We booked a self-guided e-bike ride in Funchal on Christmas Day and not only was the bike handover punctual, and the bikes adjusted to suit us, but Rosie appeared magically as we started on our way back, to check we were both ok. Madeira is a spectacular cycling destination and thanks to Mad Cycle, it became a truly unforgettable journey. For riders who demand the best, Rosie and her team at Mad Cycle is the way to go. We have rented bicycles in more than 30 different countries, and we were thoroughly impressed by Mad Cycle. Their customer service is truly world‑class. They are professional, punctual, friendly and super responsive. Communication was seamless throughout, with clear updates and thoughtful touches that made us feel heard and understood as to what we wanted to do. It was our first time in Madeira, and we asked for recommendations for four 35-40miles rides. We wanted rides that were scenic and challenging . The route design was exceptional. The recommendations for the routes and suggestions as to where to stop for coffee or a bite or a view were spot‑on, reflecting a deep understanding of both the island and what we wanted to experience. A shout-out to Rosie, Oscar and Cristiano who were extremely helpful, supportive, fun, and always there to lend a hand.

Die geführte Radtour im April 25 war sehr gut organisiert und wunderschön. Die Räder waren einwandfrei. Helm, Schloss und Fahrradtasche wurden ebenfalls bereitgestellt. Oscar ist ein sehr guter und freundlicher Tourguide und gab uns viele interessante Informationen über Land und Leute. Das Frühstück in einer kleinen Pension war sehr lecker und reichhaltig. Alles bestens und daher sehr zu empfehlen.

Rosie was so lovely and helpful. She gave us plenty of time to get set up and spoke us through everything we needed to know.
On this occasion, she was able to drop off and collect our bikes from our resort apartment which was such a nice touch.
The route we were given to follow to the fishing village was perfect for getting to see more of the beautiful Island.
The breakfast stop included in the trip at Quinta do Saraivawas was awesome. Great food, homemade bread & cakes, super friendly staff and a lovely view.
An E-bike is a must with the hilly terrain. If you're planning to book an experience like this I'd definitely book with Mad Cycle.

As someone who lives in Madeira, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by a tour — but wow, this was something else. I did the self-guided e-bike tours and loved every second. The bikes are super fun, the views are insane, and the whole experience just felt really well thought out and easygoing.
Óscar and Rosie are the BEST — super friendly, down to earth, and clearly love what they do. After doing the tours, I legit went and bought my own e-bike because I was hooked. If you're in Madeira (even if you live here!), do this. Seriously.
