Found the website confusing. They carried out a credit check for a loan when I thought I was applying to be a member first.
I can accept if I made the mistake but what I absolutely can’t accept is the horrific, condescending, nasty email I received this morning from them. I had queried the hard credit search as I was worried. I thought I would receive friendly clarification but what I received was a horrific email at 8am starting with “how odd”. No “good morning”, no “let me explain this” or “let me clarify”. Just “how odd” and then proceeds to be condescending.
I have been severely unwell, trying to juggle looking after my 1 year old daughter and dealing with a few money worries. My goodness, sorry I had a moment of confusion and didn’t understand your online forms. Waking up to that email at 8am was massively unpleasant for someone already dealing with anxiety. Thanks very much guys.

Just to clarify for anyone reading, our website offers two options: “join” or “join and borrow”. If “join and borrow” is selected, the application form asks for the purpose of the loan, the amount required and permission for us to carry out a credit check before it can be submitted. Our intention is always to make this clear and never to mislead anyone.
Tone can sometimes be difficult to convey in written messages, but it was certainly not our intention to sound dismissive or condescending, only to explain what had happened in this instance.
