Exceptional!! Techla is the best..... Our yellow lab puppy completed the puppy class, it was first rate. We learned a lot from Techla, she has a great way what your dog is doing, why she is doing it, and how to correct any type of behavior. Highly recommend Univ of Dog to any dog owners...

Very happy with the approach, personal attention, and the results we got with our puppy through University of Dog. They don't train your dog. They train you to train your dog through virtual lessons, recorded videos and written instructions. Several home visits were provided as well as a field trip. Ours was a structured program specifically for puppies. Tecla was very experienced and knowledgeable with a keen attention to detail. We are very satisfied with the results and are strongly considering signing up for the next level of training.

My boss introduced Tecla at University of Dog as he uses her services. I filled out a contact form on puppy training and Tecla was quick to reply and provide information I was looking for. We chatted on the phone about what we were looking for and got enrolled in training quickly. Even though the training is virtual it felt very personal and we learned a lot during our training. Tecla did 1 in home visit which I thought was very beneficial and it was nice to socialize our puppy with her trained dog. I highly recommend Tecla's services as it's helped shape our puppy into the great girl she is today. Tecla's training program helped leash walking, socializing with dogs/people and overall listening commands! Thanks Tecla!

Tecla is the best that there is. I have trained two dogs under her guidance and I could not have asked for anyone better. Our first dog I trained at her brick & mortar academy and our second dog I trained virtually with her. I was nervous about the virtual way of training but Tecla has it down to a science. She has the patience and confidence to get you through the challenges of puppy training and there are many. To see her work with her own dogs and to watch her during house calls with other dogs is so much fun and it's very inspiring. With patience and consistency, Tecla can get your pup to where you want him/her to be and it's so worth it.

Tecla is amazing! I was unsure of online training at first but I actually found it much easier than in person. You have a week to practice and she provides very detailed videos and PDF instructions to follow. She helped me form a strong foundation for my rescue puppy. Weeks after finishing she still checks in. I highly recommend her!!!!!

I’m an aspiring dog trainer that had a chance to take University of Dog’s Loose Leash Walking 101 course. Prior to the course my dog was decent on a leash but I was blown away by the results of the course. Before the course, my dog was great on a leash in areas where he was familiar but struggled in newer environments. By the course’s end, I was able to have my dog in a beautiful loose leash walk while we visited family in a totally new environment out of state! The course was broken down into an easily digestible format and does a great job on focusing on your relationship with your dog and not just getting them to walk nicely on a leash. I left the course with a greater understanding of proper tool usage and how to communicate with my dog, and my dog obtained a much greater understanding of leash communication. The course made us both feel more confident and has greatly improved our relationship, which at the end of the day I believe is the entire point!

We had a moment the other morning that shows how important it is to work with your dog alongside U of D. It was early in the morning and I was transferring some items from our car to our house while I was getting ready to leave for work. My dog snuck out the door and I didnt realize it until I saw him at the end of our property line. His nose was going crazy and he obviously was on some scent (probably a fox) so I walked up to him slowly and calmly and went to reach down and grab his collar and he pulled a football running back move to slide right out from under me (we noticed that he really doesn’t like to be grabbed near the neck, probably because they were chasing him in the woods trying to grab him when animal control found him roaming in VA). At that same moment I saw his nose point towards the road and he started to take off. I yelled “Here!” just as we practiced in our basic obedience class and on a dime he turned around and came running back to me. When we first adopted our dog he had very little impulse control and did not listen to anyone over his nose but thanks to University of Dog we have the tools in our toolbox to give him a safe and loving home.

