Rixos was fun!
We had a great time at Rixos. The rooms were large enough. The environment is very engaging with two standard swimming pools, expansive beach, game room for teens, you can have all the fun without stepping out of the hotel. Service was very personal and intentional, it felt like we were the only guest in the hotel. All the staff were very pleasant, Sonia and Oye were remarkably unforgettable. Dining was superb as well.

Nowhere near a 5 *
Beautiful hotel, but seriously disappointing service — nowhere near five-star standards The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. The interior and exterior are breathtaking, the rooms are spacious and beautiful, and the swimming pool and spa are fantastic. We were a family of 10 staying across four rooms, and based on the hotel itself, we genuinely expected an amazing five-star experience. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined what could have been a fantastic stay. We booked seven months in advance and specifically emailed the hotel requesting four rooms on the same floor. Despite giving them so much notice, this request was not accommodated. What made this even worse is that you cannot access another floor without the key card for that floor. This meant that family members could not simply visit each other. We had to constantly meet at reception and ask someone from the relevant floor to come down and let us up. For a family of 10, this was extremely inconvenient and completely impractical. The reception staff were also disappointing. We found them to be unfriendly and unwelcoming, which is not what you expect when arriving at a five-star hotel. There was no real sense of warmth or hospitality. The hotel also offers a buggy service, which should have been extremely useful, especially for a large family. Unfortunately, every time we requested a buggy, it either took an unreasonable amount of time or simply never arrived. We repeatedly had to chase this up, which made the service feel completely unreliable. But the biggest disappointment by far was the restaurant staff, particularly at breakfast. We paid a lot of money to stay at this hotel, so we expected five-star service. What we received was the complete opposite. Breakfast orders regularly took around 40 minutes, even after repeatedly asking staff where our food was. On several occasions, cappuccinos took around 30 minutes to arrive. What made the situation even more frustrating was the attitude of the staff. There was very little urgency, very little friendliness and, most importantly, no apology when food or drinks were extremely late or forgotten. We also noticed what appeared to be very different treatment towards Arab guests compared with us. This was noticeable enough that even my children picked up on it. When we arrived at breakfast, nobody properly showed us where anything was. Yet an Arab family who arrived after us were personally shown around, given much more attention and treated in a noticeably friendlier and more accommodating manner. The most upsetting example was when we asked for French toast or pancakes and were repeatedly told that they were self-service. However, we could see the Arab family sitting at the next table being served these exact items by the staff. Whether this was intentional or not, that is how it felt to us as paying guests, and it was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing. No guest should leave a five-star hotel feeling that they have been treated less favourably than another guest. The attitude of some of the restaurant staff was also incredibly disappointing. When things were late, missing or incorrect, there was rarely any apology or acknowledgement. We were left feeling like we were inconveniencing them simply by asking for the service we had already paid for. And this is something I think hotels sometimes forget: a hotel itself does not necessarily make a holiday memorable — the people and the service do. We previously stayed at a DoubleTree by Hilton, and, to be completely honest, the hotel itself was nowhere near as impressive as this one. However, the staff went above and beyond for us. They were warm, helpful and genuinely made us feel valued as guests. Because of them, our stay was enjoyable and memorable, and it is the staff we remember most. That experience really highlighted the difference between having a beautiful hotel and having a truly great hotel experience. A beautiful building does not make a five-star hotel. The service, hospitality and way you make guests feel are just as important as the facilities. It is genuinely frustrating because this hotel has everything it needs to be exceptional. The property is beautiful, the rooms are wonderful, and the facilities are impressive. But the poor service at reception, the unreliable buggy service and, most of all, the restaurant service completely let the hotel down. I really wanted to give this hotel five stars, but I simply cannot justify doing so after this experience. If you are paying five-star prices, you should receive five-star service — and unfortunately, that was not our experience at all. Beautiful hotel. Beautiful rooms. Excellent facilities. But sadly, very disappointing hospitality. We will remember the poor service far more than we remember the beautiful surroundings, and based on our experience, I would not return or recommend this hotel.
