C’est une pépite cachée dans Palerme .
This is a visit into a deep love someone has forstered over many years for the Country that is their home, the very floor beneath their feet, the little things, the details, the changing times, and the mosaic of domestic and public images people walk upon. It is a home, open to you, an intense place and yet a space to quietly sit, and talk, and look with focus and warmth. I learned so much and am gratful. If I were to share one thing which was explained to me, it was that a floor was considered no place for sacred art, so in consequence artists could step out from under the pressure to somehow make devotional floor tiles, and rather experiment - and they did! Viva Sicilia!
Luogo veramente magico. Meta consigliatissima.

What an amazing surprise!!!! This is one of the most special places I've ever visited. The guides are so full of information, all of the history of the tiles, of the palace etc. and super friendly. Every room is unique and tells a fascinating story. The generosity of the owners to open their house and share the gifts that have taken years to gather is inspirational and there is nothing like it anywhere else. It's a total must do - highly recommended and could easily visit it a second time. Plus it's in a fantastic part of Palermo. Grazie molto :-)

Art, craft, history and cats!
A charming and delightful experience, definitely worth a visit! The tile museum is a great way to experience the history, beauty and artistry of Sicily. It’s also the perfect balance, providing an informational tour by a friendly, knowledgeable guide, after which you can take time to explore on your own. Even though this is a private home photos are allowed. In addition to the huge collection of tiles there is also a collection of vintage tins (food, medicine and other items) which show local and regional graphic design from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There is also a fantastic collection of cookie/biscuit molds in the kitchen. As other reviews have mentioned you do need to keep an eye out to see the buzzer for the museum and there is one short flight of stairs to get there. Also meeting the friendly cats that live there was fun but people with allergies should be aware. If you’re in Palermo this is a great way to spend an hour or so be sure to check it out!
Incredible museum! It's a private collection, in someone's home that operates as a museum between certain hours.
The tour is so informative, Claudio takes you through the history of the tiles (each room is a different era, some are from Napoli, some are from Sicilia) and you learn about this wonderful art form from South Italy. Absolutely recommend this unique and fascinating experience. If you love Art History or just History this hidden gem is the place :)
