Steel Horse Columbia is a very special place and will hold a special place in my heart forever! The experience I was looking for was not a luxury hotel or tourist trap but something authentic, and adventurous and that can’t be bought off the shelves. Evette put a guided multi day ride together through the mountains, guided by very experienced and caring mountain guide and horseman, with her amazing horses, excellent over the challenging terrain with the biggest hearts. The people, the place, the local food, the scenery, the route- everything made for an absolute magical adventure. If you are in search of something special, you don’t need to look further and like me you will likely fall in love and go back for more

An unforgettable experience! The 2 hour sunset ride was perfect, and Yvette’s service was top-notch (she even set up a fantastic coffee tour for us). The property itself is stunning; it’s right in nature but still easy to get to from Filandia. I would definitely consider staying at her beautiful finca next time.

We had a fantastic experience at Steel Horse Colombia! From the moment we got there Yvette and her team made us feel so welcome. The property itself sits on a hill that provides near-magical views. It’s very clear the animals are well loved and taken care of - as a first time rider I thought it was going to be much more intimidating but thanks to Yvette and Hugo, I was able to pick it up quickly! The food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared - you truly have everything you could need or want when you’re here. If you were lucky enough to come across this place when searching google maps, don’t walk - RUN to book this experience!!

A lovely experience seeing the landscapes from a horse back. Great guides, great horses and a really nice athmosphere! We felt we had a perfect day. Some sun, some rain but it just made the experience even better. Swimming in a waterfall was fantastic too.

Steel Horse Colombia is an amazing experience and gives you the chance to absorb yourself in Colombian life. I have just spent a glorious 2 weeks horse riding, walking and experiencing the local sights and culture. The riding is a fantastic way to see the real coffee district off the beaten path. The area is so beautiful and the people so friendly and helpful. Yvette is a fantastic host and looked after us so well. Truly wonderful trip!

There is not much more we can add to previous posts - it is a brilliant place to spend some time in Colombia. We were a family with kids between 9 and 14 and Yvette and Hugo tailored the riding experience perfectly. Horses were in good shape and suitably fit for the stunning landscape.

I spent three nights here and it’s truly been one of the highlights of my two week trip in Colombia. I chanced upon it while searching for unique locations near Filandia and knew immediately that it was for me. However, nothing prepared me for quite how special the place is. The finca is beautifully decorated, looked after and so cosy and comfortable. My room looked out on beautiful views and I could see both sunrise and sunset. I had the best three nights sleep that I’d had in a while. The meals were all delicious, every breakfast different and one evening I sat and read my book by the fire. We did yoga, went on a lovely horse trek and swim in waterfalls all totally immersed in nature and away from other tourists. Yvette’s calm nature and kindness is really what brings the place together. She went out of her way to make sure my stay was as comfortable and tailored to my needs and the other guest who arrived while I was staying. I am so grateful for all the effort that she puts in. I really hope to come back sometime in the future, but in the meantime hope the project continues to succeed in giving people the experiences that I had.

Great stay in the neighborhood of filandia so peaceful. The horses are treated with respect and as someone who worked a lot with horses I could immediately see that they were healthy and strong horses who enjoyed their “work”. Yvette is an amazing host who will make you feel at home (or in my case like a dream, with horses in the garden)

We had a wonderful experience on a three hour ride. Our guide tailored the tour to our wishes and matched us with horses that were gentle and calm. The horses are well taken care of and are obviously happy living on the ranch. We definitely recommend this if you would like to experience the beauty of el Eje Cafetero.

Our group had a great time horseback riding. We had two little kids and the owner took great care to ensure they had a safe and fun time. The horses were extremely well mannered and well trained. The place is amazing and the juice she offered pre and post ride was so good. We highly recommend this place.

