Amazing trip to the Amazon
We spent four nights at the lodge and had an amazing time. From being met at the airport to being dropped off for our flight at the end everything was seamless. The lodge itself is very comfortable and the staff are all genuinely lovely. The meals are amazing and plentiful. It’s a three course meal twice a day in addition to breakfast. There’s also free tea/coffee/water on all the time and you can buy beers if you want. We had two guides with us for each of our excursions (Freddie and Mauro). We saw loads of different types of monkeys, multiple caimans, an anteater, frogs, tarantulas plus loads of other insects and birds. Mauro was incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything to us in English and answered all our questions. Each day was different and we had day time walks and evening excursions. We particularly enjoyed the day where we had a cooking class at the nearby Sani Village and then piranha fishing and up the observation tower. On the whole had an amazing time and really pleased we chose the Sinchi Wayra lodge.

We went for the 5 days trip to Sinchi Wayra. I strongly suggest to stay as long as possible, all days were unique and now I think that I would have regret any shorter version. If you like the nature and you would like to discover the tropical rainforest this place is highly recommended for you. We've seen amazing animals and plants. Our guide was a real hunter, I have no idea how he was able to point out the animals in the forest. My daughters are 17, 14 and 11 they all were really enjoyed the trip. E.g.: we've seen caiman at night actually next to our canoe...
Pros:
- you are really in the rainforest,
- many animals and plant are around, the fauna is just amazing,
- it's a real adventure,
- the food is excellent,
- our guide was just amazing,
Cons:
- 3 hours from the next town (for me it was more like pro),
- cold water only in shower (I liked it actually, but yes, it's cold),
- the days start around 5:30 AM as the sun comes up around 6:00 AM.

Dear Ferenc, thank you a lot for your positive words and your honest feedback on things we can improve. While we are super glad that you and your family could enjoy the tour with us so much, I'd like to provide some additional background on the Cons you mentioned, especially to other potential guests:
- 3 hours from the next town: Getting to our lodge takes some time, but in return you'll get one of the purest wildlife experiences.
- Cold water only in shower: We are working on this and hopefully can provide warm water to our guests by next year
- The days start around 5:30 AM: The earlier we start our activity, the better the density of wildlife we can see. On the other hand the sunset is around 6 PM and after a day full of activity most guests go to bed early and get enough sleep
We wish you all the best and hope we could create lifelong memories for your family.

A perfect Jungle adventure
I want to thank the staff at Sinchi Wayra for a wonderful five day adventure at Yusani National Park. The eco-lodge is only an hour or two canoe ride to see the diverse range of birds, monkeys and flora that is unique to this area. My highlight was seeing the Pygmy marmosets closeup, seeing the squirrel and howling monkeys, finding the snake and caiman right on the river bank, the amazing view of the toucan and macaws at the tree top tower, and walk through the jungle to find spiders, frogs and insects. Being in a small group made it so much easier to take photos and take time to observe the wildlife.

we had the most amazing time at the sinchi wayra lodge. the family that run the lodge gave us the warmest of welcomes, and took care of us so well. our guide, mauro, was incredibly knowledgeable and shared his insights into the jungle, and his culture, with us in a fascinating way, and he went out of his way to bring the jungle to life for us ... this was an unforgetable experience for all of us, and especially our 14 & 16 year old sons who were fascinated by the flora and fauna. the lodge (with only 4 bedrooms) is comfortable (but maybe not as 'luxurious' as some of the others on the river): there's no hot water, and electricity is only on a certain times but that only adds to the experience of being deep in the jungle. the food was also delicious and the chef took care of all of our dietary requirements. we cannot recommend the sincha wayra logde highly enough. thank you to jessica and all the team for making us feel sooooo welcome.

Sinchi Wayra offers the best experience in this part of the Amazon. Our guide Eddy is an excellent guide who knows the surroundings very well, because he grew up in the area, and his father is a remarkable captain and navigator of the Amazon river Napo. Eddy is incredible at spotting all sorts of wildlife, even those at a great distance.
The lodge is still new and when we visited we were the only (!) couple and it felt like a private tour.
Note: keep your expectations in check; you will live in the Amazon forest, and you will encounter small bugs in your room. This is normal.

Mindez a dzsungel közepén. Örülünk, hogy őket választottuk. Aki hiteles Amazon-élményre vágyik, annak nagyon ajánlom a Sinchi Wayrát.

