Rick is the original glass restoration pro. He paved the way for other glass restoration companies to emerge, and his experience shows in every project he touches. Over the years, he’s taught me many time-saving techniques and industry tricks that only come with decades of hands-on expertise.
We’ve referred customers back and forth for several years, and he’s the only person I trust enough to send my own clients to. His flawless glass scratch-removal work is truly the best I’ve ever seen.
Unscratch the Surface is the company you want when you have high expectations for the final finish on your home’s glass panes. Their results speak for themselves.
Rick has THE BEST customer service! He saved the day under the wire and made the impossible happen for me. My family has a mom & pop shop in Noe Valley, San Francisco we desperately needed to fix our window storefront in less than 24 hours in time for a CBS interview. I called every one in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco, San Jose, the peninsula, and Sacramento) and understandably no one could open up their schedule to do the work in such a tight time frame. Less than 24 hours is tall order! I reached Rick earlier that day and I remembered how nice he was. All hope was lost, it was past 5pm and I had no one, but I called Rick again since I remembered how nice he was earlier that day. I made a second plea and he did me the huge curtesy of calling his friend, Don Leet, owner of Leet Glass Restoration in San Diego. That friend flew up to SF at 8:45pm that evening and started the work the next day at 7:30am in time to restore the window before my deadline. I couldn't have accomplished this in less than 24 hours without Rick's kindness. Even though he lived far away, he still offered an ear, glass education, and a fantastic solution to my problem. I appreciate him. He's a blessing to my family business even though we are far away. He is a great human being! Bless you big time dude!

Rick is not only a gentleman but a master craftsman in his field. I’m so lucky I came across him because he’s a perfectionist and truly passionate about doing great work (a rare find). He’s the type of guy you hope you got placed next to at the bar because not only will he tell you about the art of glass restoration but also some funny stories along the way. Rick completely fixed my Mercedes 1955 190 Sl glass (a car I only trust with the best). He’s a great guy and I’m extremely grateful. Thanks Rick!
This guy (Rick) saved the day by repairing four massive deep scratches from the stone installation in a Montecito estate. Careless stone workers gouged the glass in many hard to access areas. The shower enclosure is 10 feet long; 1/2 inch thick solid star fire glass with a stone bathtub in front of the glass. He came out and within a few hours he polished the scratches out and left the glass with no trace of damage. Once finished he saved us having to remove the stone, glass, plumbing
fixture and bathtub which would have cost over $20,000. Thanks you again for saving our project!

Exceptional Glass Restoration Service!
I've been in the glass restoration industry since 2010, and I can confidently say that Rick Evans at Unscratch the Surface is among the best in the business. Our paths crossed early in my career, and Rick was immediately supportive and encouraging, despite us technically being "competitors" in the same field.
Over the years, we've collaborated on numerous large-scale projects, including the impressive Trinity College restoration in San Antonio, TX, and the luxurious ShangriLa Hotel in Toronto, Canada. Working alongside Rick gave me firsthand experience of his exceptional work ethic - this man outworks virtually everyone I've encountered in the industry.
What stands out most about Rick is his meticulous attention to detail. He's a true perfectionist when it comes to glass restoration, leaving no imperfection untreated. The results speak for themselves - damaged glass panels that look absolutely new again when he's finished with them.
What I appreciate most about Rick is his generosity with knowledge and assistance. In an industry where many guard their techniques and contacts, Rick freely offered help whenever I needed it. He taught me a valuable lesson: competitors can actually be friends and support each other. This philosophy speaks volumes about his character.
On a personal note, Rick's actually quite the golfer too! But more importantly, he's simply a genuinely good person who takes pride in his craft and treats clients with respect.
If you're looking for large glass panel restoration that delivers extraordinary results at a fair price, I wholeheartedly recommend calling Rick at Unscratch the Surface. His combination of technical expertise, work ethic, and honest business practices makes him the ideal choice for any glass restoration project, large or small.
Glass Fix USA has worked with many restoration specialists over the years, but Rick Evans consistently stands out above the rest.

