Our morning sailing adventure with Captain Gus was absolutely unforgettable. He made the entire experience feel both fun and effortless, guiding with expertise. Our family felt safe, welcomed, and completely taken care of from the moment we stepped onboard. We learned new things, soaked in the views, and shared moments we’ll be talking about for years. Highly recommend Captain Gus and Sea Monkey Adventures for anyone looking to create a truly special family memory on the water. We can’t wait for our next trip!
Memorable Family Exoerience!
This was our first time doing a private sailing experience, which we had seen recommended by other families. It's always nice to work with a company that is specifically welcoming of families with kids. Captain Gus was extremely patient with our grandkids who asked non-stop questions throughout the cruise. At one point we were laughing because our shark-obsessed grandson was challenging him with Shark knowledge and Captain Gus said "I think I'm holding my own"!!!! Our grandaughter said "this was better than I expected"! Very relaxing sail with a very knowledgeable and experienced captain.
Wonderful sail with Capt. Gus
We had a wonderful time with Capt. Gus. Were able to enjoy lots of the harbor under sail - so relaxing and peaceful! Also had great discussions about the sights and history, and learned a bunch about sailing. The boat was very comfortable and well equipped and we appreciated blankets and snacks. Super fun day for my 19 year old twins, husband and I - highly recommend!
Highly recommend. This was my second visit doing the small group sunset sail. We enjoyed it so much the first time we did another. Captain was awesome and added a lot of value to the trip with facts on points of interest. Sea Monkey makes it easy to enjoy the adventure and the onboard drinks and snacks were a nice treat.
Highly recommend! We took the small group sunset sail. Booking was easy and Monkey adventures kept us informed with all the information we needed to plan, park, and where to meet. Captain was prompt and made us feel welcome--giving us a run down of safety and how to enjoy our trip with the onboard amenities. Through the trip, he added value to the experience by drawing out attention to points of interest, with details about each one, and got our buy-in on the route we took. On our return, we got a great view of the Coronado bridge and the sun setting.

We’re super happy to hear you got a good view of the Coronado bridge, it’s one of our favorite landmarks here in San Diego.
Thank you for sailing with us!

Friends and I did a sunset sail on a Friday evening, what a great way to end the week! All of Sea Monkey Adventure staff and captain are incredible friendly and helpful. You'll see beautiful views of the San Diego skyline and Coronado Bridge, while cruising all around the bay. I highly recommend this charter!
I had a wonderful time on my sunset sail with Sea Monkey.
Let's start with their communication which was great. They sent a text and an email reminder a couple of days before the sail. They had clear directions and recommendations on what to bring.
The parking is a little funky - the lot you go into has a weird ticket box thing that has a glare and was hard to read, but once in it was easy to park and very close to the meeting spot.
There were only 6 of us on the boat, I think more than that would be crowded. On the boat they had snacks and water and blankets for us. We all sat on the bow on cushions that are built in. We started by going straight towards downtown, then went past all the usual suspects - Star of India, Midway, Unconditional Surrender statue, The Shell - then we went under the bridge and over to Coronado and into an inlet just outside the Hotel Del. It was so pretty and peaceful. We didn't get to put the sail up, but I didn't care, I was just happy to be on the water. On the way back we went back by The Shell and Top Gun Maverick was playing so we watched for a couple minutes.
If you're looking for a relaxing and enjoyable evening out, this is a great option!
My recent sail with Sea Monkey Adventures was beautiful. It was a small group of us on a Friday afternoon; the perfect way to unwind after a long week. The captain was not only kind and hospitable; but knowledgeable about the San Diego bay and surrounding area. I'd surely book with them again for a special occasion!
We had the best time on this sail! While the boat can hold up to 12, we opted for a more intimate group of six, which made the whole experience feel extra special. The captain was friendly and knowledgeable—he shared some interesting facts along the way, just the right amount to keep it engaging without being too much. The boat itself was spotless, the weather was absolutely perfect, and the vibe couldn’t have been better. A surprise highlight was stopping at The Shell and catching a bit of a movie toward the end—such a fun and unexpected touch. Couldn’t have asked for a better day. Would 100% book again!
Perfect Friday afternoon sailing with Sea Monkey Adventures! Our captain was so nice and the views and vibes were unmatched. Definitely a great activity to do in San Diego!
