Tongue Cottage Lake District Reviews

We have just returned from a five night stay and everything was perfect. Peter and Sarah met us at the cottage, showed us around and gave us some walking and restaurant recommendations.The cottage is much bigger than it looks in the photos, is spotlessly clean, tastefully renovated, very comfortable and above all very peaceful.The hamper was a lovely touch and the extras such as the log fire and stand alone bath make the experience special. The cottage has every possible amenity, all finished to a luxury standard.There is a parking space directly outside the cottage and there are many superb walks in and around the area such as Ullswater and Glenridding. There are some nice pubs within a reasonable walking distance but just as easy to drive to.We will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

The cottage is lovely and you can really tell a lot of care has gone in to it! Pete was very welcoming and gave us loads of great local recommendations, including a local pizza place nearby that was perfect after a long drive. It's peaceful and private and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch. We loved our stay and only wish we'd booked for longer!

The cottage was immaculate and full of character, situated in a peaceful, rural setting. Sarah & Pete gave us a warm welcome on arrival and provided us with lots of information about the local area. We appreciated the contents of an excellent 'welcome basket'. Furnishings in the cottage are very comfortable and there are lots of beautiful finishing touches, sympathetic to the style of the cottage. We had a very peaceful and restful break.

Sarah’s cottage is absolutely beautiful! We were there on our honeymoon and it was ideal. The cottage itself is immaculate and it’s situated in some of the most beautiful scenery of the Lake District. So peaceful and quiet, we absolutely loved hearing so much birdsong there too. The place is perfect for a little break away! Thanks so much Sarah.

Sarah and Pete were brilliant hosts and the photographs do not do the cottage justice it is finished to a really high standard. A great location to explore the Lakes, lots of recommended walks and local information supplied, it’s nicely tucked away and you can just sit outside and take in the views or go exploring, Ulswater is just a short drive and looks spectacular in the evening sunshine.This was our first visit to the Lake District and we are so happy we chose this gem to stay in.

Our stay with Pete and Sarah at Tongue Cottage was beyond anything we could have hoped for. From the cottage’s idyllic setting to the amazing details and care put into the cottage itself, we felt as if we’d stepped into a little slice of paradise. The home’s beautiful furnishings and many extras, such as the lovely welcome basket provided to us, just made our stay all the more magnificent. And you could not ask for more lovely hosts than Pete and Sarah who are so friendly and knowledgeable. Would 100% recommend a stay here and cannot wait to return again.

You will not find a more peaceful, stylish or comfortable place on Airbnb. The attention to detail that Sarah and Pete have gone to is incredible. We will be back!

We had a great 5 night stay at Tongue Cottage. It is beautifully furnished and kitted out. Everything is very well thought through, so although it’s small, it works very well. Pete and Sarah are endlessly helpful but give you your privacy. Ideal hosts. We’ll be going back.

We had the most wonderful stay at Tongue Cottage. Sarah and Pete were very welcoming and provided clear information about the property so it was easy to find and settle in. The location is idyllic. There are Wainwrights and other walking routes that are accessible on foot so there's no need to get in the car everyday. The cottage itself is superb and had everything we needed for a cosy and relaxing stay. We will definitely be back, as soon as we can.

Second stay here and just as good as the first. Beautifully decorated and has the best equipped kitchen I have ever seen in an Airbnb. Welcoming hosts and I just can’t recommend it highly enough

We had the most wonderful stay in Tongue Cottage. It’s genuinely one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed, the location is amazing and Pete/Sarah were super welcoming and helpful.

This is a classic Airbnb. The owners meet you at the door, with such a friendly welcome. Always on hand should you need anything. And that bathtub!!!!! Everything about this place is top notch.

The cottage is beautifully done, everything felt luxurious and the hosts were perfect - thank you - we would return in future.

We had a lovely stay at tongue cottage. The place was immaculate and finished to a very high spec. Lots of thought had gone into the details, with a well stocked kitchen, games, wood for the log burner and a hamper to get us settled in. All of these added extras make it easy to feel right at home and start relaxing on your holiday. Would highly recommend for a luxurious and comfortable stay in the Lake District. We very much hope to be back soon.
