The Staar is a hidden gem. The food is out of this world. I had the tomahawk and it was by far the best I’ve ever had. We ate here twice during our 10 night stay and I honestly wanted to visit more to try the rest of the menu. We were a party of six and everyone felt the same as me. This was the best restaurant we visited. Thank you to all your staff who made our visit’s so special.

Hidden Gem
We stumbled upon this restaurant 2 days before we were leaving Albufeira, we only wish we had found it earlier in our holiday. The place is excellent, nothing could be faulted, food, service, staff, contemporary decor, and it is excellent value for money. The restaurant is very popular and most tables were reserved, they managed to fit us in with an outside table. The meal and wine were so good, we booked for the following evening. The sea bass, Portuguese salt cod, black pork, scallops and spring rolls were excellent, as was the house red wine. This restaurant is a little gem.

Worst service ever
Food ok but terrible service after they took our order and served drinks we sat with empty glasses for 20 mins and lots of staff kept walking past and no interaction. This is not a cheap restaurant so why should you have to get up and ask for a drink . We did say our concerns to the waiter and he brought management but she was not really bothered with our problems she said it was busy and we should have stopped a waiter and asked for drinks. Sorry but if you are paying a premium price you expect good service. I would rather have gone to the indian just up the road they know how to treat people. I recommend not to use this restaurant until they get the service sorted

Fantastic Restaurant right in the heart of Old town
Wow, what a fantastic restaurant, we did our research on the best places to eat in Old Town Albuferia and this restaurant came up in all of the reviews. The quality and service was exceptional, the food was sublime, we had the Prawn Soup and the Fois Gras Pate as starters both were exceptional, we then had the Tomahawk Steak for 2 to share, desserts we had the Chocolate Martini and the Banoffee which was to die for, we would class ourselves as foodies and we really couldn't fault any aspect of the meal at all, so good we booked to go back to the restaurant 2 days later, cost wise was not overly expensive compared to a lot of the restaurants either overall a fantastic experience

Top Notch Place - Recommended
We first visited Staar during a trip to Albufeira in 2024 and had such a great time we booked again in September 2025. As before, the service, food, drink and ambiance were all excellent - indeed so much so that we booked again for two nights later. We also had a great time then and it is perhaps the overall consistency of quality that is Staar's trademark. There are many good restaurants in Albufeira but Staar is a cut above the rest whilst its prices aren't. Highly recommended.
We (3 couples) recently enjoyed dinner at Staar. The food, service and ambiance were all outstanding. There are many very good restaurants in Albufeira but it is a cut above the rest in everything but price. We also dined at the restaurant while holidaying in the area last year and had exactly the same top notch dining experience - i.e. they deliver quality consistently. Highly recommended.
