Yu was an amazing host! We had such a nice time. He was very friendly and responsive and even drove us to and from the train station and made us feel taken care of every step of the way. Couldn’t have been a better vacation and we are excited for the time we are able to come back. Everything was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Couldn’t recommend this place more. Also get the bread!! Just be sure to order in advance! It is the best bread ever.

Thank you for your thoughtful stay.I’m glad the time here felt comfortable and easy for you.And I’m happy you enjoyed the bread — Harumino Pan, something we prepare with care, with a small unexpected element inside. This place changes with the seasons, so it would be a pleasure to welcome you again sometime.
We had such a wonderful stay at Yu’s place. It’s perfect for couples looking for a peaceful and private getaway. The house is surrounded by beautiful countryside near Lake Biwa, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. We didn’t go into Kyoto this time because the ski resort was very close, which made it super convenient for our trip. After a long day in the snow, coming back to soak in the bathtub was honestly one of the best parts — it was so relaxing and exactly what we needed. The space was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully prepared. Yu was kind and responsive throughout our stay.Highly recommended, especially for couples or anyone wanting a quiet escape close to nature and the ski area. We would definitely love to come back again.
We had a lovely time in Yu's little house. It's a beautiful, restful place, with a real Showa vibe. Only about a 5 minute drive to the Biwako Hakodate Ski Park, which was our main activity in the area. Our only regret was that we only booked for three nights. I think, if it had been possible, we might have rearranged our trip to stay longer.I will say, I think it would be hard to get around without a car. Maybe bikes in the summer. Also, if you come in the winter, prepare yourself to be a bit chilly. Not all of the spaces are heated (tho don't worry, the bedroom is heated). But honestly that just added to the charm for us.I really hope we get to come back again someday.
We had a truly wonderful stay at Yu’s beautiful house by Lake Biwa. The place is calm, peaceful, and full of charm, with so much care put into every detail and the use of high-quality, natural materials. The bicycles provided were such a lovely touch and made it easy to explore the area. Yu is an outstanding host – he kindly picked us up, made everything smooth and comfortable, and at the same time was very respectful and discreet, which gave us a lot of space and tranquility. We felt completely at ease and could really relax. We would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for quiet, beauty, and a genuine experience by Lake Biwa. Also: the baked good we can only recommend. Thank you so much, Yu – it was 5/5 stars in every way! Marie & Jo
Yu is a respectful and polite host, and even asked us if we needed a ride to the train station. The surroundings are beautiful and quiet. During late spring you can see multiple full rice fields and hear frogs at night. Extremely peaceful. I recommend renting a car for the area in order to explore more. Yu recommends great locations. This is a traditional style home with modern amenities. Highly recommend for a rural side vacation.Yu went above and beyond to help us get comfortable and offered suggestions. Highly suggest this location if you're one to get away from the busy city life.
We had a wonderful stay at this traditional Japanese home in the peaceful countryside near Lake Biwa. The house itself was full of charm and character — a perfect place to unwind and experience rural Japan. Our host, Yu, was exceptional. He was always available and very responsive, offering to give us rides when needed and helping us make the most of our trip. His kindness and hospitality made us feel truly welcome. Communication in English was smooth, and we appreciated his thoughtful suggestions. If you're looking to escape the city and enjoy the beauty and calm of nature while staying in an authentic Japanese setting, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended!
