I just dropped in without an appointment because my key fob battery was dying and they were near where I live. Never been to this establishment before, but they helped me immediately. Staff were pleasant and friendly. I waited about 15 minutes because they had to order the battery. The waiting room is clean, and offers coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. My battery was replaced and I was charged a reasonable price. I'll definitely return when my Volvo needs any work.
I took my vehicle here several months ago with a coolant leak, they fixed it, but a clamp immediately failed or was not tightened, dumping the coolant and causing the near overheating of my car.
I made the call to the shop and was able to get them to repair the damage and test for issues that may have arised due to the engine getting hot.
He said they would fix this issues without formally taking responsibility for them, but would not be liable for any future issues. That seemed fair, as I cannot expect them to take blame for future problems related to the system.
Several weeks later it was fixed and I paid the $2200 bill for the new line, coolant back flow, and their time, then walked away, not very satisfied but pretty certain I had a working vehicle.
Then, six months later my car dumps the coolant again. I take it to a different shop, where they find that one of the o-rings was split in the front at the previous repair (likely during install) and what appears to be pick hole is in a new line in the back section causing a leak.
Paid that shop $795 to repair the damage, do another leak check, and change the oil.
I think I know which shop I will not be returning to in the future, and I wish I would have taken my vehicle to them in the first place. I would have probably avoided all of the run around and rework.
::EDIT::
I received a call from Specialized today (19SEPT25), acknowledging the review given and offering to stand by their work and make it right.
My wife explained to me that while I took the unwillingness towards future repairs quite literally (something I'm very apt to do, regrettably), that they likely meant that they did not want me to call them blaming every issue that may arise from now until the end of times on that one incident. But, as this seems more directly related to maintenance and repairs performed that I should have called them and given them the opportunity to fix it, and that they probably felt blindsided these six months later by my review.
For my misunderstanding I do apologize, but I still do not intend to go back to their shop.
Regardless of free repair or refund, my faith in their abilities to perform reliable maintenance and repair is gone, and I have no desire for further interactions regardless of compensation. At this point my only goal is to state my findings and move forward with a business that more aligns with my needs and desires from an automotive repair shop.
