I'm 45 started the game later than I wanted but it's never late to learn something new .. Derek has a great atmosphere for his classes he makes you feel at ease with no judgement of your level of fitness he goes above and beyond to help you elevate mentally physically and spiritually great teacher and mentor I'm glad I chose his classes and am excited for my new journey !

Derek’s MMA program is awesome! The workouts are tough but super rewarding, and they really help build strength, endurance, and confidence. The best part is the people — everyone’s welcoming and supportive, no matter your skill level. Whether you’re new or experienced, this is the perfect place to train, grow, and have fun doing it.

Really lovely experience for our kiddo looking to get into MMA. Derek was informative from the jump, a really concise communicator explaining the options of having him come in for a trial and then the options for signing up for a program. We're excited for our son to get started with a 12 week program and are thankful to Derek for bringing him in!

The instructor does a fantastic job of bringing on new students at their own place. He's also very knowledgeable in his craft! Update: After 3 years of training, the difference of when my daughter started to today is literally NIGHT and DAY! I figured that by the end of her time here, she be much better than when she started. However, what I didn't account for was how much more confident she would be. Not to mention how fit she became from all of the direction Derek and his staff provided. I'm so proud of the results and am forever grateful for what Strike Zone has done for her. I'll admit I was a bit apprehensive at first, but it has turned out to be one of the best decisions in letting her be apart of the Strike Zone family.

We’ve had such a positive experience at StrikeZone Mixed Martial Arts, especially thanks to Coach Derek. My son Cole is six, and we were looking for the right fit—somewhere that could help him build confidence, focus, and discipline in a fun, supportive environment, while also teaching proper technique from the start. Coach Derek was amazing from the start—he made Cole feel welcome right away and took the time to connect with him on day one. Before his first class, Coach Derek brought Cole in for a private 1-on-1 session to ensure the class was the right fit for his skill set. That kind of thoughtful approach really stood out. His first class was awesome! The very next day, Derek sent a sweet follow-up text about how well Cole did and what they’d be working on next. He runs things differently—not just providing great instruction, but an fantastic customer experience. Before finding StrikeZone, we tried a few classes at popular jiu-jitsu gym nearby. The classes were overcrowded—with more than 20 kids at a time—and Cole had a hard time staying focused and engaged. At StrikeZone, the difference is night and day. The classes are very small with a semi-private feel. They provide clear instruction, encouragement, and a strong focus on technique. Coach Derek provides lots of positive feedback and fun. Cole looks forward to class. He’s not only learning martial arts but also important life skills like respect and perseverance. I felt so confident in StrikeZone and its leadership that I signed up for a year-long commitment—and I’m so glad I did. Highly recommend StrikeZone—and especially Coach Derek—for anyone looking for a more focused, supportive martial arts experience for their child.

I’m not into martial arts but do enjoy a good fitness class. The instructor at Strikezone customized an 8 week kickboxing fitness class for me and 3 of my girlfriends of a certain age. The instructor tailored the workouts to fit our individual physical abilities and we all experienced a marked improvement in our fitness levels by the completion of the course and it was fun.

Don’t let “MMA” scare you off—you don’t need any background in martial arts to join. What really sets this gym apart is the instructor’s commitment to your personal goals. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach here. As a woman, I can say this gym is incredibly welcoming and not intimidating at all. The instructor truly meets you where you are, and that’s what keeps me recommending this gym/instructor . It’s not just about physical strength—it’s about prioritizing your health in a way that doesn’t feel like a chore anymore. Can’t say enough good things! We are coming up on year 2 here with our now 8 year old. We came to strike zone with hopes of progress in attention focus and try hard… advancing belts was a bonus!! We had been enrolled in another martial arts school and he just wasn’t catching on after almost a full year. We could see the few time he did apply himself that he could but most classes weren’t great & he struggled with keep his focus to perform… so we went on a search for a better fit! So grateful we found strikezone. Kru Derrick and the staff are great.. not only has our son advanced beyond our expectations but he’s held accountable every class to do his best, his focus has improved and his confidence is shining in and out of the gym!
