I was so nervous. Never shot a gun before. Never held a gun before. Have had fear going in. Sheena and Hayley really talked me through every step, including my breath. I actually ended up getting some really good shots in. By the end, I felt very comfortable and even excited to shoot again, with them of course.
I shot a .22 Glock 44, Rugar mark 1, AR15, Springfield XD9. Very exciting !
I trained with Trouble Defense recently and honestly had a solid experience. Communication was on point and everything felt pretty smooth from the start.
Scheduling wasn’t an issue for me—they reached out after I booked and let me know what to expect. The training is at a range in Lorton, which I actually liked because it’s a legit setup and felt safe.
I never felt like anything was off. The process made sense, and they kept me in the loop. The biggest thing for me was the instruction—they actually take time with you and help you improve, not just rush you through it.
If you’re in the DMV and looking for real training, I’d recommend them.
Initially chose this place due to it's location and reviews. However I discovered only after paying for the beginner's package the actual range location is in Lorton. Additionally scheduling for me has been extremely difficult as I've been repeatedly given incorrect times.
Add on top of all that the payment process is sort of "trust me" - having you pay first and wait for them to contact you just led to a very "I hope I'm not getting scammed" experience.
I took a handgun refresher with Sheena to try a few different handguns and it was great. I’ve had instruction but nothing very formal and I learned a lot of things that I can practice on my own from her observations and instructions. She’s patient and very good at explaining things and coming up with different approaches to find what works! Highly recommend!! I am already signed up for another class with her.
