Tongue Cottage is fantastic. Needs six stars. Pete and Sarah were amazing hosts. The cottage is pure luxury. Extremely good quality decor and finish. Obviously the bathroom is a highlight but the whole place is fabulous. Location is so peaceful and private yet close to Ullswater and easy to travel to/from for days out. I’ve already recommend to friends and family. Just book it!

We had a lovely stay at Tongue Cottage. The cottage is equipped to an exceptional standard with attention to detail. Beautiful peaceful location and great to have fabulous walks from the doorstep without having to use the car! Hosts are friendly and helpful.

Susan and I were lucky enough to spend some time as guests of Sarah and Pete at Tongue Cottage. It will reign supreme as one of our best Airbnb experiences. Clean and spectacular, the perfect lodging in the perfect environment. Truly the best of Airbnb.

Sarah & Pete have been such friendly and gracious hosts with excellent attention to detail in this beautiful and picturesque cottage. Even better than the pictures and it has been kept in such immaculate condition. It's also modern in all the right places while maintaining the gorgeous cottage charm we were after. Cosiest weekend away and with so much to explore in the surrounding areas. Highly recommend!

Lovely stay. We’ll be back. The design, furnishings, decor and equipment were all of unusually good quality for a holiday rental, well thought out and, where appropriate, attractive. Lovely views and totally peaceful location. Well stocked with kitchen utensils. Very friendly and helpful welcome. Complaints? The crockery didn’t fit very well into the drying rack!

Tongue Cottage is bliss. I was lucky to have wonderful weather and that together with a beautiful cottage made my few days away great. I watched the sun rise and saw red squirrels, pheasants and rabbits! If you are looking for a beautiful cottage in a peaceful and stunning location then look no further!

Sarah and Pete were fantastic hosts! Everything was easy. Despite the fact that we were quite late arriving at the cottage, Pete was waiting for us and made sure that we were comfortably settled in. The location was breathtaking! Quiet, peaceful and extremely private. We were right at the doorstep of the natural beauty of the Lake District with uninterrupted breathtaking views and with endless options for walks and hikes including Aira Force waterfall. There are a couple of great options for food and drink within a reasonable walking distance. Plenty of other options within a short 10min to 15mins drive. As to the cottage, it’s absolutely fantastic! From the lounge with a cozy fire place for extra warmth for those chilly evenings, to the well equipped kitchen where you can cook a perfectly delicious meal with local farm sourced products and the en-suite bedroom on the mezzanine floor, everything was tastefully done! Having been to the Lake District many times, this is the best!

Tongue Cottage is the most beautiful place-immaculately designed and exquisitely appointed. Even better than the pictures! The Ullswater countryside is breathtaking - the perfect place to relax. Peter and Sarah were excellent hosts - super responsive and very helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending.

We absolutely loved our stay at Tongue Cottage! The surroundings were beautiful and the cottage itself was stunning. Pete was there to welcome us and gave us a tour around the cottage which he has so lovingly renovated - a really nice touch. We’ll particularly miss the log burner and beautiful bath! Nothing better than returning to the cosy cottage after a long walk around the lakes.

Tongue cottage was everything we wished for and more. Not only was it stunning, it was pristinely clean and had a luxury feel. The bathtub was a real highlight, as was the fire. We would come back here in a heart beat and we’ve now found our go to accommodation whenever we are visiting the lakes.

Wow!!! I cannot recommend this beautiful cottage enough. We booked a stay to have a break before busy 2025 kicked off and this was the perfect retreat. Sarah and Pete were fantastic hosts and made us feel immediately at home in their beautiful cottage. The cottage is wonderful and the pictures are completely true to what you get. THE BATH?! Wow! A fantastic location for those wanting to enjoy local walks, make the most of the lakes and local villages. Walking distance from cozy pubs but the kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook and enjoy a night in by the fire! We would love to go back and would recommend to anyone!!

Tongue Cottage is a gorgeous, old, tastefully renovated cottage. An amazingly comfortable home in beautiful peaceful surroundings. Sarah and Pete were friendly and attentive hosts. We had a lovely relaxing few days over the New Year holiday. Thanks for everything!

Don’t book anywhere else if Sarah’s place is available!We didn’t meet sarah but her instructions were incredibly clear to find the property but sat nav took us straight there too. The cottage is stunning, everything we hoped it would be and more. The weather was particularly windy and wild so we spent lots of time indoors and felt utterly relaxed at the end of our 3 night stay, even had a bit of snow just before Christmas.The cottage is a very high standard, from the fire and underfloor heating, to the fluffy towels and robes, worth every single penny and we’ll definitely come back soon.

Our stay at Tongue Cottage was lovely! The coziness, refinement, and cleanliness of the accommodation are impeccable. The location is pastoral and the proximity to off-the-beaten-path Lake District trails and sights is rewarding. Above all, Sarah and Pete are delightful, genuine, and the most welcoming of hosts. A beautiful cottage finished to a very high standard. Very comfy bed and pillows, a gorgeous deep free-standing bath and walk-in shower, double-sided wood burning stove, fully equipped kitchen with all new appliances and the whole place was very clean and tidy on our arrival. Perfect for a luxurious countryside getaway. In a very peaceful location but only 10 mins from Pooley Bridge, 20 mins from Penrith and there are numerous great hikes very close by if that’s your thing (it’s very much ours!). The friendly hosts live next door so are on hand to answer any questions or give advice, they were never intrusive and we were left to enjoy our stay, however it was good to know they were there if needed. I would highly recommend Tongue Cottage and expect to be back again next year!

Absolutely loved our stay at Tongue Cottage. Sarah and Pete were really responsive before we arrived and then very welcoming on arrival, Pete kindly walked us round the property to settle us in. The place was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and incredibly well stocked (particularly the kitchen which was totally home from home in terms of items provided). The welcome basket was a wonderful extra too. All the furniture etc. felt very premium, we slept well in the bed and had three cosy nights on the sofa. Wifi was good. Loved all the Bramley toiletries. The bathroom was totally stunning but to be honest the whole place was just beautiful. Pete and Sarah have also thoughtfully prepared a very comprehensive folder of recommendations for walks, restaurants, pubs etc nearby which was great. We walked over to the Quiet Site on our last night, would highly recommend for a cosy drink/pizza. All in all this felt like a very premium AirBnB experience and we’ll definitely be back.
