Brought my Doberman to Steve, and while she was a quick learner, I needed help with her pulling on her leash and impulse control/good house manners. I enrolled her in the two week board and train program and ever since her obedience has improved. I use to dread walks because of her old bad habits, but now they are something to look forward to after her training. I definitely recommend the programs with Steve the Dogman.

We had a fantastic experience with Steve the Dogman. He is professional and extremely knowledgeable about positive reinforcement techniques. Steve was patient and calm with us and our dogs. The emphasis on positive reinforcement made training sessions enjoyable for myself and our dogs. Our younger dog, Mia experienced serious separation anxiety. With Steve's help, she can now be left at home safely for an appropriate amount of time. I highly recommend Steve the Dogman for dog training needs.

While it’s been a while since we had Steve come out, he truly helped my Aussie and I live a more comfortable yet structured life. We had an incident a few years back, worried about what options I had left, and through training with Steve, my girl and I to this day are doing great! Thank you Steve!

Helped me and my fiance understand what our puppy responds too and understands, was very considerate of our opinions on what we are comfortable with during training our puppy and definitely made it considerably easier to teach him new things. Steve is a very respectable man comes up with solutions that would work with your dog and it is very impressive. He is making his way to being an even better boy than before his training and I am excited to have Steve help us during our trainings with our puppy.

We cannot say enough about Steve! My husband and I adopted a scared, timid 4 month old puppy and we had no idea how to help her! She was good with us but everything else seemed to overwhelm her. We contacted Steve in hopes of making our Stella’s life much less stressful! He sure came through!!! He showed us how to improve her confidence. Gave us the tools we needed to support and continue training a well balanced, happy dog! Steve is definitely the person to call if you need help with your dog!

If I could give Steve 10 stars I would !!! I would highly recommend Steve to anyone looking for a great trainer !!!! He has done wonders with Moose in a short period of time - he knows what he’s doing my dog is very receptive to his training skills and I did have a trainer before I was introduced to Steve and there is no comparison- I cannot say enough about him- he is a dog whisper in my opinion and has helped me so much in not only training Moose but giving me the tools to keep it going to reach my goals. He’s the best 👍

Steve is absolutely the best dog trainer out there. He is patient, kind and understanding. He will train your dog the way you want your dog trained. I don't believe in choker collars and Steve trained my dog without using one. I will recommend Steve The Dogman to everyone. ❤️

As a fellow dog trainer Steve and I have had the opportunity to work together on a few cases and see each other’s training in action. Steve’s amount of dog training knowledge is genuinely impressive and he has a real clear way of breaking down training topics to his clients. 80% of training is communicating well with the dog’s owners and Steve is a natural at this. Even as a fellow trainer he has taught me how invaluable being clear and more organized can be. Steve has a great feel for training. He is very smooth with his leash and handling skills. He is gentle yet very effective. Great off leash skills as well. Steve is very educated on many different training methods and always keeps an open mind to new ideas. We’ve had many discussions breaking down different training approaches and discussing all the pros and cons that come with them. You can immediately tell that Steve is very passionate about training and isn’t just following the sheep out there. He thinks deeply and thinks for himself. Most of the training world is very dog eat dog (pun intended) I find it important to promote good training when I see it and Steve is one of the good ones. Validation from clients is great, but I also think validation from another qualified professional is a big deal. If you’re looking for a good training in northern lllinois give Steve a call

We adapted a 1.5 year old husky who had a string of bad luck. We were his fourth home and soon realized he had issues with biting when something made him nervous. I was at the end of my robe and wasn’t sure we would be able to keep him when I reached out to Steve. Steve did a great job working with us and Nash. He really educated us on how we should handle a dog like Nash. He gave us a lot of tips and showed us how to make Nash less reactive. We then educated all of the people in our lives to respect Nash’ boundaries. We haven't had a biting incident since working with Steve. Nash has stolen our hearts and is turning out to be an amazing family dog. I am so glad we reached out to Steve and did not give up on this amazing creature.

When I called Steve he was friendly and understanding. He listened to my concerns and validated them. When Steve arrived he was great with our dog. We discussed our concerns and he had solutions to all of our issues. Steve was easy to talk to, great with our dog, and showed us how to correct on the undesirable behaviors we are trying to avoid. I would highly recommend Steve!

Steve came to help us with our new Silver lab puppy Enzo. I was at my wits end because we haven’t had a puppy for 16 years and had forgotten how much work they could be. Steve was so calm and helped my husband and I immensely! . Enzo is food driven and a very energetic pup. Steve is true dog whisperer, he was able to calm Enzo down and showed us various techniques to encourage the right behavior. Steve’s training method does not rely solely on using treats to get control of your dog.