Unforgettable 4 days 3 nights at Sinchi Wayra Yasuni Lodge
I and my wife spent 4 day 3 night stay at Sinchi Wayra Yasuni Lodge end of May. It was a great experience. It is run by a local family who are very friendly and kind. We met one of the family member at the airport in Coca, then they took us by taxi to the river, where we boarded a motorized canoe, and then it was a 2-hour journey to the accommodation. Our guide, Edi, spoke fluent English which was helpful as we don't speak Spanish. The accommodation is comfortable, however, there was some problem with the water, ( because there was no running water when we arrived), but it was resolved by the afternoon of the next day. Everyone was very hospitable, our tour guide and his mother, Margarita, know the local flora and fauna extremely well. We had wonderful hikes in the jungle where we took lots of photos. They served very delicious food and drinks, even a 4-star hotel would be praised. All this in the middle of the jungle. We are glad that we chose them. For those who want an authentic Amazon experience, I highly recommend Sinchi Wayra. 4 napos, 3 éjszakás tartózkodásunk a Sinchi Wayra Yasuni Lodge-ban nagy élmény volt. What an amazing experience this lovely family has created in the heart of the Amazon. We were excited for our trip but weren't quite sure what to expect, and everything truly exceeded our expectations. Being greeted with a cold beverage every time we returned to the lodge, our guide Eddy's expansive animal knowledge (especially birds), the delicious meals prepared for us by Chef Marco, and the beautiful service and hospitality provided by the whole family. Everything was very organized and seamless, from our airport pickup to our airport dropoff. There was only one other couple there during our stay and they actually left a day before us so we essentially had a "private" river tour on the last day (the lodge is currently designed for small groups so it feels very peaceful and intimate). The lodge is definitely quite "rustic" but that is what we were looking for...it is VERY clean and the rooms seem fairly well sealed in terms of (in my previous jungle experience) the insects that tend to find their way inside. Mosquito nets are provided over the beds as well, and our rooms were refreshed every day. And best of all, we had the good fortune to see a giant anaconda on our very first day (though this is not very common; we got so lucky!). There were so many other wonderful animal sightings from monkeys to frogs to pink dolphins to many different kinds of birds. If you are looking for a peaceful yet adventurous jungle experience, look no further than Sinchi Wayra!

If I could give 6++ stars I would. Our 5 days at Sinchi Wayra with this family felt authentic, relaxing, extremely hospitable, exciting and fun all mixed together. What made it so special was the genuine love for and knowledge of the Amazon, and all its flora and fauna that every member of the family has (there’s nine kids and we were privileged to also meet several of the grandchildren).
Every day was a learning experience, either from the river, from above the canopy, through walks in the rainforest or just sitting around talking at the dinner table. We learned about the Kiche culture, medicinal plants and jungle grown foods, and about every day life in the Amazon, its beauty and challenges.
Eddie (one of the sons) was our full time guide, often accompanied by Margarita (mami). They could spot, name, replicate the songs and sounds of any bird or monkey, and we saw many varieties as well as gray dolphin and a piranha or two. Eddy also helped capture great photos and videos of wildlife.
We loved visiting the Sani Isla community and to meet the beautiful women of Sani Warma, who gave us a cooking lesson, walked us through the community and farm and shared song and dance with us.
The accommodations were simple but comfortable, cold showers were not a problem given the warmth of the tropics. The food was beautifully prepared and I was very grateful that they took into account my food allergy and sensitivities. The place is really clean and you will fall asleep to the sounds of birds and howler monkeys.
The sights in the Amazon will be the same. I believe the difference is in how the experiences are shared. Don’t hesitate to experience them with Sinchi Wayra and this beautiful family.

