DOG FRIENDLY STAY AT THE NEST DANEHILL
I apologise this may well be the longest review I’ve ever given , but I have to say how outstandingly beautiful The Nest was.
We stayed over the May bank holiday weekend and truly didn’t want to leave 🥹
There were so many extra fine touches, including books, games, DVDs, and blankets to wrap yourself in while sitting outside in the private garden area.
The kitchen was well stocked and so well equipped to cook almost anything you wished.
We had contacted Serena, host of The Nest, last year after seeing it on our Ashdown Forest on-line searches🪵🌳🍃of places to stay. I remember thinking it would be such a shame if it’s not dog friendly as let’s face it the location is a haven for dog walkers! I asked if Serena would consider making it a dog friendly accommodation as I so wanted to stay there and we found it hard in the surrounding area to find something nearly as good.
We have Ted a small-medium terrier 🐶 and he literally goes everywhere with us… It was a true delight to learn that in fact Serena had now made The Nest dog friendly and wow it truly didn’t disappoint!
On arrival we were met by Serena who was very welcoming and kindly talked us through some house rules which should be respected when bringing your pet. There is a pet policy in place that guests need to agree to prior to making a booking so that it ensures a clear understanding of what to expect and a happy stay for dog owners and their furry friends.
We appreciated the space around us, and we had taken our own dog essentials and bedding. The small private garden accessed at the foot of the external staircase has faux grass in the first section so not a problem for toileting to walk Ted to the end of the garden, along the lane or into the woods which are on your doorstep. The stunning landscape soon takes hold of you...
There’s also a gorgeous, village gastro pub The Coach & Horses just up the lane that’s also dog friendly and a short walk away, we sat outside in the lovely beer garden with Ted.🌳
All in all, The Nest was such a stunning idyllic woodland retreat for myself, my husband, but more importantly my Ted who absolutely loved it 🐶as much as we did! Thank you The Nest 🕊️we will return, see you soon 🫶

Hi Gail
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and I'm delighted that your stay was such a happy one for Ted as much as yourselves. Ted was so well behaved and a pleasure to host! I am sure your review will be of help to future guests considering bringing their dog for a stay at The Nest.
So thank you again for booking with us as I know you did a lot of research and how important it was to find the right dog friendly accommodation in the Ashdown Forest area with the luxury and comfort you'd expect of a VisitEngland/AA Rated 4**** Self-Catering and Gold Award retreat. Far and few between, so we are very pleased that you found us :)
As mentioned in your review, guests do need to agree to our pet policy prior to booking, which can be done by emailing us their pet request, as you did, and we will then email the pet policy agreement to ensure the accommodation is suitable as with Ted, and that expectations are managed. Thank you for respecting those rules throughout your stay and taking such good care of the accommodation, it was much appreciated. We look forward welcoming new guests with their well behaved dogs in the future by prior agreement for a happy dog friendly stay at The Nest.
Take care and I look forward to your return with gorgeous Ted (love the photos btw!).
Best wishes
