner, a recliner and a water, coffee and tea station. To top it all off, there’s a sound proof booth you may reserve at no extra cost and based on availability. The booth is very comfortable, well lit and with a transparent door, it has outlets, ventilation and a board to post your brainstorming ideas as you collaborate with your remote teams. The aesthetic of the co-work space is wooden rustic with soft tones and soft lighting; no fluorescent bulbs here! There is even a hospital-grade air purifying machine. The entire side wall has large window panes overlooking Queens Blvd in the heart of Forest Hills so there is tons of natural light even on the gloomiest of days.
Tot Space: I have a 6 year old who I bring for the after school pod, which is from 2:45pm to 6:15pm. I’ll start with what sold me. Your child comes home with their homework completed as there is an actual teacher on staff to assist them with their assignments…!!! The burden this lifts off my shoulders is immense. This is a teacher who understands todays DOE standards like common core. I can’t speak highly enough about this service. The after school pod is held within 2 rooms: 1 is the very large playroom that has puzzles, toys, an art table, and mini constructions they may crawl within and explore their imagination. The 2nd room is classroom style with a U-configuration of tables and chairs, a television for instructional videos, etc. This 2nd room is where the homework magic happens. Both rooms are strictly no shoes, which goes a long way in managing for germs. Masks are not required, so you can choose to take that extra precaution or not. I’ve noticed the teacher tends to be masked.
Last note on the Tot Space. For many DOE-recognized holidays, this location offers a day camp. There, your children can take part in science and art enrichment. The owner, Ms. Anna, tends to lead these as I recently found out, to my delight, that she is an SVA-educated artist. During the first camp my daughter attended, they learned about geology and dug for rocks and minerals as well as led some experiments using magnets. During the 2nd camp she attended, Ms. Anna led them in a print-making session and I believe they also made lava lamps. I was quite busy around Halloween time and, to my surprise, Ms. Anna also offered to take the kiddos Trick or Treating to the local businesses on Austin St which I continued upstairs availing myself of the work space. If any of the kiddos or parents did not wish their child to participate in Trick or Treating, the after school teacher remained upstairs with them and kept them engaged in fun activities. I’ve even learned that when the children seem so energetic that they have issues with transitioning to the next thing, Ms. Anna leads them in group meditation and deep breathing which then helps the kiddos to move on. It has all been just wonderful and I cannot say enough good things!
It is testament alone that every time upon pickup, my kids absolutely do not want to leave Work & Tot! And this is after an extended day of 9 or so hours. My two kids, ages 6 and 8, have been in so many programs over the years, and Work & Tot is the one by and far that the kids (and we as parents) have enjoyed the most. We get photo updates of what they are up to throughout the day, and it is clear they are very intellectually stimulated, learning and having so much fun. Work & Tot is a gem in Forest Hills, and we are so grateful for this high quality learning option for the kids. It is a clean, safe and joyful place we look forward to visiting always. Thank you for everything!
Anna is so welcoming and friendly and creates a very work and parent friendly environment. Both my wife and I work from home, and we use this space as a release valve for those days when one of us just needs to focus on work. Our child is still young, but we are looking forward to when she can enroll in the classes they offer. I want to recommend the space to everyone in the Forest Hills area, but also want to keep this as a great little secret. It's like telling everyone about your favorite cafe: you want to help them get business, but don't want to show up someday with a long line just to get a latte.
A wonderful and well-executed concept! A much-needed space where kids get supervised play & educational classes + their parents / caregivers can focus on their work or side hustles. The location is right by the Rego Park subway and bus stations, and the space itself is very clean and includes a separate room for kids and a co-working space for adults. Lots of COVID-safe details like partitions at tables, air filters, masks required, etc.
I took my daughter to some of the special spring break classes, and she enjoyed them a lot - the owner Anna really thought them through to make sure the kids learn & have fun at the same time. I hope she'll be putting together more classes like these in the near future.
Anna (owner) has gone above and beyond with this place. It has a little something for everyone. For professionals it's a great work space that is COVID safe and quiet and has a soundproof booth if you need to make calls. My experience has been with my son though, she also does a remote learning pod and after school classes. It's a great setup for learning with the bonus of a great playroom for breaks. My son loves to go there. I would recommend to anyone.
Although I don't have a child, the space is perfect for kids and adults! They have cool classes for kids and dedicated space for adults to work. I got the day pass to work there when there was a a major internet outage in my building and it was just what I needed! There's privacy with sound proof phone booth. It was clean and comfortable - plexi glass and partitions at each desk! Must needed for covid. It's also convenient right by the subway and local stores. I am planning to go back for the rest of the week while my internet is down.
This unique environment is so conducive to a focused area of didactic learning and catering to remote learning that is so needed in this desperate time. My 5 year old daughter actually remains focused and even enjoys remote classes under the mediating and enhancement of the core instruction via the owner, Ana Gold Yu. I saw my daughter initially struggled with writing straight within the confines of lined paper and writing the expected backwards "d" and "b" and the number 3. Within 1 day of fun and play based learning added to the mix of basic instruction, she conquered this with Ana like a champion! Lets face it. Even at a ripe age of 5, Forest Hills parents and Rego Park alike, obsess over exceptional early formal instruction. Though I am not of that breed, Ana showed me how effortless it was for her to merely get her on the right track of writing and making it fun at that. My daughter also enjoys her after school playspace resource and even excitedly describes her science experiments to me while jumping up and down - making crystal and mineral formations from a rudimentary substance, fostering the growth and new formation of plant life among others. I am simply a working mom with no creativity whatsoever when it comes to learning and crafts and ever so grateful that not only during this uncertain time, we have a reliable and creative resource and learning depot for our child, but a safe and colorful place of joy and nurture to withstand this time of altered social and learning environments. Bravo to this wonderful facility! It is a haven to our family!
