They are super responsive and pushed hard to get registration done on time. Very professional in a very complicated regulatory environment. I have confidence that they will administrate the effectively in the years ahead. Compliance is vital and I have confidence that they’ve done it all before.
TLPI have been very helpful and responsive throughout the process of setting up a company SSAS and FIC. Don't underestimate the admin and challenges required to get these up and running, both David Gittings and Courtney-Louise Lewis have been exemplary throughout. We highly recommend them.
This company is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, which in hindsight is a major red flag.
In my opinion, I was mis-sold a SSAS pension and the consequences have been severe both financially and personally.
I engaged with them after seeing an advert promoting the ability to use a SSAS pension to lend money to a private limited company. I made it very clear from the start that my company was not trading and had minimal activity. Despite this, I was reassured that this would not be an issue and was told to simply ensure there were “expenses going in and out” of the account.
Over several months, I repeatedly questioned whether my situation would affect eligibility, but was consistently reassured that everything was fine and would go through.
At no point was it explained that:
• The loan would require security of equivalent value, or
• That my business would need a meaningful valuation
These are fundamental requirements that should have been identified from the outset.
Based on this advice, I made major life decisions — including leaving secure employment, taking on costs, borrowing money, and adjusting my pension investments — all under the belief that funding was imminent.
After many months of delays and chasing updates, I was finally told that I did not meet the basic criteria, due to the requirement for security that my business could never meet. This should have been obvious from the beginning.
Despite being told I would be “put back in the position I was in before engaging with the firm”, this has not been honoured.
As a result, I have suffered losses in the region of tens of thousands, along with significant stress.
What is particularly concerning is that the company still advertises this service online, suggesting people can lend to their business even if they are just starting out. Based on my experience, this is highly misleading.
I would strongly urge anyone considering this company to proceed with extreme caution and seek independent, regulated advice first.
Having been in business over 25 years, it is rare to find a Service provider whose professionalism and agility matches TLPI. From the guidance on setting up the SSAS, to the operation, reporting, and governance - through the brilliantly helpful responsiveness of Spencer, Harley, Isi, and the rest of the team - this is enabling us to truly manage the Pension fund to maximise investments and returns. It's a jungle out there - and after 2 years with them, I cannot recommend TLPI highly enough.
TLPI has been fantastic from start to finish. From my first conversation with Gareth Robertson I had absolute confidence they were the right company for me and my pension assets. After enduring the long HMRC approval process, my SSAS is now fully established and funded, and we are already working on plans to invest and grow it. Gareth and the rest of the team dealt with the entire process extremely professionally, keeping me up to date throughout and responding to my many questions and queries quickly and effectively.