Thanks man. We had some good times working together on those big jobs. Especially in San Antonio. All those windows between the brick columns from the boom lift! Yikes, those were tough. I never worried for one second that you weren't going to get them done. And Toronto was fun! Good times! Glad I still know you!!
If you’d told me a year ago that my 1971 Cuda’s original glass could look brand-new again, I’d have laughed. But Rick from Unscratch the Surface proved everyone wrong—including the skeptics who said it “couldn’t be done.” Let me explain why Rick deserves every one of these five stars.
I’ve owned my ’71 Cuda (not a Barracuda, as I constantly remind folks!) since 2014. This car is my pride, a late-’70s restoration turned full top-to-bottom original-equipment rebuild. Originality matters to me, so when I heard whispers that old glass could be resurfaced without waviness, I was intrigued but wary. After all, I’d been told the flaws were permanent, that replacing the glass was the “only way.” But Rick? He saw potential where others saw junk.
I drove the glass down from Petaluma, and from the moment I met Rick, his confidence put me at ease. He didn’t just see scratched-up car glass—he saw a piece of the car’s history worth preserving. Fast forward to the results: flawless. No distortion, no waves, just crystal-clear glass that looks like it rolled off the factory floor. The difference is night and day.
What sets Rick apart isn’t just his skill (though he’s a true artist—no machine could replicate his meticulous eye). It’s his respect for classic cars. He understands that for purists like me, original glass isn’t just glass; it’s part of the car’s soul. When he handed me the finished pieces, I swear I felt like I was 25 again, holding the keys to this beauty for the first time.
To anyone debating whether to replace or restore: Don’t. Rick’s work at Unscratch the Surface is a game-changer for classic car restorations. If you’re keeping your car original, this is your only option. He saved me the heartache of losing factory glass, and I’ll forever be grateful.
Thanks, Rick—you’ve made this Cuda owner’s dream come true. If you’re on the fence, take it from a guy who’s been around the block with classic cars: This is the real deal.

Thanks man! You're just saying all that stuff because it's true! But seriously, thanks for the kind words. Call us anytime to come back to Phoenix (Paradise Valley), except summertime! Or anytime it's over 75 degrees.
Rick did a really great job polishing out scratches on the window glass at our home. He showed up as scheduled, finished when he said he would and was always professional. He was very upfront about how the process would work and the cost of the job. To be honest, I really hope I never have to go through this process again but if I need to, I’m calling Rick. Thank you for your hard work.

Rick has done several sets of glass for me. I restore classic cars & good original glass is hard to find. Most of it is scratched. Sometimes small & some pretty deep. Rick performs a work of art on them & they come back looking brand new. Always gets them done when I need them. Communication is great & price is more than fair. Don’t hesitate to contact him for any glass polishing needs.

Thanks for the kind words David. Your restoration work on those Mustangs is AMAZING! Glad we can be a part of it!
The classic muscle car I'm restoring had some deep scratches in the passenger window and light scratches in one of the quarter glass windows. Everyone I talked to said that the scratches could not be removed and my only option was to find replacement original or aftermarket glass. Unfortunately no one would guarantee that any original glass I could find would not come with scratches or to buy aftermarket class that while close to original still were not be an exact fit. Either option being extremely expensive. Then I discovered Unscratch the Surface.
Rick Evans with Unscratch the Surface was able to do what everyone said couldn't be done. He did a phenomenal job in removing the scratches and polishing the glass for my classic car and at a fraction of the cost for what it would to replacing the glass. The glass was so clear that after it was installed you couldn't tell there was any glass there. I understand that Rick also does scratch removal for residential and commercial buildings from small to huge projects with glowing reports of the quality of his work.
If you have any need to remove scratches or repair to any glass you need to contact Rick at Unsctatch the Surface. you can't beat the quality of his work.

Rick was Incredible! I am a General contractor and was taken advantaged of from another company that did a demo and then raised his quote after we had given him a deposit for his demo.
We Called Rick to help and he was responsive and honored his quote. Rick is meticulous and did an outstanding job fixing our window scratches thru out our house. I would highly recommend him and would use him for any other future projects.

Thanks for the kind words Bill. It's always easier working for clients who appreciate hard work and want the best result. With scratched glass repair, the final result is either extremely close to perfect, or it's not. Unfortunately, there are a lot of hacks in this industry who only see dollar signs and don't care much about the quality of their glass restoration work. It seems you found one like that from San Diego. In the end, everything worked out and all your scratched glass was saved, even the non tempered windows! Hopefully you won't need us again but if you do, just give me a call. Make sure to practice the window cleaning skills I taught you! Thanks again for your all your help.

Rick was referred to us from a glass consultant for a large scale repair job on some stadium glazing. After performing a successful mock up/demonstration, Unscracth the Surface was contracted to this large scale project over several months. Local union labor was utilized to complete the process with Rick providing general overview, materials and onsite training. The repairs were successful, with the quality consistent throughout the entire scope.
