I started dating my husband in 2021 never thinking that one day I would be married to the most important and beautiful human being in my life. Born and raised in Connecticut, dating a native born Nigerian certainly has its learning points but most importantly it has shown me the power of a love that transcends international borders and proven to me how our rich immigration history continues to contribute to our American society, on an intimately personal level.
After 3 years of dating, finally, we were ready! We decided to marry and started planning in late 2024. Then, the next word says it all…Trump.
Let me tell you, the ABSOLUTE FEAR I had of losing my man under the new president’s immigration policies was daunting and terrifying almost every day since his inauguration. Luckily we received our immigration interview early on in the administration and I knew that it was time that I needed strong legal representation to fight for my right to love who I choose.
In steps Mahsa. She is AMAZING at what she does. She was a great resource in helping us prepare for our interview and a constant reassurance throughout the entire immigration interview process. Knowing I had strong legal rights and representation with Mahsa made me proud to be an American in a same sex, minority marriage in a current cultural environment where the very right to just love is something that the government has put into question.
At our first meeting we were initially very nervous but Mahsa met us at USCIS and ensured we were comfortable both before and during the interview, interjecting with questions I would never have thought to ask or clarify with the immigration officer. Unfortunately, ours was a special case and our interview ended without a clear approval. As we waited in limbo…the travel ban and a halt in immigration interviews hit. Despite this, I was optimistic and, after months of waiting, we received our second interview. I knew immediately that I wanted Mahsa by my side. Once again she was there for us, knowledgeable about our case and after our 2nd interview, we received his Green Card!
I would recommend Mahsa to ANYONE dealing with immigration in today’s current climate and beyond. She is knowledgeable, available, kind and reassuring. I am truly grateful and blessed that my husband now has his Green Card and can continue his pathway to citizenship. -Quiero compartir mi experiencia porque sé lo importante que es contar con la orientación correcta durante un proceso de inmigración. Al principio, por recomendación de un amigo, inicié mi caso con una persona que se dedicaba a preparar documentos migratorios, pero que no era abogada. Como era mi primera vez haciendo este tipo de trámite, confié en que eso era suficiente.
Lamentablemente, en mi caso no fue así. Se presentaron los formularios, pero nunca recibí una explicación clara sobre cómo funcionaba el proceso, cómo darle seguimiento a mi caso o qué debía hacer si USCIS solicitaba información adicional. Debido a esa falta de orientación, mi caso se retrasó y terminé perdiendo tiempo y dinero.
Después de esa experiencia, mi esposo encontró a Abogada Vida PLLC gracias a sus excelentes reseñas y decidimos contactarlos. Desde el primer día la diferencia fue enorme. Programaron una videollamada, revisaron mi caso con detalle, nos explicaron todo paso a paso y comenzaron a trabajar de inmediato.
