I have been raving about Wessex Orthopaedics to anyone who will listen so thought it was time to write an official review! Our 1 year old corgi, Dexter, was unfortunately diagnosed with severe bilateral hip dysplasia last year. We were referred to Wessex Orthopaedics where we met Phil and the team. They have always gone above and beyond for Dexter and everyone has been incredibly empathetic, patient and supportive. Despite being a busy service, Phil always offers plenty of time to explain and never makes you feel rushed. Communication over the phone and via email is always prompt and helpful. Phil has always helped us to make decisions that are best for Dexter, including a period of conservative management before exploring surgical options. We feel that prices at Wessex Ortho are very fair, and their surgical guarantee has offered us a lifeline. Thank you to Phil, Harry and the team for everything you do - it is massively appreciated!

A very welcoming place for both pets and owners. You’re welcomed by very cheerful, helpful reception staff. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. My experience was excellent. The consultant/surgeon gave me professional educational advice that I needed without any pressure or prejudice, to help me make the decision for my pet. I highly recommend.

I really admire and appreciate the work done by Phil at this Practice. My 9 year old cockerpoo was referred having multiple fractures of the left hind paw. This was stabilised with a plate and screws. My own referring vet was right when advising me of the skilled treatment he would receive from Phil. He really is the best. Post op my vet stressed that instructions must be followed to avoid undoing Phil's good work which he was very impressed with. My insurance claim was handled with ease and there is a friendly atmosphere there.

In Jan ‘25, our 4yr old cavapoo/Maltese cross suddenly deteriorated badly with what we now know is IVDD in multiple places. Phil at Wessex Vets Orthopaedics was fantastic. He whisked her straight into surgery, the nurses were so caring, and the clinic immaculate & well equipped. The fixed pricing for the op, aftercare & follow up visits was also very reassuring at this stressful time. Ten months on our dog is walking & running as if it had never happened. We continue to be careful with her jumping & follow Phil’s wise guidance. I’d highly recommend this practice.

Such a lovely team. Amazing set up, sensibly priced and the team are super friendly. The vets are knowledgeable, kind and sensible. Although it's never ideal to be having to deal with orthopedic challenges, the team make it as smooth and painfree as possible. Plus there's parking and it's easy to find!

Thank you Phil and the team for fixing both Molly's knees with TPLO's. It was lovely getting back home from our discharge appointment with Phil. We put the ramp up and she was back on sofa after 10 weeks. She's done remarkably well in adapting. She was 12 last week and normally a free spirit. We are looking forward to getting back to normality. Thank you everyone at Wessex Veterinary Orthopaedics for your kindness and compassion.

Gunner says thank you to everyone at Wessex Vet Ortho for fixing his leg! We were so lucky to be recommended this practice by a friend just days before we were booked to have a TPLO at our normal vet practice, so we instead asked to be referred here. We didn’t have faith in our usual practice for this surgery for a few reasons and we were concerned about putting Gunner through the surgery aged 10 but Wessex answered all of our questions clearly and reassuringly. Their pricing was clear (actually cheaper than our normal vet), the staff there are absolute experts and the service is first class. My dogs are my children and I worry leaving them with anyone but I was so comfortable to leave Gunner in Phil’s safe and knowledgeable hands and can’t thank him enough. The practice is like a well oiled machine and we were kept updated on the day, given really clear instructions for post operative care, and his recovery went as smoothly as it could’ve done, but they were always so helpful when we had to call or email any queries. I certainly hope my dogs don’t have a need for any future orthopaedic surgeries but if they did I would come here without hesitation. Thank you so much to all the team for looking after Gunner ❤️

Brilliant service, we couldn't have asked for a better service from them. They perform a hip replacement and talked us through the options before hand and have done a brilliant job and keeping us informed after the op and recovery time. Poppins is on the road to gaining really good use of the leg and after all she has been through enjoys going for the after check ups. Thoroughly recommend

I couldn't recommend Phil and the team more. I made the 3 hour drive from London/Hertfordshire and although we didn't get the outcome we wanted for our Frenchie (due to her own health issues), Phil and the team were so empathetic and informative. The value and expertise they provide is unmatched compared to the London area. And thankfully, our dog is now slowly recovering despite not being a candidate for her spinal surgery. But if your dog does need this important surgery, I'd recommend Wessex Ortho in a heartbeat.

They care deeply for their four legged patients and also understand how their owners feel. Phil and his team are simply amazing, it’s taken me over 8 weeks to find the words and have the time to share this review! My 4 year old frenchie was struck down with complete hind legged paralysis for the second time within 9 months due to being diagnosed with other IVDD. As a crazy dog owner Phil not only went above and beyond to get my little girl walking again but preformed emergency surgery on a Sunday to enable Lily to retain the use of her back legs and at a fixed price as I had previously spent 7 thousand for her previously surgery in which was nearly 10 thousand even though insured with all the hidden costs, the practice has a fixed price which is at an amazing and achievable cost, Even though it is a lot of money to a dog owner who adores there family pets, you can always find and make money but not replace cherished pets, Phil gave complete rest of mind and kept in constant contact with unprecedented aftercare due to her complications. Wessex veterinary orthopaedics are untouchable for their services to both animals and owners alike. Thank you all so much:………. Google will not allow a separate review, so Ive had to add to my previous. Sadly my little girl Ruby was effected by the terrible disease IVDD so was seen by Phil on Thursday for surgery of a ruptured disc and unfortunately she had a second bleed on Saturday afternoon, Phil was In constant communication as a neurotic dog owner, he went above and beyond with his amazing team to ensure that Ruby was cared for, I can never say enough amazing things about this man, Wessex veterinary orthopaedics are truly amazing and compassionate with the care they have had for my babies, I will be for ever eternally grateful for the care, expertise, skill and compassion given to my little girls 5* experience

Our 10.5 year old Samoyed ruptured her cruciate ligament and was referred by our vet to Wessex Veterinary Orthopaedics for the TPLO procedure. We did wonder if the procedure was worth it noting her age, and how she'd cope after. However, 3 months later and she is like a new dog and back to her old self! So glad we did it and WVO were extremely professional and knowledgeable so would definitely recommend!

We cannot recommend this practice enough. From the initial telephone conversation we felt at ease. The consultation with Phil was so reassuring and we knew our beautiful frenchie was in safe hands. We received regular updates throughout the day of our girls operation with photos incuded. The aftercare we have and continue to received is second to none. The lovely young lady nurses are fantastic and knowledgeable and show love and affection to your pet, which shows how compassionate they are in their job roles. We genuinely feel that this practice go above and beyond. If we could give 100 stars 🌟 we would. Amazing people and we would highly recommend 👌
