I had a great experience with this surf school! The team was super flexible. They noticed I was struggling with the morning conditions and kindly offered to try again in the afternoon at a different beach. There, I had an amazing session and was finally able to catch waves. Highly recommend!
10/10. It really goes to show how much progress you can make with quality instructors. I’ve taken lessons in different places in SJDS and El Salvador but finally made real steps after a few lessons with Tribu. Love that they give you photos and video, each night I could look back and really see where you need to improve. Instructors were friendly and spoke excellent English.
I had so much fun with Tribu surf. The team are super knowledgeable, and friendly and experts in their craft. They make you feel safe in the waves and all while having a good time. I really appreciated the individual advice and technical expertise given to improve - they take care of all their students. Shout out to Pedro, Mario and Gustavo for the fun and expertise - I spent my entire trip in San Juan surfing with Tribu - book with these guys you won’t regret it.
Was in SJDS for a couple weeks at the language school, went out surfing lots of times in the afternoons with Tribu surf. It was a lot of fun.
Great guys, friendly, knowledgeable and easy to arrange getting to and from the beaches each day. Even when I had to meet them there later due to the changing tides and my class hours.

I had an incredible experience at Tribu Surf Nicaragua. All the instructors are friendly, passionate, professional, and made me feel comfortable in the water. They take you to different spots depending on your level and the conditions. I had a great time with the team and caught some amazing waves. I highly recommend Tribu Surf Nicaragua to anyone looking to learn how to surf or improve their skills. I'll definitely be back!
Group Lesson- WHAT TO EXPECT?
Communication through WhatsApp to discuss previous surfing experience and arrange dates for sessions. Pay via PayPal link in advance to book. Meet at 8am at Surfshop. Drive 15 mins on back of pickup truck to Playa Remanos. Carry surfboards onto the beach. Rashvest provided. Place in beach bar to change, put on suncream, hydrated and leave bags. 1hr 30min session with combination of sand and sea time to learn and develop skills. Professional photographer taking pictures to review body position and footwork. After session time to chill at beach and then take the pickup back to the surf shop in town.
POSITIVES- Pedro our surf instructor was amazing, gave individual teaching tips and feedback based on each wave we caught and how to improve- he was friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, passionate about surfing. Well organised transport. Surfboard and vest provided. Good communication before to arrange and afterwards for photos. I enjoyed it so much I booked onto another session the next day. Photos were really cool and a great memory.
PAY / COST / PRICE- group lesson (up to 3 students per instructor) was 35USD. Pay in cash at shop or via PayPal in advance.
OVERALL- highly recommend tribu surf, great value for an all inclusive transport, equipment and professional surfing tuition combined.

Tribu Surf isn’t just a surf school—it’s a full-blown vibe. From the moment we showed up, the crew made us feel like we were part of their inner circle. No awkward introductions, no over-the-top surf bro energy—just genuine, warm people who clearly love what they do.
Juan, my instructor, was absolutely top-tier. Patient, clear, super encouraging, and somehow always knew exactly what I needed to hear to make progress. I went from flopping around like a confused starfish to actually riding waves with some style.
Pedro, the owner, is pure fire. He’s got this wild, magnetic energy that makes everything more fun. But beyond the hype, he’s seriously committed to helping you get better. He stuck around after lessons to break down what we did, what worked, and what could improve—like a coach who actually cares.
Oh, and they filmed everything. Watching the videos afterwards was hilarious, humbling, and incredibly helpful. Nothing like seeing yourself faceplant in HD to motivate you to pop up faster next time.
