Best cave tour ever! This was an amazing adventure into the Earth with our Icelandic lady geologist guide. She was a wealth of knowledge and when we turned our lamps out and listened to the near silence, she sang an Icelandic lullaby her mother sang to her. Mesmerizing I will never forget this wonderful experience. Out in the middle of no where, but worth the drive into the high country.

It would be good choice if not the freely accessible Surtshellir nearby. Here we pay for flat surface to step on, helmet with light and guiding. A bit overpriced.

To access the cave you have to go on a 90 minute guided tour. It is beautiful and absolutely worth your time and money! We went on the tour yesterday at 1 pm with a guide called Niall, who was very knowledgeable and helpful! He made the tour very exciting, interesting and fun! Thank you, Niall!!

We had a a nice tour with a super good guide. She made at the end of the tour a "darkness experience" with voices and songs in the completely dark cave, which we will never forget!

What a fun experience! Our tour guide was super friendly and knowledgeable. The walk was easy for our group of seven ranging in age from 9 to mid-70's. Dress warmly--it's 32 degrees F. in the cave! Also Google maps' time estimate was less than our actual drive time, which included a few miles on a gravel road. Allow extra time for yourself so you're not late like we were!
