Excited for LIFE! Life-changing does not even come close to the reality of my experience with Ayahuasca. Words fall short to say the least, but if I could put words to my journey, they would be "Whole again", "stitched together with gold (like the Japanese Kintsugi)", "healed in ways I never thought possible". I tried not to have expectations other than staying in a beautiful location (Playa Blanca) and having a really interesting "trip", but what I got was soooo much more. Firstly, let me say that it was intimidating as hell to travel to do plant medicine with complete strangers. As an HSP, I've always had a one-on-one preference to my healing journey, so the idea that there were going to be multiple people experincing their own journey at the same time was very overwhelming to me. However, those precious souls that shared this journey with me are now my family, including the Maestros and facilitators. Every single one! I've only been home a few days now and have no idea how this experience is going to change me in my daily walk of life, but I miss them all right now, wishing we were still there! The Maestros....Oh My God!!! They are the most sacred, special people I've ever had the opportunity to be in presence with. The work they do with Ayahuasca, and us, is the thing I will hold most dear to me. Their connection with the plants are something that is ancient and sacred in ways we cannot fathom in modern society. Just being in their presence takes you into another world, but during ceremony, they transport you to another dimension of being! I am so beyond grateful for them. The facilitators are ANGELS! Seriously! During ceremony, the moved throughout the Maloca as if they were literal angels. Several of us experienced them in this way during ceremony. Outside of ceremony, they helped us so much with integrating our experiences and gave us tools to utilize when we returned home to help us integrate further. They are Maestros in their own right! The dedication and sacrifice they make to help others find themselves are beyond "service". They are what makes every day at Soltara special. I will cherish them forever! The food...seriously...THE BEST FOOD ON THE PLANET!!! I bow down to the kitchen staff for how incredible I feel after partaking of the sacred foods they prepared for us. Meals were a ceremony in and of themselves. Although the heat could be overwhelming (it's Costa Rica, after all), I really felt that it was just another way of learning to lean into discomfort and be ok with it. Every moment I spent at Soltara was a lesson along my journey. Some takeaways... 1. I realize how much I NEED community and laughter. 2. Moving through life, unhurried, at the pace of nature, is true joy and peace. 3. My body is a miracle and a part of the natural world to which we all belong. I will honor it as such going forward. 4. I am finally excited for LIFE! Not just the future, but TODAY! Every moment!

This brings such a smile to our faces to read! What an incredibly heartfelt and beautiful journey, thank you so much for sharing these kind words and potent insights. We are honored to have been able to support you and that you felt so cared for during your time with us.

It is such a joy to witness the reconnection and community that unfolds within every retreat group, as so many brave souls step into, hold, and witness each other through this journey together. Wishing you many blessings as you continue to integrate, and please know you always have a home and community here!

An unbelievable experience! I will never be the same. I did 5 night at Goddess Falls. Everything from the facilitator team, to the Maestras, to the staff was top notch! The process before as well as the integration after has been key. So incredibly grateful I chose Soltara.

I would give this place 100/5 stars if I could. Seriously, the greatest week of my life so far. The venue was absolutely magical and the service was absolutely surgical. Every step of the process from greeting to farewell has been mastered and honed to ensure that every guest has an exceptional experience. I attended this retreat with my father, and the the group that we met quickly became family. I could go on raving, but to keep it brief, if you are on the fence about whether this is for you, I would strongly encourage simply booking a call with the team. They put on absolutely no pretty and purely focused on helping us find the path that was best for us. I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world. Thank you Soltara🙏

An amazingly transformative and restorative experience. This was my second retreat with Soltara and I am still so happy that I found them and trusted them for my journeys. I felt safe and cared for from the beginning to the end. Being immersed in nature was medicine for the soul. Looking forward to another retreat in the future!

I attended a five day Ayahuasca retreat at Soltara at their Playa Blanca location in Costa Rica, and honestly, I don't have words big enough for the experience ... but I'll try. From the very first discovery call, and the preparation emails and video calls, I felt supported, informed, and genuinely cared for. By the time I arrived, I already knew I was in good hands. The property is absolutely stunning, peaceful and beautifully maintained. The maloca is sacred and powerful. Every detail feels intentional. The food, lovingly prepared in alignment with the Ayahuasca dieta, was absolutely incredible. The facilitators embody safety, professionalism, warmth, and deep integrity. I felt held the entire time ~ emotionally, spiritually, physically. During the ceremonies, the Shipibo plant medicine healers were nothing short of profound. Through their icaros and their deep ancestral wisdom, they guided the space with such intention and care. The community was magical. Eighteen strangers became deeply connected through shared vulnerability and journeys, creating a trust and unity that made the experience unforgettable. We are forever family. I HIGHLY recommend Soltara.

