Fantastic place to stay. Traditional Okinawa style home but fully restored with all the modern amenities. The owner was an excellent communicator. The home was clean and extremely comfortable. Felt like a home away from home. Can not be more positive about our wonderful experience. Would class this as a perfect Airbnb.
Cozy and sweet space!I highly recommend this place when you come to Okinawa, you may think it’s a bit far from city centre but there’s more than those. Great Okinawan Nature! My family walked around the town, we can see the nice sunrise 🌅! My parents loved this place and said to me want to stay again next time. And so do I. 😊
Our family of four (two young kids and two adults) had a wonderful stay at Tomoko's home! It is absolutely beautiful, comfortable, and had everything we needed and more. What an incredible home base for our stay in Nanjo, Okinawa! We explored the island, took walks along the water, and felt very happy to come home to this beautiful space. Communication was absolutely stellar!
Tomoko is a great host. I've stayed in many traditional townhouses - Machiya - across Japan, her home remains a truly memorable one. It's beautifully kept, full of thoughtful details. Once you step in, you could feel the care she has put into this space.Within a 10-minute walk from the house, you'll find an excellent restaurant with delicious grilled eel and another spot serves local cuisine. You can also take a walk to the seaside, beach, and Chinen Misaki. Also, as a practitioner of the tea ceremony, I was especially delighted to notice the utensils like kama, hishaku, futaoki…among the decor. I sincerely hope this wonderful home continues to welcome guests for many years to come.

Echo-san,Thank you for the wonderful review!I was deeply moved by your handwritten letter; your Japanese handwriting is truly lovely and elegant. It was a joy to have a guest who appreciated the tea ceremony utensils like the kama and futaoki. Thank you also for leaving the house so spotlessly clean. You are always welcome back anytime!
Staying at Tomoko-san and Taira-san's traditional Okinawan house was a truly amazing and relaxing experience. They were warmly welcoming from the very beginning to the day we departed. They have thoughtfully renovated and designed every inch of the home to be comfortable and accommodating, with local history intertwined into the home decor. Although the listing says one bath, there is a second toilet outside and an onsen soaking tub. These were a huge bonus that we were not expecting. We are so glad we stayed here during our time in Okinawa.
Tomoko-san's place was very beautiful with attention to details and we had a pleasant stay throughout. She was friendly, kind and communicative. It was easy to check in and to park. The architecture and the interior design made the stay very memorable and one of a kind. They also had nice selection of books that I wanted to check out if I had more time. There was a crib and baby chair available upon request for our little one. It was nice to spend some time away from the hustle bustle, just that the nearest convenience stores are +20 min. by foot, and as for location, perhaps due to low season (December), possible restaurants nearby were either open only for lunches or closed early. However the kitchen is well equipped and we were able to make dinner without a problem. We wanted to stay longer, but the place was booked out! Thank you Tomoko-san for hosting us.
Host was excelled in all aspects from communication, solving and pro active in offering options which I was very thankful for.She smsed me daily to check if all is good. The weather was cold when we stayed and host self offered to bring us a portable heater. My kids were so thankful for the heater as it kept them warm after their shower. The house were equipped with quality products.Just a note that theres no privacy as the house have no blind at their window/sliding doors. Most household items are provided for you.Thank you Tomoko San for the great hospitality 🙏🏼
