Stay away - not trustworthy I booked Ultimate Kilimanjaro for August 2025 and paid the full amount of over US$3,000+ but was unable to go for the strenuous hike due to medical emergency (supported by a medical certificate from a reputable hospital in Hong Kong urging me not to undertake such an activity). I requested Ultimate Kilimanjaro for a credit (minus any rebooking fees) so that I can climb once I feel better. However, they refused any cooperation and pointed to their terms & conditions that said that no credit or refund was possible in the cancellation window, and asked me to seek claims for my travel insurance. This is not how a reputable business that cares about its customers should act. A medical emergency can hit anyone and climbing Kilimanjaro is not a leisurely stroll. I understand that refunds may be hard, but not even a credit? That's abhorrent. I'd highly recommend using other agencies which treats its customers with respect and kindness.

Your cancellation occurred 3 days before arrival, which falls within our 30-day nonrefundable window. By that stage, we have already committed funds on your behalf. These costs are paid in advance and are not recoverable.

Additionally, it appears that you did not obtain the required travel insurance. If you had, we could assist you in submitting your claim. Travel insurance is standard practice for Kilimanjaro expeditions and is specifically intended to protect travelers in situations like this.

We understand this is not the answer you were hoping for but applying the policy consistently ensures fairness to all climbers and allows us to operate responsibly.

A fantastic Kilimanjaro climb with Ultimate Kilimanjaro! We completed the 9 day northern circuit route on the last trip of the season. Weather was rainy and conditions were muddy but not enough to detract from the experience, and summit day was a beautiful, clear day! Our guides, led by Philbert, were absolutely amazing and the whole experience went above and beyond our expectations. The equipment (tents, sleeping bags, etc) were top notch, the food (so much of it!!) was great and we definitely had 2 of the best/cleanest port-a-potties on the mountain. Right from the start, the whole group felt supported, and like our hosts truly believed in the "one team, one dream" philosophy; from carrying our packs when we needed a break to slowing the pace to extra motivation it was clear we were 100% supported to reach our goals of getting to the top. I highly recommend this particular trek (9 days af acclimatization) and Ultimate Kilimanjaro to help you reach your goal!

February 2026 Lemosho Trip of a Lifetime This is the first TripAdvisor review I've ever written, but I felt compelled to do so after our incredible experience with UK. We did a private climb with 4 climbers via the 8-day Lemosho Route and all successfully summitted on February 19, 2026. Our guides, Nico and Godfrey, and the entire team took such great care of us. They were supportive, gave us lots of great information about the mountain and Tanzania, and were lovely people to be with day in and day out. The health checks were real and thorough, and I trusted Nico and Godfrey fully, knowing that safety was their first priority. There are a lot of companies to choose from when selecting your Kili guide. But you will not go wrong in choosing UK. The crew was obviously proud to work for UK, and unlike some competitors, every single porter had solid footwear and was appropriately dressed for every temperature. It was such a great experience, and if I ever have the opportunity to go back, it will be with UK.

8 day Lemosho Route I climbed with Ultimate Kilimanjaro on the 8 day Lemosho Route this January. They were fabulous. The guides August, Ambrose, Richard, Venance, and Aman were excellent. Everything was taken care of. The information from UK before hand was very helpful. The climb was humbling but doable for anyone that prepares beforehand (I'm 64). The support staff was wonderful (cooks, servers, porters...). They are human billygoats on how they traverse the mountain under a load. I would recommend using UK to anyone.

Absolutely Ultimate Kilimanjaro. It’s a nobrainer. Fantastic company! We would give 7 stars if possible. We went during the Christmas holidays and reached the summit on the morning of New Year’s Day. It was an experience of our life! It is very clear that the guides and porters working for Ultimate are proud of their jobs. Thank you to Enok,Dismess, Michael and Leftieeyes. :) They have so much knowledge and about 80 years combined experience of the mountain, the history, the nature and culture. It was so impressing! We always felt 100% safe, and the guides always knew what we needed before we even knew ourselves. We will remember the whole crew. We went with our daughters (23 and 19 years old) Our oldest daughter has celiac. We were impressed how the chef provided gluten free meals at the mountain. The hole team was incredible- and made our trip memorable and far beyond our expectations. Asante.

This company delivers above and beyond! My husband and I used Ultimate Kilimanjaro for both to climb Kilimanjaro and for a 6 day safari after the climb. The company was super responsive when we had any questions or requests prior to the trip. They also picked us up from the airport and transported us back to the airport at the end of our trip. We did the Lemosho route (8 days). We hiked with a group of 11. Our guides (Augustine, Ambrose, Amani, Richard, Venance), were amazing! They made sure we all made it to the top. They paid close attention to every detail and at the slightest sign of weakness, or dehydration they intervened immediately. Very knowledgeable and professional. Our hike was smooth and well-timed. We were provided an incredible amount of food every day. No need to bring snacks, or just a minimal amount for the summit day. We had large hot breakfast, then a second breakfast while on the trail (with a table and chairs waiting for us complete with hot coffee and/or tea), after reaching our campsite we had hot lunch, then happy hour (4PM) snacks, tea, coffee, and around 6PM we had a large dinner with at least 3 courses. The food was delicious and way too much. Hats off to the chef! He even baked a cake for us on our last dinner to congratulate everyone reaching the top. Imagine baking a cake on a propane burner! The porters worked their hearts out! They were on top of breaking down the camp, running by us while we were hiking pole-pole, to the next camp site and setting up our camp again. We even had a sit down toilet! What a treasure! Those guys were amazing, strong, fast, efficient! I only have praises for the company and their staff. We did a 6 day safari with 2 family members who flew in to join us. The accommodations, transport , and food were fantastic. Our guide/driver, Anthony (Tony) was absolutely amazing! He is full of scientific knowledge about nature, plants, animals, the weather, geology, and geography. We’ve learned so much from him. We had a wonderful visit to Lake Manyara, the Serengeti (3 days; stayed in tented campsites) Ngorongoro, and Tarangire. We’ve seen all the animals living in these parks. The beauty and serene landscape were breathtaking. None of us wanted to leave. We highly recommend this company. Mungu akubariki!

