This is both a review and a slightly more formal “thank you” to Gary and Chef Jim and the staff at Wine Down. Last month my husband(!) and I held our reception there after a small mountaintop wedding, and I couldn’t recommend working with this crew more highly. From the attitudes of the staff on the day of our event, to the food and drink selection, to the planning process, we were blown away.
The staff truly defined hospitality with their warmth and attentiveness. No empty plates sat on tables and no empty glasses were left unfilled. I genuinely felt these folks were excited alongside us—every interaction was met with a smile.
Chef Jim is a treasure, and our custom, buffet-style menu was a combination of our ideas that he brought to fruition or suggested/amended to better fit our event style. With his wealth of experience, we were in excellent hands. Highlights were certainly the tenderloin with gorgonzola, a brilliant chicken marsala, and some really special goat cheese-tossed carrots, which my family is still talking about.
We are most indebted to Gary, our host, for working so closely with us and remaining patient with us in all our planning. He’s built a stellar bar program that we chose some of our favorite beverage selections from to tailor a limited drink menu for our day. His attention to detail and dedication make both Wine Down and its potential as an event space undeniable.
Wine Down on Main is a true gem nestled in the beautiful mountain town of Brevard, NC. As you step inside, you're immediately greeted by a quaint atmosphere that evokes the charm of a European cozy-style cafe. It's the perfect retreat to unwind (especially on Wine Down Wednesdays).
The service at Wine Down is truly phenomenal. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, always eager to ensure your experience is nothing short of exceptional.
The food: it is delicious and offers a unique variety of dishes that will delight any palate. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared, bringing together flavors are both comforting and innovative.
Wine Down does not disappoint. The wine selection is exquisite, featuring an array of choices that pair beautifully with the diverse menu. Not to be overlooked is their beer selection, boasting an impressive variety of beers, especially Belgian beers that will satisfy the most discerning beer aficionados.
WDM is a delightful experience that combines the perfect charm with the flavors. It is an absolute must-visit spot in WNC!
Absolutely wonderful place. They have a great selection of wine from various regions as well as a nice selection of beers. Menu is broken down by types (beer and wine) so you can easily find your preference. Prices were very reasonable. We enjoyed a bottle of wine from Italy! The the owner, Gary, is extremely knowledgeable and friendly as was Mary. They have specials on Monday and Wednesday's as well. We enjoyed it so much, we plan on going thee weekly. If you haven't been -- I recommend you do! You won't be disappointed. (Oh, they also have cheese boards, meat boards, panini's, soup and desserts. We'd just eaten so didn't partake but plan to during our next visit).
They finally added some differnt food items as a weekly special to a very old and tired menu. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which is quite delicious but consists mainly of fieldgreens and miniscule amounts of beets and even less goat cheese. Expensive for a handful of greens. Disappointed.