Look no further! Staying at Sinchi Wayra Amazonian Lodge is an experience you will cherish forever.
Our stay at Sinchi Wayra Amazon Lodge was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived until the day of our departure, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of genuine hospitality, cultural immersion, and breathtaking natural beauty. If we could have stayed longer we would have.
What truly sets Sinchi Wayra apart is their commitment to conservation and community engagement. The people behind the lodge are deeply passionate about preserving the Amazonian ecosystem and culture. Staying with the locals not only provided us with unique insights into their way of life but also allowed us to contribute to the preservation of their heritage. The family's extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna made every excursion an educational and awe-inspiring experience.
We were particularly impressed by our main English speaking guide, Eddy. His expertise in navigating the rainforest and spotting animals and insects was truly remarkable, enhancing our exploration of the wilderness. He is a true Bird Watcher.
We had the opportunity to encounter wildlife that we never imagined we would see in the wild. Eddy and our guides helped us spot several species of monkeys, birds including parrots and toucans (and a ton of other cool species we never heard of), reptiles including Caimen and lizard, and even a sloth!
Although we regret not learning Spanish beforehand, it did not detract from our overall experience. The variety of activities offered ensured that we never grew tired of our surroundings. Whether it was navigating the waterways in canoes, looking out over the treetops of the jungle, stopping to enjoy herds of monkeys passing overhead, or trying our hand at piranha fishing, there was always something new and exciting to discover. The piranha we caught were served for dinner as well, which added some excitement and entertainment. They were tasty!
The woman’s community, Sani Warmi, was very educational and is where we were able to learn and ask a lot of questions about the Sani Isla culture and how the community is preserving their heritage. We were also afforded the opportunity to cook a traditional meal and eat some COOKED beetle larvae (we couldn’t handle eating them while alive).
While the accommodations may lack luxuries such as a sauna or hot water, the cold showers were truly something refreshing and something to look forward to, especially in the tropical climate. The intimate setting of the lodge, with a strict no-shoes policy indoors, added to the sense of authenticity and cleanliness maintained by the welcoming family. The family that runs this lodge also maintains a farm on the other side of the river, which we were able to visit and look for more wildlife. It was very interesting to see the cohabitation of different fruits, coffee beans and corn in the same area.
Despite being nestled deep in the rainforest, we were pleasantly surprised to find power and WiFi available around meal times, allowing us to stay connected when necessary. Moreover, there was free time in the hottest part/middle of the day (2-3 hours) between the morning activity and afternoon activity, so that we could recharge before embarking on our next adventure.
Marco, the chef, made delicious three course meals for every meal.
We appreciated the opportunity to borrow boots for our excursions, eliminating the need to pack bulky footwear. This thoughtful gesture exemplifies the attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction that defines Sinchi Wayra Amazon Lodge.
In conclusion, we wholeheartedly recommend the full 5-day tour offered by Sinchi Wayra. It offers a truly immersive and unforgettable experience in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. If longer tours were available, we would have eagerly extended our stay. For anyone seeking an authentic and enriching adventure, look no further than Sinchi Wayra Amazon Lodge.
Also, there are sting rays in those rivers!
Thanks again for everything!

We had so many memorable experiences at eco-lodge Sinchi Wayra on a 5 day/4 night just over a week ago. I cannot say enough to praise our main guide Eddie, whose bird and wildlife knowledge is exceptional. Every single day, he found different species of birds, mammals, amphibians, insects, and reptiles that we never would have spotted on our own, based on his lifelong experience of growing up in the rainforest and recognizing even the slightest sound or movement. The diversity in the areas we visited was incredible. We saw 7 different species of monkeys, countless birds, river otters, both types of river dolphins (pink and grey), and so many other interesting animals. The rainforest in the area is beautiful, with many big trees and so many different plants. Eddie was extremely patient with our sometimes slow progress, and very good at reading when we had seen enough in a given area.
I also want to acknowledge the hospitality of the whole family and staff at the lodge, who went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. Marco is an incredibly talented chef and prepared delicious and fresh food for every meal - we never ate or drank the same thing twice. He also came along on the piranha fishing expedition and unexpectedly served a delicious plate of warm food right on the canoe! The presentation of all the food was gorgeous, and the portion sizes were perfect. Edwin, the boat captain, made the motorized canoe rides smooth and comfortable. The kitchen staff prepared a couple of traditional natural medicines for my daughter who had a head cold during our visit, and it really did help her in addition to giving us some great laughs.
The lodge itself is beautifully made out of local wood. It is rustic but has the key comforts - very comfortable beds, individual bathrooms, bug screens on the windows, and mosquito netting.
Another unique experience that we loved was visiting the women's center at the Sani Community. They taught us to cook some traditional foods as well as feeding us some food they had prepared. When you go, I encourage you to be adventurous and eat everything, as you will be pleasantly surprised. They invited us into their community soccer game which was also a blast to watch.
I was sorry to leave and a week later we are still raving about all our incredible experiences there. Visiting this special family run eco-lodge will help support a sustainable business and help the Sani community in their efforts to preserve an integrated way of life. I will try to visit again!

We had a fantastic time during our 5-day stay at Sinchi Wayra Yasuni Lodge in early March 2024. The lodge is an approximately 2.5h canoe ride from Coca and right on the bank of the Napo River and part of the Yasuni community. We chose it because it was cheaper than other lodges along the Napo River and we are really glad we did. This a family run lodge so you get a fantastic personal experience. Our guide was Eddie, our very skilled canoe captain his dad and his siblings did an excellent job in their various roles around the lodge. Eddie who speaks great English was very knowledgeable and excellent at pointing us to a lot of animals and insects. His mum, Margarita was also with us on two of the days and taught us about local plants. We felt really well looked after during our entire stay and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them!

Amazing Amazon experience. Cheaper than other nearby lodges as it is a small family-run place, but this means groups are smaller and you get a more exclusive experience! Eddie our guide was superb, he has a great knowledge of all the wildlife and speaks perfect English. We also learnt some Kichwa from him. His mother Margerita taught us all about the local plants, including their medical properties. Eddie's father Edwin is the excellent captain of the motorized canoe. His brothers and sisters were also lovely and provided excellent service at the lodge.
