One of the best experiences I’ve ever had while on a vacation. Simon was fabulous, and acted as our main tour guide/chef. We went to the market and learned a bit of history regarding the space, how to choose the most fresh seafood/about quality seafood. Upon making our way back, we made our own “restaurant style” sangria and learned the tricks and tips on a proper sangria… paella experience was amazing from start to finish - we learned techniques on de-shelling etc. Dessert recipe was fabulous and easy to follow. 100/10 would recommend. Had a terrific time with Chef Maria and Simon who took great care of us throughout an amazing, informative, and fun class. We learned so much about selecting good ingredients, about key preparation steps, modifications where appropriate, and about how to guarantee a perfect, delicious result. It was delightful. My friend and I had a tiny mix up with the market tour (which was terrific - thank you to our guide!). Maria and team were so keen to iron it out that they gifted us with school aprons as amends, which was not at all necessary. This is a sign of how much they care about assuring a fantastic experience. You can’t go wrong! Don’t miss it. Such a great way to experience Barcelona and this phenomenal region!
Fun and delicious
We had so much fun with Simon and Matteo! We learned all the proper ways to look for fresh seafood and how to prepare it and they were very accommodating to my aversion to seafood and we made a chicken paella. The sangria and paella were delicious. A great start to our vacation.
Cute space, 2 great teachers who kept things fun & moving smoothly! Simon & Mateo taught us how to prep the squid, shrimp & shellfish (and make sure it was safe to eat) and how to cook everything perfectly. The entire group got to cook together and the end result was great. We started out making our own sangria, which we then sampled while eating 2 traditional tapas that were made for us. We then prepped & cooked the paella ingredients and while it was cooking we made a simple cake for dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection - tender seafood, rice with a crispy bottom and light, moist almond cake.
Highly recommend- one of my favorite cooking classes and I have taken quite a few!
