We had John and his crew come out to fix our old, crumbling stoop. In just a few days, they restored it into one of the best looking stoops on the block.

I needed a contractor knowledgeable in installing a specific type of commercial outdoor sealant for 12 outdoor balconies for my building. Along with sealing the tops of the balconies there was caulking of the ornamental limestone seams, priming and painting the undersides of the balconies. It was a difficult project to complete. John and his team handled the work in a professional, knowledgeable manner, on time and without any additional expenses. After a hurricane caused flooding in my basement (including my carpeted bedroom), I needed help right away. John came over within 24 hours to assess the damage. Another 24 hours later he sent the quote and within hours of us signing the contract, they came with a de-humidifier and air scrubber. The next day they came back to demo the carpet and lower portion of the walls. I appreciated their swiftness and kindness. They were very communicative and responsive.
I was surprised at the price of the work, given that the service they provided was only demo, cleaning, and renting and transporting some equipment. They also added an additional $1000 to their original price tag because of an extra day of work, which was very surprising and disappointing.
It was very nice to have someone else to take care of those things, but if I were to experience this again I would try to find a way to rent the equipment on my own and have other more affordable contractors do the demo.
They did not haul away what they demolished. They did kindly recommend a haul away service but I had to pay for that separately.
In addition, they advertise being a restoration company, but their initial quote does not include any restoring. They do have the ability to restore, but all they did was demo and cleaning. I would recommend thoroughly reading the contract and understanding what service they are providing before spending the money. I also expected that they would give more information on how to prevent this from happening in the future and possibly help to insure that, but most of that was left to my other contractors.
John also expressed his opinions and judgements on other work that was being done at the house and other contractors who were working at the same time. Those opinions and judgements were not asked for and I find it off-putting when a contractor comes in and tells me how much better they are than other contractors. I am open to recommendations, but criticism without understanding the context is unnecessary and unprofessional.
Upon initial inspection, John also told me I had acted incorrectly in putting fans on the impacted areas. I appreciated that feedback and now I know for next time, but I had been overwhelmed and in crisis mode and didn't know what to do. I wanted someone to come in and help, and didn't need them to make me feel like I acted incorrectly in a tough situation.
If you are looking for someone who will just come in and demo and clean quickly, these are your guys. They are a family business and they do great work.
John and his crew did a great job remediating the mold issue in our finished basement! They were clean, courteous and prompt! The results were even better than we expected!

Superior Restoration lives up to its name, and the owner John Carbone performed above and beyond, proud of his work and passionate about it. The newest Carbone generation, Matthew, is now in the business, and Matt has been well-trained by John and adds even more to the expertise and professionalism of this Company. You must consider these guys for any water emergency or upgrade project!
John spent several hours with us explaining the scope of the repairs needed to our 120-year old Brooklyn brownstone building - at one point even indicating an equal but lower-cost drainage option that proved to be a significant savings. John was present during the work, and gave us a complete and detailed on-site summary afterwards. His work crews are neat during, and clean up afterwards. The men were on time and considerate of the residents in the building.
Not an inexpensive process, and probably not the least expensive provider in the City, but this is an industry where you get what you pay for, and Superior is a real find when it comes to preserving our home and investment, and enhancing the value of our property.
Update: June 2025: we had another water leak problem caused by our neighboring building. John and Matthew were out within hours to remedy the situation and provide invaluable assistance. These guys are the real thing!!

It's rare to have a great experience with a contractor, and am always wary, but Superior gave me a really wonderful experience, and gave me a beautiful space on time and with actual accurate quoting.
John and his team came in to restore our space after a fair bit of water damage. The space as a whole was musty, with exposed crumbling stone and uneven floor, messy looking pipes, etc. It was a true Manhattan nightmare, but Superior not only replaced the walls with mold resistant siding, but they took care of refinishing the exposed foundation making it smooth, finding us additional space, and concealing some of the less desirable portions of our space.
The air smells good, the room is brighter, and the overall construction process was actually pleasant. Highly recommend!
