Gloria is an amazing tutor. She gave me useful tips and tricks that I used on my ACT and will be able to apply to my AP test as well. After the first session, she was able to tailor our later sessions to my weak points, grammar being the main one. Gloria worked with me one-on-one to improve my test taking skills and my overall knowledge for the test. She retaught me topics I had forgotten, helped my learn new new topics in math, and corrected my misunderstanding in certain areas. All of the study sessions, work, and feedback she provided were incredibly helpful. I was able to raise my score from an unofficial 27 to a 32 on an official ACT test. Gloria was amazing, and she really helped me through the entire process of the SAT. I started at a 1450, and after working with Gloria I ended up with a 1580. She communicated well and in a way that was easily understandable, and the tutoring was very personalized- we consistently targeted different areas of the test according to where I performed weakly in the prior practice test, and it was very beneficial. She also helped me by working with me on my mindset, and the way I approached the test, which made a major difference in my performance and had carried into other parts of my life. She provided me with good knowledge of the pacing of the test, individual ideas to keep in mind (some that saved me the day of the actual test), full reteaching of concepts I had forgotten, and overall good SAT knowledge and tips. Gloria was great. She was focused and helpful with my daughter. She knows how the test is structured and was able to fill in the knowledge gaps that my daughter had in a couple of areas (mostly math). She gave her practice tests to monitor progress and my daughter felt pretty confident going into the test. Her pre evaluation was about a 28, and she ended up getting a 33 on the ACT, which we were very happy with. I'm confident that Gloria was very responsible for helping her achieve that score boost.
Gloria is very skilled at what she does and definitely one of the most qualified tutors I've had! She helped me with both my SAT and ACT tests. She really cares about her students and works to improve areas where one is struggling in. She constructs the lessons around areas where she thinks you are struggling in or areas you personally want to work on. When I first heard I was going to have an online tutor, I didn't anticipate how efficient the lessons would still be. I figured because it was online on Skype we would eventually run into problems, especially the math portion, but the lessons were just as efficient and effective as being tutored in person. She really does a good job of preparing you for either the SAT or ACT while also teaching you different strategies on how to approach the SAT tests and the ACT tests. Gloria helped me a lot with improving my SAT score through teaching me various techniques and methods to answer questions. She taught me many test taking strategies and explained topics thoroughly. She especially helped me to break any bad habits and target my personal test taking issues. Over a period of two months, my score rose from 1350 to a 1500 on the December SAT.
When I contacted Gloria for help with the SAT, I had very little SAT experience and only a month and a half to prepare for the test. At the time, anyone would say that my ambition was both admirable and foolhardy, but Gloria believed in me and did everything in her ability to achieve my goals. During that month and a half, I worked intensively with her on an almost daily basis, and I invested over a hundred hours of practice. Slowly but surely, my original practice SAT test score of 1210 steadily rose, and I scored a 1420 on the official exam, an incredible increase of 210 points. UPDATE: I'm really happy to announce that I broke the 1500 barrier and got a 1530 on the August SAT test. She prepared me so well that my official score came out similar to my practice score. Also, the August 2019 SAT had one of the worst curves in SAT history, but my score was consistent thanks to her advice and abilities. Overall, my score improved more than 300 points from my starting score. I definitely can't thank her enough for the time and effort she spent to get me where I am.