I have just finished a 6 week stint at Steel Horse Colombia and there is not a thing about this farm that is nothing short of exceptional. The owner Yvette and her hired hands have created a truly special experience that is a once in a lifetime event that I simply cannot recommend enough. Yvette is a true superstar and savant when it comes to her trade. Creatively minded much of the artwork located at the farm she has designed herself with a clear passion and elegance for every piece. With determination she has created a vision whereby visitors such as myself can relax in comfort, explore with excitement and interact with ease. This teamed with her outstanding knowledge and experience of horses. Developed from a young age, has meant she has become an exceptional tutor on the topic of horses. Perfectly marrying a pleasant stay with a truly amazing horse riding experience. Offering multiple tours she has taken me through stunning scenery which can be just as unique during the day as they are when approaching sunset. All of the horses are well looked after and are always excited to stretch their legs on the many trails Yvette tours through. Sometimes large and intimidating animals, horses can for some like myself seem like a daunting challenge at first. But this emotion quickly melts away when Yvette expertly shows you the ropes and once you have the basics I would argue it’s easier than riding a bicycle and it becomes easy to feel almost like a pro after only a short time. Just remember to respect the horse and instructor as best you can and in my experience they will treat you the same in kind!!! The room in which I resided had 5 fabulous wide length windows with stunning golden curtains allowing for practically a full 360 degree view making one feel almost as royalty looking out of your own personal mirador. The room also featured a lovely on-suite bathroom with tiles and stonework reminiscent to your local spa a perfect place to refresh and relax. In terms of location it is a short 45 minute walk from the nearest town with some of the most breathtaking views imaginable making every trip into town its own unique journey. The vibrant close by town of Filandia itself is stuffed to the brim with good food, friendly locals and a variety of tourist attractions. All of which can also be easily accessed through dedicated taxi services Yvette has kindly gotten into contact with and found their numbers for ease and convenience. Finally coming to the overall service unsurprisingly based on what I’ve already said, it’s immaculate. Highly reflective of her character it is clear to see Yvette goes above and beyond for all of her guests. Always asking if there is anything you need she will be happy to help in anyway she can every single time. Along with this also comes a huge amount of attention to detail that she demonstrates when it comes to her rooms, local activities and practical knowledge of the surrounding area. So in short yes I certainly would recommend to visit Steel Horse Colombia. It quite simply, well and truly is an experience of a lifetime.

Séjour très sympa a Steel Horse. Nous avons passée une nuit sur place, et avons adorer la chambre et la propriété. Nous avons aussi fait une balade à cheval. Nous avions demandé celle de 3h mais suite à un mal-entendu nous avons fait celle de la journée. Quelques petits problème a soulever … la balade est très belle, dans les finca, nous avons pu galopé a plusieurs reprises (nous sommes des cavalière expérimentées) et nous étions seulement deux. Par contre, le guide est resté sur son téléphone une grosse partie de la rando, quasiment aucun échange avec nous, ce qui est rare pour avoir fait plusieurs trek et excursions pendant notre voyage. La balade de la journée doit être de 8h dont 6h a cheval. Nous sommes parties a 10h et revenues a 15h, bien loin des 8h. Nous n’avons pas préparé les chevaux non plus alors que c’est annoncé dans la balade de la journée. Nous ne sommes pas poser de question car pour nous, nous partions pour 3h seulement ! Le prix de la balade a la journée est le double ! Nous ne sommes pas sure que ça les vaille… Yvette est cependant une hôte gentille, nous avons prit un verre dans Filandia avec elle et son équipe, et ils nous offert le ride vers le ranch :)

Steel Horse Colombia is the perfect escape from city life. The breathtaking sunsets, fresh mountain air, and stunning views make you slow down and truly enjoy the moment. Yvette is an incredible host—so kind, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about what she does. You can feel how much she loves and cares for her 11 BEAUTIFUL horses. We booked the horseback riding experience and it was absolutely magical. Riding through the mountains and farms felt like something out of a movie. Thank you, Yvette, for such a memorable and heartwarming stay. We’ll definitely be back!

Steel Horse Colombia was a unique and amazing experience. My friends and I stayed for three nights and did a full-day horseback riding tour through breathtaking mountain views, lush green landscapes, and a beautiful waterfall. The horses were gentle and well cared for, and the accommodations were cozy and comfortable. I enjoyed every part of the stay, including the afternoon coffee. I wanted stayed longer. Highly recommended this place!!

My partner and I spent three nights at Steel Horse this May (2025). We arrived one evening, spent the next two days trekking on horse back with an away stay at another Finca and ended our stay back at Steel Horses for the night. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. We were the only guests at the time of our visit meaning our stay was really personal and tailored to our needs. We ate at both Steel Horse and at the Finca we stayed away at and the food was incredible-home cooked and traditional and super tasty! The horses were lovely-all different, lots of personality and all really healthy and happy, it is clear that the welfare of the animals is a top priority. The riding was incredible-amazing views and scenery, off road trails and riding through rivers, it truly was a once in a lifetime experience. Our trip also incorporated some hiking into a forest and to see a waterfall which was a great bonus! The accommodation was great at both Steel Horse and at the Finca we stayed in. The away Finca was run by a lovely, welcoming family and there was even an outdoor poor and hot tub to use that evening! Yvette is truly a special person who has created something unique for people to come and enjoy. We were also accompanied on our trek by Hugo, a local horseman who was clearly very experienced and knowledgable. We felt completely looked after. I will not forget this place and the incredible few days we had.

Me and my boyfriend had an absolutely lovely afternoon at the Steel Horse, riding with Yvette through the rolling hills around Filandia. It was more or less my boyfriends first time on horseback and Yvette did an amazing job guiding him through it (he was exhausted but very happy afterwards 😂). Most importantly, the horses were very well looked after and it was obvious that this was the main focus! We would love to come back. Highly recommend!