The Best in the Business My son and I made the trek to Kilimanjaro in January of this year. I'm 66; he is 42, and we have never done anything like this before, so we were, to say the least, anxious. I had read a LOT of reviews and watched the UK videos Kevin posts and felt I had a decent, albeit general, understanding of what we were in for. The team that we had for the climb was OUTSTANDING. Enock and Amadeus were so patient and thoughtful on every aspect of this adventure that they, quite frankly, made the summit not only a possibility, but a reality for us. I don't want to give anyone the illusion that this is an easy deal. This isn't easy by any stretch of the imagination. We did the 10-day Northern Route with a daytime summit. The mental side of the climb is as taxing as the physical side, and you have to be ready for that. But having said that, Ultimate Kilimanjaro gives you every possible tool you could need to reach Uhuru Peak. I want to thank our entire climb team for the exceptional service they provided every step of the way. Our camp was as comfortable as you can possibly be at this altitude, our food was outstanding and there was always plenty of it. The service was incredible, and as someone whose company operates more than 100 hotels nationwide, I feel I understand what good service looks like. This was better than good; it was exceptional.The porters are the heroes of the mountain in our estimation. It's hard to overstate just how impressive their work ethic is. It's something you need to see for yourself to understand. If you ever thought you might want to try something like this, get in touch with these guys; they will give you everything they have to help you succeed, all while ensuring your health and safety every single day. When we got down, we also did a two-day safari with UK. Dhili was our guide. He showed us animals that I never thought possible. We saw Rhinos (4), more elephants, zebras, giraffes, and wildebeasts than I can describe, seven Lions, a Leopard, water buffalo, and the list goes on and on. Dhili also offered to wait for us after our safari to make sure we made it to our hotel for our 1:30 AM flight. That just doesn't happen by accident. These people are hired based on their customer service skills. The Ultimate Kilimanjaro team has to be the best in the business. I implore you, if you are contemplating a trip like this, to give these guys a chance with your business; you won't be sorry you did. I'm going back soon for another safari with my other Son. Beyond the Best Do your training do your planning be prepared physically and mentally but do not go with anyone else other than Ultimate Kilimanjaro. From what I saw first hand, there is nobody on that mountain who will better prepare you plan for you feed you and be there in an emergency like the pros at ultimate Kilimanjaro. From the very beginning, the journey was well organized, we had a good briefing and knew what to expect. Our crew was incredible, everybody was happy, helpful und in a good mood. They served three meals a day, big portions and amazing what they are able to cook on the mountain.Our guides were patient and very helpful, they pushed when necessary but left free space also. Trip of a lifetime Immensely grateful to the awesome Ultimate Kilimanjaro team based in Tanzania! We climbed the 8 day Lemosho trail, followed by a 5 day safari. The combination of the detailed information and guidance upfront, along with the deeply experienced guides (Filbert & Sulle), talented mountain cook, and committed porters resulted in an unforgettable trip, with all 7 of our party members reaching the summit. I was also blown away from the Herculean effort to locate and retrieve our lost luggage and bring it to us in the mountain. The positivity, care and humour of the crew fostered camaraderie amongst the party, which added to the magic of this experience . would give it a 6 star We did the 9 day Lemosho crate camp with UK. We had a trip of our lieftime. UK made the hike much more manageable thanks to the fresh, hot and healthy meals cooked by Reggi, clean outdoor toilet, service, excellent guides, Nicco and Sule. During the cold nights in the tent Richard gave us hot water bottles which were a life saver. Would recommend kepping them between your feet. We skipped the crate camp overnight stay on summit day which was a wise decision because the mountain received a lot of snow after we summited. Sleeping bags which we rented from UK took a while to get used to. We managed to keep our selves clean thanks to warm water provided after every day's hike. Did develop headache at the summit but Nicco and his team of porters hiked up to the mountain to help us out.

It's difficult to put into words the appreciation that I feel. This has truly been a dream come true, almost as if looking through the lenses of an outdoor adventure cameraman. Everything about this outfitter, from my very first email contact, the perfection of scheduling, being greeted flawlessly at the Moshi airport in the middle of the night, their team of guides and porters, their equipment, the food that was served throughout the trip, and the degree of safety that was given to each and every hiker far surpassed anything that I could have ever imagined.
