I called Jason at Secure-a-com for his insight & dogged approach to investing complicated issues. He quickly found the problem & took charge of the situation. His knowledge & Telecommunications experience has helped me through the government bureaucracy nightmare. Job well done mate. Thank you. Don.
I felt I needed to put an honest review here because I called them based on their google review score.
I called for a quote, instead ordered a consultation . When he came over, his first solution was to put excessive conduit everywhere, When I pushed back and asked if he could feed through the cavities, he suggested I go wireless. When he left, I had the feeling that my preferred solutions were too difficult.
The consultation was $250 and I wasn't even given a proper quote at the end of it, only that his day rate was $1000, I would need to add materials and he could try a few things and see what worked.
The disappointing thing for me is when I called a different cabler, they were able to reassure me that my original solutions were possible and charged a much fairer rate.
I cannot speak to his experience in other NBN faults, but if it is a cabler you need, be cautious and do your research.

Hi Phil,
I’m disappointed to read this review, as it leaves out significant context regarding our 1-hour consultation on March 2nd. I pride myself on transparency, deep technical expertise, and providing fully compliant solutions, so I feel it’s important to clarify the facts of my visit for anyone reading this.
1. The Consultation Fee:
When you booked this appointment, the calendar invitation and notes clearly outlined that this was a 1-hour on-site feasibility inspection and advisory service, with a set call-out fee of $250. You were fully aware this was a paid consultation to assess your options before any work began.
2. The Wall Cavity Issue & NBN Compliance:
You wanted your new NBN FTTP fibre cable run from the downstairs kitchen into an upstairs bedroom, and asked me to simply pull it directly up through the internal brick cavity. I explained in detail why this is highly risky for a fragile fibre optic cable (which is essentially a glass tube). Unlike standard copper Cat6 cable, dragging unprotected fibre past sharp mortar slag and brick ties inside a blind, two-story wall cavity can easily snag, damage, or snap the cable.
Furthermore, NBN standards mandate that the internal pathway from the external connection device to the indoor equipment location must utilize an installed conduit with a drawstring. Specifically, NBN guidelines require a nominal P20 white PVC-U telecommunications conduit. Dropping an unprotected bare fibre cable down a wall cavity directly violates these installation requirements.
3. The Options Provided:
I spent the hour discussing this with both you and your mother, offering five distinct solutions to get the connection to your bedroom:
Option 1 (Your Preference - Full Day Attempt): I offered to book a full day-rate to try every method possible to get the cable through the cavity as you requested (trying flexible conduit, rigid conduit, or a bare drop). I explained the severe physical limitations here: the sharp pitch of the roof means a human cannot physically fit into the extreme edge of the ceiling space. We would have to take off roof tiles, and likely need to set up a ladder on your neighbor's property just to access the drop point. Even then, I could not guarantee the glass fibre wouldn't get damaged or stuck on the brick ties.
Option 2 (Internal Ceiling Route): Running an external, color-matched conduit discreetly up the gutter line, taking off tiles to get into the eaves, and running the cable safely inside the ceiling space before dropping it down into your bedroom.
Option 3 (External Under-Eaves Conduit): Running the conduit up to the eaves, but instead of going inside the roof, running it neatly underneath the eaves externally using standard conduit.
Option 4 (External Under-Eaves Ducting): The same external route as Option 3, but using square ducting instead of round conduit for a different aesthetic finish.
Option 5 (Wireless/Mesh): Since you were strictly against any external piping, I suggested setting up a high-quality wireless mesh system to bridge the connection from the kitchen to your bedroom, bypassing the need for complex and risky cable runs entirely.
4. The "Missing" Quote:
I did not provide a final written quote on the spot because, after giving you these five options, you were unable to decide which route you wanted to take. I specifically advised you to take your time, discuss it with your mother, and call me the next day with your decision so I could write up an accurate quote for the specific method you chose. You never called back.
Regarding the other cabler who quoted a cheaper rate over the phone: I strongly urge caution. You hired us for our expertise, and part of that is telling the truth about what can be safely done to NBN standards. Many operators will promise the world without stepping foot on site to see the physical limitations. If an unseen contractor promises to easily pull unprotected fibre through that blind cavity, be careful what you wish for.

Outstanding professionalism and customer service from a company and its staff who value customers and professional integrity.
Rather than charging me for a service I had been told by the NBN I was responsible for, Jason at Secure A Com corrected the poor information I had been provided and took time to coach me through how discuss the issue with the NBN, how to escalate the issue flag the issue to both the NBN and TIO should I need to in-order to solve the problem I was facing without costs I should not be liable for.
When I enquired with other companies, offering the same services as Secure A Com, they were very quick to offer expensive installation options that I technically should not have needed.
I am so impressed with Jason and Secure A Com, they are clearly an organisation who value ethics and level of integrity that you don’t often see these days.
Thank you so much for your help and I certainly will be recommending your companies services to anyone when they are looking for networking and security services

We were really impressed with Jason from Secure A COM!

Great support getting internet working
I moved into a home with no visible internet plug. SecureACom assisted in upgrading an older outlet into a modern plug that could fit a standard cable so I would have working internet without connection issues. Very helpful support, very professional work, and solved the problem quickly and kindly.

Had problems with my Telstra modem for ages. Telstra were no help at all. They said the modem was fine, but we couldn’t get internet. Jason came out and identified the issue. Telstra finally acknowledged the fault & is sending a replacement modem & also refunding Jason’s fee. I can’t thank Jason enough for his excellent technical skill. I would certainly recommend him.
My takeaway from this experience is don’t trust Telstra, just call Jason. He will sort it!!!

Thanks heaps for this awesome review Eddie. 👍
Jason identified an issue we'd had for some time on our network and hadn't been able to resolve. He also fixed up some other issues we had. He did this in a professional and friendly manner. Would definitely recommend.

Hey Marty! Thanks heaps for this excellent review. Glad I could get you sorted. Jason 👍
We have had a wonderful experience with secure a com. We have just moved to the area and had nothing but trouble getting our internet sorted. Between our internet company and the nbn we have been fighting to get this sorted for nearly two weeks, with multiple phone calls and nbn technicians out to our home. So glad we found Jason. He was committed to finding the root cause rather than passing the blame. He explained the situation and advised on what we should do, going over and beyond what was asked of him.
We can’t thank you again!!

Careful pre-paying if you might need to cancel
Just to preface this one star review, it's not to do with the quality of work, which I have heard is excellent, this is to do with the experience I have had pre-paying for a lead in to be done, and then having to cancel it (as the NBN civil team came and offered to do the work for free after I had booked my work in with Jason)
After the NBN civil team had come and told me they'd be able to perform the work, I attempted to contact Jason via both email and their online ticketing system (which I used to book the job and pay for it initially) with no luck, Jason actually contacted me by phone the night before the date we'd set to postpone due to the rain that was expected the next day (which is fine, digging in the rain is no fun)
I informed Jason I'd need to cancel the job, and offered to pay a cancellation fee, as I'd done in my email and ticket, I had to wait more than 2 months to get a refund and was charged $380 for the cancellation, I feel this is excessive, especially as Jason didn't have to reshuffle other jobs as he would have had to have done had I not cancelled.
I did mention all of this in my last email to Jason when he'd refunded me (again, after more than 2 months), but there was no response, so I thought I'd leave this review so prospective clients don't get stuck with $1400 out of their bank account for a long period if they get into a similar situation in future.
