I've had my windows for about a month now and it has been night & day. I live in the loop near Millennium Park, so I had constant noise 24/7 as my building/existing windows are very old. I no longer have to pause what I'm watching at night to wait for whatever ruckus outside is happening to quiet down. As a bonus, I'm also having fewer issues trying to keep the temperatures regulated! They're very professional and were great to work with. Loved it! I live next to the purple line, the sound bothered me so I reached out. At first I was hesitant with the price of the windows, but then the results were amazing. Michael and the team were absolutely the best! They came back to fix the minor issue happened during installation and were the most heart warming people. Do it! You won’t regret it either!
Moved to Chicago and didn’t realize how noisy living by the train station could be. Did my research online and came across Soundproof Chicago. We noticed an immediate reduction to the amount of noise in the room where the windows were installed. I'm writing to recommend Soundproof Chicago. I live in a condo in Westtown and heard footsteps and other noises like objects falling and appliances running from the unit above mine. Mike gave a detailed bid and followed through during the course of construction. Joe and George did the actual work, they were very thorough, for example, in prep work, helped me understand what they were doing, and I'm happy with the results.
The noise diminished substantially immediately after work was done and has only gotten better as time has passed, and the caulking has hardened. Most of the footsteps and other noises from above are gone and those that I can continue to hear are infrequent and faint, so that I don't really notice the noise anymore. If this were a doctor's office asking about pain on a 1-10 scale, the noise went from 4-5+ to 0.5-. Joe and George were also easy to have in my home during the time it took for them to complete their work.

Mike and his team were excellent and we are very happy with the final product. Absolutely worth the money. They were very punctual, finished much faster than they estimated, and were very clean (they even cleaned the inside of our existing windows before installing the new ones) and attentive to detail. We just wanted to reduce street noise as we live on a busy street in downtown Chicago and were willing to accept that maybe our windows may look a little clunky with essentially two sets of windows, but they actually look cleaner and better than before. The windows also function very easily - we can still open both when we want airflow. The only small thing was that we only got final timing confirmation when we followed up via e-mail, but they were responsive when we reached out, and particularly given the supply chain issues everyone is having right now (fall/winter 2021), we were happy with the timing.

Aristotle once said: we are what we repeated do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit. I think Michael and his team live up to this quote and that’s probably why you are reading all these positive reviews and their current score averages 4.9. I can attest to the effect of noise reduction, the elegant look of the window, and Michael’s team’s professionalism. If you are like me and have no knowledge on what the fair price of a solid built window should be, you might feel the the price is on the higher end. But I went with my gut feeling and booked it, after seeing and using the final window there were able to deliver, I know it was worth every penny of my investment.

Michael and his wonderful team exceeded our expectations! Their soundproofing windows look beautiful while dramatically reducing the sounds from the trains next door and traffic. An added benefit that I’m thrilled about is it doubles as an interior storm window to keep us cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter. We did a lot of research on ways to reduce the outside noise coming through our sliding door and windows. We found several companies that offered solutions. The most impressive was CitiQuiet, but they are in New York, and we’re in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
We tried finding someone local, but the few we found kept pushing either a DIY job, which unless you’re a contractor or work in construction, this is far from a DIY project. One closer location specialized in this, but said we would have to arrange for a local contractor to do the installation, and the owner said he would walk them through it over the phone. Plus, we would have to take delivery of the heavy windows and frames. Not ideal, because we live in a condo. They also wanted us to take the measurements, and while we can certainly measure windows, it can be tricky and we needed this to be accurate. We were looking for someone to do the complete job (BTW-one bedroom window space is slightly larger than the other bedroom window space). We finally called CitiQuiet in NYC, and explained the situation and were referred to their affiliate in Chicago, Soundproof Chicago.
We explained how we wanted someone to handle the project from A-Z, and they said they absolutely could. We even wanted our windows tinted, and they also coordinated that with a company out of Orlando. We were impressed when Michael Ibarra of Soundproof Chicago said he would fly down, at his expense, to do the consultation and measurements. This is before any commitment or signed contract. Mike is awesome, super nice, very knowledgeable, and walked us through the entire process, and explained the options with no pressure or upselling. I was even wanting their 1” double glass for the balcony sliding doors, thinking it would maximize the soundproofing, but he showed me how it might not need that more expensive option, plus with our large balcony doors, the 1” glass might not be feasible. After meeting with him, we knew we had made the right choice. After providing a down payment, the windows were ordered, and after about 6 weeks, they were installed (It took a little longer due to coordinating long distance logistics and the pandemic). Mike, his father and Xavier flew down to do the install. They managed it all, making sure everything was done to specs, and all condo rules were followed. They even have a patent on their window framing system, so it’s a unique feature in doing the best job of dampening sound vibrations.
We knew the windows would help reduce outside noise, but didn’t know how much it’d help until we experienced the difference after the install was complete (they finished in a little more than a day). It’s amazing just how much outside noise is blocked. We live on the Intracoastal Waterway across from a popular restaurant, and with customers leaving late at night, and the late night cleaning crew getting started, there can be a lot of noise. Also, some boats cruising by will play their music too loud. In the morning, delivery and garbage trucks and leaf blowers start arriving, plus the restaurant has live bands outside on weekend afternoons and evenings. We now hear very little to none of that anymore. I had been using a white noise generator in my bedroom to try to drown out all the noise, now I don’t even need it. Thanks to Mike and his team for restoring our peace, and being able to keep our condo versus selling it and moving.
No matter where you live in the U.S., if you are in a noisy environment, I highly recommend contacting Soundproof Chicago. They also can make your walls and ceilings quieter too.
We were in touch with Michael and his team for several months about soundproofing our bedroom ceiling due to neighbor footfall noise. Our plans changed and we ultimately did not move forward with the soundproofing, but we were so impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of Michael and his team as we explored the process. They were prompt communicators, explained clearly how the soundproofing worked and quickly answered questions. Michael also came out to give us our quote when I was 8 months pregnant, and during the height of Chicago's COVID surge. I really appreciated how respectful he was about wearing a mask correctly and social distancing while in our home, without having to be asked -- we did not have the same experience with other contractors, and it was really appreciated. I soundproofed my bedroom ceiling late December in the hopes that I would no longer be woken up by my upstairs neighbor's impact footsteps in the middle of the night. The positive reviews here are accurate! Michael is clearly an expert, and during the estimation process, I felt very comfortable about his knowledge and that the work would be done correctly. George and Joe did the tear down and soundproofing of my ceiling. They were excellent - super respectful of my place, passionate about their work, and detail oriented. They were diligent about communicating process - either through pictures or demonstrating live, so I could see it all happening in stages. It was very impressive how clean they kept my place, esp. when it involves all that demolition and drywall! Dave finished off the ceiling and I also had him paint my bedroom - he was also very detail oriented, super quick, and quality oriented. Truly these guys are some of the best! Literally, no complaints.
Now I waited a while to do this review because I wanted to make sure I could properly assess the results of soundproofing. Especially since this is a pricey endeavor. I was told that it only gets better over time because of the green glue curing, and that is absolutely correct. My first 2 months, the impact noise was definitely more muffled but would still wake me up at night. I'll be honest - I was concerned this was not going to be a good enough solution and that I spent way too much money for a slightly better outcome. This last month - I realized the results that I was looking for - no more waking up at night. You can still hear the muffled footsteps (nothing will make the ceiling 100% soundproofed at this point), but it's not that jarring impact noise! I am very satisfied with the results, and only wish I could do the rest of my place now! Thank you Michael, George, Joe, and Dave! :)
