DOG FRIENDLY STAY AT THE NEST DANEHILL I apologise this may well be the longest review I’ve ever given , but I have to say how outstandingly beautiful The Nest was. We stayed over the May bank holiday weekend and truly didn’t want to leave 🥹 There were so many extra fine touches, including books, games, DVDs, and blankets to wrap yourself in while sitting outside in the private garden area. The kitchen was well stocked and so well equipped to cook almost anything you wished. We had contacted Serena, host of The Nest, last year after seeing it on our Ashdown Forest on-line searches🪵🌳🍃of places to stay. I remember thinking it would be such a shame if it’s not dog friendly as let’s face it the location is a haven for dog walkers! I asked if Serena would consider making it a dog friendly accommodation as I so wanted to stay there and we found it hard in the surrounding area to find something nearly as good. We have Ted a small-medium terrier 🐶 and he literally goes everywhere with us… It was a true delight to learn that in fact Serena had now made The Nest dog friendly and wow it truly didn’t disappoint! On arrival we were met by Serena who was very welcoming and kindly talked us through some house rules which should be respected when bringing your pet. There is a pet policy in place that guests need to agree to prior to making a booking so that it ensures a clear understanding of what to expect and a happy stay for dog owners and their furry friends. We appreciated the space around us, and we had taken our own dog essentials and bedding. The small private garden accessed at the foot of the external staircase has faux grass in the first section so not a problem for toileting to walk Ted to the end of the garden, along the lane or into the woods which are on your doorstep. The stunning landscape soon takes hold of you... There’s also a gorgeous, village gastro pub The Coach & Horses just up the lane that’s also dog friendly and a short walk away, we sat outside in the lovely beer garden with Ted.🌳 All in all, The Nest was such a stunning idyllic woodland retreat for myself, my husband, but more importantly my Ted who absolutely loved it 🐶as much as we did! Thank you The Nest 🕊️we will return, see you soon 🫶

Hi Gail

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and I'm delighted that your stay was such a happy one for Ted as much as yourselves. Ted was so well behaved and a pleasure to host! I am sure your review will be of help to future guests considering bringing their dog for a stay at The Nest.

So thank you again for booking with us as I know you did a lot of research and how important it was to find the right dog friendly accommodation in the Ashdown Forest area with the luxury and comfort you'd expect of a VisitEngland/AA Rated 4**** Self-Catering and Gold Award retreat. Far and few between, so we are very pleased that you found us :)

As mentioned in your review, guests do need to agree to our pet policy prior to booking, which can be done by emailing us their pet request, as you did, and we will then email the pet policy agreement to ensure the accommodation is suitable as with Ted, and that expectations are managed. Thank you for respecting those rules throughout your stay and taking such good care of the accommodation, it was much appreciated. We look forward welcoming new guests with their well behaved dogs in the future by prior agreement for a happy dog friendly stay at The Nest.

Take care and I look forward to your return with gorgeous Ted (love the photos btw!).

Best wishes

The Nest is a cozy and comfortable accommodation, well equipped with everything you need. The surroundings are beautiful. You can take lovely walks from home, or in the Ashdown Forest a couple of miles away. The pub nearby is a plus.

Outstanding. Five stars & more! If you’re thinking of staying here, don’t delay because it’s wonderful. My husband booked us a last minute couple of nights at The Nest, for a quiet birthday get away. It is exactly like it looks in the photos, super clean, very comfy and in a beautiful location. The Host, Serena; is just lovely, friendly and very helpful. We’ll definitely be back to stay!

Leaving felt too soon! Serena’s warmth and love for the home she created was so evident. From her communication to every single thoughtful touch. It was as if Serena had deeply considered every aspect of what would make you truly feel at home. The peace of the space could be felt immediately and I really felt as if I was staying at a good friend’s exceptionally gorgeous home because of how comfortable I felt. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. 💓

My only wish would be to stay another few days! Such beautifully appointed accommodation with wonderful views. It was pristine throughout. The Nest is a very comfortable, warm, peaceful and relaxing space to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of life. The kitchen is well equipped including the basic essentials required for home cooking, (milk, tea, coffee, bread, butter, salt, pepper, oil etc) Serena has provided lots of local information and recommendations, should you wish to venture out. We didn't get to meet Serena, but her communication was excellent. I would highly recommend The Nest for a perfect short break or countryside getaway. We would definitely like to return one day. Thank you 🙏

From the moment we arrived at The Nest Danehill, we knew we’d found something truly special. Nestled in the tranquil woodland on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, the cottage combines luxury, comfort and nature in perfect harmony. The host's welcome was lovely and made us feel right at home! Location & Setting: The setting is dreamy, the cottage is tucked down a quiet country lane in the charming village of Danehill, surrounded by trees and with idyllic views of the forest beyond. The accomodation is quiet, private, and beautifully maintained. Waking up to birdsong and forest views each morning was pure bliss. Interior & Comfort: Inside, the design is superb: luxurious furnishings, high-quality finishes, thoughtful touches and a cosy atmosphere. It felt like a home-from-home, but elevated. The open-plan living space, the super comfy bed, the cozy sofa, the stylish kitchen all add to the sense of luxury and comfort. Amenities & Extras: There’s a lovely private garden with outdoor seating, which we sadly didn’t get a chance to use during our stay, but it looked like the perfect spot for morning coffee or a quiet evening surrounded by trees. The cottage also has everything you could possibly need, from a very well-equipped kitchen & bathroom to really reliable WiFi. Suitability: Whether you’re there for a romantic getaway, a small family holiday (if you use the sofabed), or simply a quiet short-break to reset, it ticks every box. The location gives peace and quiet, yet you’re not remote from amenities or transport links. Overall Experience: Our stay at The Nest Danehill was exceptional. The wonderful setting, the meticulous detail inside, the comfort of the cottage and the natural beauty surrounding it all combined to make our break unforgettable. We left feeling relaxed, uplifted and with some wonderful memories. If you’re looking for a luxurious woodland retreat with style, comfort and nature on your doorstep this is it. Five stars, no hesitation.

This was our 2nd visit to the wonderful Nest. Serena is a fantastic and thoughtful host. The space is so cosy and welcoming and exactly what was needed during a particularly difficult time for us at the moment and Serena has been more than accommodating. The location is perfect for nearby walks and the local pub and it really is a home from home. Thank you once again Serena and we will see you next year, as my aim is to be fighting fit and celebrating at The Nest ❤️

As soon as we stepped inside the Nest it gave the feeling of being cosy and welcoming . The lovely large four poster bed was very comfortable and we had three good nights sleep. The bathroom was compact with a very good power shower over the bath and soft fluffy towels. The fully equipped kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Everywhere was super clean. It’s a lovely secluded property with plenty of things to do in the surrounding area. Serena the owner was friendly and an excellent communicator, giving good instructions about the best way to get to the property. Nothing to dislike.

Nice Cosy Stay ☺ The room was stunning cute, clean, well-decorated ☹ I was disappointed to see the bedroom and living room was in the same space. In the room description, it said there was living room and separated bedroom.

Thank you for your review, and pleased you had a lovely stay. The property description is automatically generated by the booking.com system and unfortunately we have no control over how it processes our information. We do include our own detailed description under ‘about the property’, which states that it is an open-plan space.
We do also provide a variety of photos throughout our listing to show the layout of the accommodation so it is visually clear that it is open plan and with descriptions on the photos for further clarity. Sorry that you were not aware of this.
