Wow, just wow!!! I ordered 2 of the deer or moose craft bags in vibrant colours last week and received them today, so their shipping is very fast. I am absolutely thrilled with the selection they sent me. The colours are gorgeous, the leather is beautifully soft and supple and the pieces are very generous in the sizes. I am really happy. The only reason Iām not giving a 5 star review is because of my last order. The only time Iāve ever had to return hides Iāve ordered. And the. The tone of the email I received in response to the email and pictures I sent. I order some light tan moose hide. I usually order the āsecondsā hides since I prefer to use the suede side out. With the āsecondsā hides, they are a little cheaper because of markings on the smooth side. But this time, it said āsold outā of the seconds, but I loved the colour so much I decided to pay the extra money and get the full priced ones. Unfortunately what I received was so marked and scarred on both sides almost all of the hides were unusable for my needs, since I make mostly larger pieces. Out of 25 sq ft, there was about 5 sq ft of usable hide. Now, I understand that there will almost always be marks and scars on a hide due to that a moose goes thru in its life. Mating seasons, Predator attacks, slips of the knife during the skinning and tanning process, etc. Iāve worked with hides for years, and Iāve seen it done all my life as I come from a small FN community where hunting is a regular occurrence, and using the hides and furs is still very much a part of our lives. But the quality of the hides I received was a disappointment as I had come to expect much better quality from Tribal Spirit due to what Iāve received in the past. The deer hide I ordered was almost all perfect, the only issue was the cream colour was yellow. So after paying just over $500 I emailed Tribal Spirit with my concerns. The response I received was less than understanding and made me feel as tho they did not believe me even with the pictures I sent and it was a little rude, as i felt he was was insinuating that I didnāt understand how to judge the quality of a hide. Issues I didnāt think Iād have to deal with when dealing with a small business. I did receive my money back, but was also made to feel as tho my business was no linger welcome. Which is a shame, I really did love the hides I hade previously purchased. I really donāt know if Iād recommend this company now. I used to tell everyone how great it was. But. Ow, I donāt know if Iād be able to tell someone to buy from Tribal spirit in good conscience. Itās unfortunate that this happened.

Sorry about the disappointment, all our leather is sourced from wild hides, not farmed. So they all have scarring and character. We make sure the centres of all the hides are very nice and usable. The edges will always have more holes/scars/scratches etc. We always send a bit more leather than ordered to make up for that fact.
Here is a free return label. Please drop it all off at the post office when you have a moment.

Hello, I received my hand drum and moose hide drum bag kit quite a while ago. Unfortunately, I was not able to make my drum bag until recently. The drum sat safely tucked away until I was ready to bring the two together. I will initiate my drum at a drum circle in early May, 2026. The company has been a pleasure to work with in terms of receiving my items and my requests along the way. I could not be happier and recommend Tribal Spirit to those I run into wanting to find a "real" leather hand drum.