I genuinely didn’t want to write this review. I made multiple good-faith attempts to resolve this privately with Soltara first. I generally leave 5 stars or nothing at all (feel free to check my review history), but this situation warrants documentation. During my retreat, one participant repeatedly made very loud vocalizations throughout all four ceremonies — loud enough that they were clearly audible across the property even after ceremonies ended. This wasn’t occasional or brief. It was constant and predictable. To be clear, I have no issue with him as a person. Outside of ceremony he was kind and easy to talk to. The problem wasn’t who he is — it was the impact of his behavior during ceremony. It’s entirely possible he didn’t have control over the vocalizations while under the influence. I can’t say for certain, because I was never able to reach that depth of experience myself due to the repeated disruption. Multiple staff members acknowledged to me during the retreat that his volume was “a bit over the top,” and they spoke to him about it several times. He also publicly apologized to the group on the final day for being loud and disruptive. Afterward, Soltara told me his behavior was within acceptable limits and did not meet their threshold for intervention. That contradicts what their own staff told me in real time. If his volume was within acceptable limits, why was he spoken to repeatedly by multiple facilitators? This retreat was a significant investment — roughly $10,000 all in between program cost, flights, hotels, and time off work. The core product is a safe, contained ceremonial environment. In my case, that environment was not delivered in a usable way. To be clear: the facility is beautiful, the food is excellent, and most of the staff were kind and professional. I can see why they have such high ratings. But when a real issue arose, their handling of it — both during the retreat and afterward — fell far short of what I expected. I made every effort to resolve this privately first. I’m posting this so future guests can decide for themselves. I retained all correspondence and can share it if needed for accuracy.

Cory, we’re truly sorry that your retreat experience felt defined by this situation.

Ceremony in a group setting can be powerful, beautiful, and at times challenging. Vocal expression, such as crying, purging, or periodic moaning, is not uncommon in Ayahuasca work. That said, we take the impact on the broader group seriously.

During your retreat, our facilitation team did intervene. The guest in question was spoken to multiple times and asked to bring his process inward when his volume rose. He was receptive each time. Based on the assessment of our facilitators and Shipibo Maestros, his expressions did not reach the threshold that would require removal from the maloca. That level of escalation is reserved for situations involving clear safety concerns or ongoing disruption that cannot be regulated with facilitator guidance.

These decisions are made carefully and case-by-case in real time. Our responsibility is to balance the needs of every guest in the room while maintaining a safe ceremonial container. The majority of guests from that retreat week shared positive feedback about their experience, which we also hold alongside your concerns as part of the full picture.

We understand that for you, the experience was disruptive and disappointing. Our facilitation team supported you in processing this throughout the ceremonies and retreat. We also recognize that what feels tolerable to one guest may feel overwhelming to another. This does not invalidate your experience. We take every guests' process seriously, and in cases like this, it reflects the complexity of group ceremonial work.

We engaged with you privately at length, both during and after your retreat, including offering a live conversation with our Director of Intake & Integration to further explore your concerns, and ongoing integration support to process what came up for you. While we were not able to reach a resolution that satisfied you, we stand by the care, discernment, and professionalism of our team.

For those considering working with us: our ceremonies are held in the Shipibo tradition, in a group setting, and emotional expression can be part of the healing process. We maintain clear safety and escalation protocols, and our facilitators are trained to intervene when needed, and in an appropriate way.

Cory, we genuinely wish you well in your continued path forward, and remain open to providing the ongoing support we've offered, should that feel aligned for you.

A wonderful glamping retreat! The drive from San Jose is FAR, so make sure that this is alloted for in your travel. That is the only drawback to traversing this far though. The resort itself is clean and pristine, with a gorgeous immersion in nature.

I had little expectation when I attended this retreat even though I have had some experience in the past sitting with the medicine. The care taken to build a safe space for growth can not be over emphasized. It was key to my journey of growth. The entire experience was perfection. If I am ever called to the medicine again, I will be back here and nowhere else. Please, please, please consider this as your first choice should you be seeking this journey. It respects you, the tradition, and the medicine.

Extraordinary experience that everyone should have on their bucket list for personal transformation. The staff and the Maestros were so wonderful, the location is out of this world beautiful, the food was delicious, and the relationships I built with the other participants will last a lifetime. I couldn't recommend the experience more strongly.

Soltara offers an array of resources and support for preparation and integration, as well as throughout the ceremony. The team was incredibly informative, knowledgeable, kind and willing. This experience was life changing and affirming. I'm grateful to the medicine, the participants, the staff, and the talented facilitators that took part in my retreat. The work is not easy, but Soltara offered the highest level of support in order for that work to happen in the most graceful way possible.

Kein Spektakel. Keine Spielerei. Tiefe Arbeit, mit Respekt vor Körper, Seele und Geist. Jeden Cent wert.

Your search has ended. Soltara is a place of healing where your care and development are the staffs priority. The Shipibo Maestros share themselves completely as Mother ayahausca works with you to bring attention and healing. it is the team that make this place so special. The facility at La Playa Blanca is top notch with high end accommodations. There is a bit of climbing to the rooms from the Molaca however. The stardeck is a beautiful place for solitude or communality with your fellow travelers and the adjacent pool is refreshing as well. You have made your decision on the plant medicine, now you have the perfect place for its administration.

Soltara is a one of a kind place if you're looking to examine your life and intentions. I couldn't have asked for a more profound experience and I can't recommend this place enough. If you are feeling called to work with Aya I would definitely consider looking closer at Soltara. The entire experience was borne out of radical intention from the food, to the facilitation staff, the Shipibo healers, to the land, animals and facilities; the container that I and my fellow passengers inhabited for our journeys felt safe and supportive. I was able to be vulnerable and connect to my true self in a way that I haven't felt in literally decades. Soltara will always occupy a special place in my heart and I hope to return again when I have fully integrated my recent Playa Blanca experience and am ready to go deep again. Thank you :)

Just want to say thank you Soltara. I came to this retreat burnt out, stressed, dejected, and extremely Dysregulated. I had researched this retreat for a while and came as a solo traveler. My mind was blown by this experience from the amazing facilitators to accommodations. I have never felt so at peace and capable of “letting go” / detachment. Thank you again and I intend on returning before I ever become that way again. To anyone considering, you can go so much deeper into suffering in such an amazing place.