I have been participating in virtual training sessions with Tecla of University of Dog for over 2 years and absolutely love the experience. Tecla has mastered the online teaching. Plenty of support material is shared so it is hard to fail if you are committed to doing the work. I learn so much from Tecla as her style of teaching is a perfect fit for my desire to learn and she makes it easy to absorb. I love having the videos as backup for review. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention how she holds you accountable by requiring homework submission for each class. So helpful to review and see where there is room for improvement. Tecla is an excellent instructor with a wealth of knowledge and proven experience. I just signed up for yet another class! You will not regret giving Tecla with University of Dog a try! If you are looking for a puppy class with a trainer that not only is knowledgeable, but personable too, practices what she preaches, listens to and provides honest feedback, is completely dedicated to providing you with the keys to successful puppy training, then look no further! University of Dog with Tecla is where you and your puppy need to be. The class is run completely online which means you have the opportunity to review the content as often as necessary to learn proper technique. Videos are provided for each new concept as well as a pdf to review as needed. I’ve taken in person puppy classes in the past and half of me was on the trainer while the other half was on the incessantly barking puppy two spaces away and my puppy. By the time I got home I didn’t know what to practice. Gone are the distractions and head scratching with University of Dog! Just got ahead and sign up. You won’t regret it and neither will your puppy!

My significant other trained our last GSD with Tecla back in 2012 in person, so when we got another one this year she was our first choice. He wasn’t sure how you can train a dog online but it is indeed possible. This really works!!! You have everything you need so if you feel like you’re maybe not doing something right you can go back and watch the recording of the class and you have access to the training material. The feedback provided on your homework assignments is wonderful and helpful; again if you’re having trouble with a behavior Tecla will request you review the feedback, practice it some more and send in a new recording, she sticks with you until you have it. She loves all dogs and wants the best for them just like parents and teachers want for human children. She’s extremely personable and can point you in the right direction for help with nutrition as well. There’s a huge wealth of knowledge that she’ll pour into you to help you become the best dog parent you can be. Training our puppy via Dog University was the best dog parent decision we could have made.

The live online classes of University of Dog are excellent. Prepare yourself for total emersion of puppy training. You will learn from a world class trainer, training videos, questions and answers, creating, uploading and critiquing class videos. This is hard work, but the payoff and reward are huge. Learn how not to create problems for yourself and puppy and to shape and engage the behaviors that are beneficial for you and your puppy. The convivence of online training allowed us to travel and work through tough times when our puppy was sick. We have a high drive Schutzand bred GSD who is very mouthy. The calming training allows our puppy to live in a high-rise community around other dogs, elevators, construction workers, delivery personnel and people. I think self-calming is one of the most important lessons puppies can learn. Give it a whirl!!!

Tecla takes the time to teach the dog owners how to handle their own dogs so that the owner can make corrections on their own instead of having someone else do it. I am now confident that I can reset my dog so that he his practicing good behavior on walks and in his behavior. Tecla also encourages us to keep the video lessons so that we can replay the videos to refresh on at later times. I get so many compliments on how well my chihuahua mix behaves. I am currently doing online dog training classes with Tecla at University of Dog. I have had the pleasure of working with Tecla with a few dogs over the years and am now training with Tecla for my 6-month-old Doberman puppy and I must say that the experience was nothing short of fantastic. The convenience, flexibility, and effectiveness of the program exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend U of Dog. I was hesitant doing online dog classes for a few different reasons, but I ended up absolutely loving it for the following reasons: · Convenience! Being able to access the classes from anywhere meant that I could participate in training from anywhere. I used to drive over an hour each direction a few times a week for training and that became very time consuming (but training with Tecla was worth it!) I love that I can now do it from my house! · Format. Google Class works for me. We meet live, which is great for interactive discussions. But she also provides clear and concise instructions through video tutorials and written materials. · Community. Despite being conducted remotely, our online classes still have a sense of community and support. Interactive features such as discussion boards, Q&A sessions, and back-to-back training classes allow us to connect with fellow dog owners. This created a space where questions could be asked, experiences shared, and challenges addressed and feeling like we are doing it all together. · Ability to rewatch training videos and reference the provided materials whenever needed. This allowed me to revisit lessons and videos which was invaluable in reinforcing my dog's training (aka me learning how to train). Tecla is amazing to work with. Her expertise, dedication, and passion for training all dogs, especially sport/ working dogs was evident from the very beginning, and the progress my sporting dog made under their guidance was remarkable. Her ability to tailor a personalized training program to suit my dog's individual needs is truly impressive. She establishes clear boundaries and expectations for my dog while simultaneously fostering a positive and enjoyable learning environment. I am truly grateful for Tecla's guidance and would wholeheartedly recommend U of Dog to anyone seeking top-notch training for their dog.
