Great spot
We found the place not suitable for our 6yr old. There was lack of fairness, insufficient instructor attention, favoritism for making money over the wellbeing of the child. There seemed to be over 50 students at least with a very limited number of instructors, felt like a free-for-all place. After paying the fees and buying the uniform ($250), my son was not allowed back after the 3rd class because the owner literally stated to me that there was an angry father who my son punched his, and the father is a long-term client of their's with 3 enrolled kids, who said he will not come back if my son remains in class. After explaining to the owner how ridiculous this is, he said how about my son leaves now and comes back in a couple of months to satisfy the father and also teach my son not to do that again! So expect favoritism, lack of structured disciplinary processes, unjust punishment, lack of professionalism and lack of maturity when handling issues. Unless your young one has full self-control and discipline you might lose your money if a "favorite client" complains.
Joined 2 months ago, Great atmosphere, instructors do a great job at demonstrating technique, always leave a training session with a feeling of accomplishment.
My son joined the u13 class a month prior to myself and he’s leaned a great deal in such a short time. He’s grown in confidence and also humility. Truly a life altering sport, Seaway Academy does a tremendous job I believe in all aspects of the Art of BJJ.
My father and I have done a month at the seaway academy and took the summer off. Due to work and me breaking my arm doing something else. Steve was great to deal with for starting and stopping payments no problem.
The people in the class vary in age and ability and I meet someone new every time we go.
Steve and Dean (the teachers) have been nothing but the best. The time we have spent there I will remember for ever
Great people out There welcomed me like if I was a longtime member. Coach has great values and students are humble ans they show great respect and attitude. If youre in Cornwall its THE shcool to go to. Id like to thank Everyone There & if I ever come to Cornwall again Ill sûre go back to seaway . IT Was a great expérience for me and il apreciated training there
Went there once, and the only thing i can say was I was very disappointed in the class, i tried both of the classes and at the end of the night i didn't learned anything useful
Another top tier jiu-jitsu academy nestled within small town Ontario.
I am from Northern Ontario and on a work trip. I was thrilled to have found out that that a jiu-jitsu gym was so close. Upon arrival I was immediately welcomed into the family, which put my anxieties to rest.
The gym is located inside a beautiful building. The mats are clean and the air is fresh.
Each of the members I worked with were exceptional and welcoming.
After a quick friendly introduction, warm-ups started. Followed by drilling and random rolls at the end. It's amazing how much Coach Stephen can get across in such a short time. Amazing instructor.
If you have the chance, you must check this place out.
My son joined Seaway when he was 7 and almost immediately gained the confidence, discipline and fitness he needed to excellent in all aspects of his life. I consider Jiu Jitsu to be a vital part of his education and there's no better place than Seaway Academy to get it.
If you're looking to do BJJ or Muay Thai, there is simply no better place in Cornwall than Seaway Academy. The instructors are excellent and the classes are great for beginners and advanced practitioners. If you want to become a better version of yourself, look no further than this gym.
There is no other place I would rather have my children go. My son and daughter have been attending Seaway Academy for 5 plus years. It is a great friendly environment and the level of respect and discipline are next to none. I highly recommend this for everyone, my wife and I have also enrolled and Seaway Academy is for our whole family!!
