Spy tour of Mayfair and St. James’s
We were recently treated us to a spy tour of Mayfair and St. James’s given by the wonderfully entertaining David Harry, the London Spy First stop was bookseller Peter Harrington, where we gaped at an Oddjob selection of Ian Fleming first editions. Top price near £100k. A wonderful shop full of treasures old and older. David regaled us with stories and showed us relevant objects from his collection, including German-language propaganda dropped by the RAF. We visited a number of sites related to Bond, spying and wartime derring-do: - the Itsu where Alexander Litvinenko, poisoned with polonium, left so much radiation it had to be closed; - shirtmaker Turnbull & Asser, which created Churchill’s wartime Siren Suit, and Beretta, maker of Bond’s original handgun, before he switched to a Walther PPK when the Beretta’s silencer became stuck in his trouser waistband; - the exclusive clubs White’s and Boodle’s, conflated to Blades in Moonraker, where Bond exposed Drax cheating at cards; - the Carlton Club, with its cads’ corner for men who look up ladies’ skirts; - Churchill’s favourite cigar shop; - the offices of Operation Fortitude, the team that deceived Hitler into believing the invasion of Europe would begin in Calais; and - Hancocks, the jeweller that makes each Victoria Cross. Finishing in St James’s Square, where George Smiley had his own table in the London Library, and home to Ada Lovelace, daughter of Lord Byron and writer of the world’s first computer program, we parted ways with our guide at the military service In and Out Club, former home of Nancy Astor, the first woman to sit as an MP in the UK. It was a thoroughly enjoyable tour, and I cannot recommend it highly enough !
A guided tour off the beaten track
When it comes to London and espionage, David is a real fount of knowledge. From quirky anecdotes and magic tricks to historical facts and old memorabilia, he pulled all the stops for us. His guided tour around Westminster and St James' park was highly entertaining and educative. I would not hesitate in recommending him to anyone who is looking for a fun experience, especially if they are a fan of John Le Carré or Ian Fleming.

Excellent and informative walking tour
I thoroughly enjoyed the USA–UK: The Historic Relationship walking tour organised by Culture Mile and led by David Harry (The London Spy). David is an engaging and knowledgeable guide who brought the fascinating historical links between the City of London and the United States to life through stories, historical documents, maps and artefacts. The afternoon also included excellent visits to the Guildhall Art Gallery and St Bartholomew the Great, making for a well-organised, informative and thoroughly enjoyable experience. I learnt a great deal and would happily recommend David's tours.

This is an incredibly generous review, thank you so much!
The London Spy is an extraordinarily good guide.
I had the pleasure to listen to two guided tours by David Harry this week. The first was Americans in London. The second was a tour of the Guildhall Art Gallery. David's breadth of knowledge is astounding; based on meticulous research, and delivered with good humour. Looking forward to his next tour.

Thank you so much, hope to see you again soon
Wonderfully enthusiastic and an insightful tour!
David took us on a fantastic Fleet Street tour for our work summer do. He's insightful, funny, enthusiastic and has an endless knowledge of London's history. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend booking him in for a tour - you'll get to see and hear about a completely new side of London from a wonderfully passionate guide. Thank you David!
Best historical tour I've ever experienced
We had an exceptional experience on our tour with David. I can't say enough about his knowledge, his sense of humor and his ability to handle difficult situations - in our case, an incredibly hot day and huge crowds around us. He kept us laughing, we learned an enormous amount about British history and politics, and he was extremely gracious. Worth every penny.

Hi Erik, thank you so much for this incredibly kind review, it was a total joy to meet you both, thank you so much for asking me be your guide.
Fascinating insights and a lot of fun!
We took part in a Hatton Garden city walking tour run by David for the Cazenove Pensioners’ Association and what an enjoyable session it proved to be. David has such a great store of knowledge and manages to deliver it in a fun and entertaining way with just a little touch of magic! We discovered parts of the City we didn’t know of despite having worked there for many years. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much! What a generous review
Hatton Garden Tour
Another fascinating tour by David, this time regarding the history of the area of Hatton Garden. What I had assumed would be all about the diamond industry was actually far from it and the diamonds were just a mere footnote. Thank you David for a really interesting morning.

Thanks again, Katherine, Hatton Garden is one of my favourite places to Guide.
Spymaster extraordinaire!
It wasn't a walk I went on but David came and gave our group (trainee Westminster Guides) a talk about espionage in Westminster. He is a gifted and inspiring storyteller and, even better than imparting his knowledge, he leaves you with a thirst and curiosity for more. I found myself having to visit Raffles in the Old War Office building and inevitably ended up in the cocktail bar at the St Ermin's Hotel! Thank you, David!

Too kind Janet!
Excellent knowledge and entertaining tour!
I attended the Billingsgate Roman House & Baths Tour today with my son. David was absolutely superb. The knowledge he shared with us and his enthusiasm for the subject, made this the best London tour I’ve ever attended. His repartee and delivery were extremely interesting and detailed while also keeping the group thoroughly entertained. I will definitely be looking to book other tours he offers!

How fabulous! I can't thank you enough
Educational, entertaining, for all interests and ages - you will see a London you did not know or expect to see!
This tour is so much more than a tour. Take everything that you’ve ever experienced in a tour and then add some. A tour with The London Spy, was like a stroll with a story telling comedic historian who loves, lives and breathes this city. As two adults and two older teens, David accommodated all of our interest points into the walk to keep us interested and engaged. With information taken not just from history text books but his own personal experiences, insights and education, The London Spy gave us a tour with a difference. From the moment you meet David his professionalism blended with such a personable character, you can gain that he loves to share what he knows and loves about London… and boy it’s a LOT; Intrigue, modern history, current affairs, popular culture , architecture, politics, crime, literature and the plenty of quirky - mingled with his own personal archival objects to show. You will be looking below ground, ahead, behind and upwards into a London you thought you knew, but never saw it this way. The London Spy will educate you and entertain from those who are completely new to London or have lived a 100 years in London. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Brilliant tour of the Guildhall Art Gallery
I had a fantastic tour of the Guildhall Art Gallery with David, The London Spy. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and the tour was both highly informative and great fun. David is a very engaging speaker. The whole group was completely enthralled by his stories about the history of London and the fascinating background to the paintings. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough.
