After having a really bad experience with a previous handyman who massively cocked up a key lock situation for me which then cost me £60 to put right with a professional locksmith, I was really wary then of looking for someone else. However, when I saw the reviews of St Austell Handyman Ltd on Facebook, I decided to take the plunge again and I am so glad I did! I was absolutely blown away by Sams exceptional work from the two visits he then made to my beloved home. He went above and beyond on multiple jobs showing incredible attention to detail and a passion for his craft. Not only is he incredibly skilled, but also a pleasure to have in my house, in that he was cheerful, explanatory, and kind. He took the time to ensure I was happy with it all and also very patient in answering what was possibly inane questions from me! Five stars is literally not enough, I'd give him 150 stars if I could! He worked efficiently and tidied up after himself which was so appreciated. I absolutely highly recommend Sam for a reliable, trustworthy and outstanding handyman. In my mind he has transformed my home leaving me feeling like it was Christmas both times as I was dancing with happiness! Thank you so much Sam, you are an absolute Angel.
It was also an absolute pleasure to communicate with Sams partner Ruby, who does the Admin of sorting out times and dates. She was just so lovely and helpful at all times and nothing was too much trouble, so thank you Ruby!

I had St Austell Handyman install a TV media wall, and I’m absolutely thrilled with the result! The project started as a simple job to add wall support and a TV bracket, but I threw in a curveball by deciding to add wood panelling to bring some colour and warmth to the room. Sam adapted straight away, updated the quote, and I was more than happy with the revised plan.
The finished media wall looks amazing. Sam hid all the cables neatly, mounted the soundbar, and made sure every detail was spot on. His attention to detail is exceptional, true perfectionism. From start to finish, everything was handled so professionally. Sam came out to assess the project, and Ruby quickly followed up with a clear, fair quote. On installation day, Sam arrived on time and got straight to work. He’s also very friendly and an absolute pleasure to have in your home.
As a bonus, I had a wooden coat rack that needed shortening to fit a wall, and Sam was more than happy to trim the ends and mount it on the wall for me, a small touch that made a big difference!

I recently had a premium pull-out bin installed in my kitchen by St Austell Handyman and I couldn’t be happier with the whole experience.
From the start, Ruby was fantastic in providing a clear and efficient quote. Sam then came out to confirm the measurements, and everything was explained and agreed upon before we set a convenient installation date the following week.

Wanted to charge £75 plus vat for a handy man and then when I asked for them to explain why it’s so much the lady laughed and said it was a strange question. Terrible service
To clarify — this individual has never used our service.
He only asked what our rates were, and during that call he repeatedly spoke over our office staff while they were trying to explain what the pricing includes. The behaviour was intimidating enough that our team member laughed nervously while still trying to remain polite and professional. We treat our staff and customers with respect and expect the same courtesy in return.

Good workmanship but dreadful customer service
The work carried out was good. What lets them down badly is the really poor communication from their office - far too slow to respond to emails, quotes with wrong address details, emails go unanswered / too slow to respond to emails and supplier deliveries not effectively communicated to, or followed up with the most important person - the customer. Overall, okay/disappointed is my experience given how expensive they are. As a business they have a niche but the customer service from their back office requires a great deal of professional improvement and that is what holds them back and has led to mediocre rating from me

I hired these people several months ago to move a few pieces of large furniture from my house to another house. They turned up on time and were courteous, friendly and very, very efficient. They were also quick to remove the furniture and load into their van and unload etc at the other address. They didn’t waste any time and were straight to it. I would definitely use them again and recommend them for their excellent service.
