One of my favorite places to acquire seeds! They're responsive, high quality, and their shipping time is insanely quick! I've never had any issues with ordering from them and highly recommend getting your seeds from here directly :)

I love SDSC! Their customer service is excellent! I had an order returned by the USPS, (my fault) and SDSC got another order out immediately. Thank You! Very fertile seeds!

I was happy to find hot weather hollyhocks but I think 5 dollars to mail a seed packet is excessive. However, they explained in their response and I totally understand now.

We wish there was a cheaper way to send seeds but because customers require a tracking number to track the shipment, that is the least expensive option for shipping we have available to us. I hope you understand as a small business we cannot offer the shipping rate like that of Amazon although we are constantly working to offer the best seeds at the least expensive rate possible while maintaining a sustainable company.

You sold me pokeweed!! These seeds have the worst germination rate. I also got pokeweed seeds instead of milkweed. I’m baffled by these good reviews.

I came here from a ad you guys had on Instagram about your garlic. How much better your garlic is and you have the superior product, etc. You don’t have anything in stock to sell me right now, I looked for every variety.
Reply from San Diego Seed Company 2026.03.31
Hi there! We do not have ads on instagram, so I am not sure that was us. However, we sell garlic only when it is seasonally appropriate for Zones 9/10 and that is for planting in the fall. You can find our garlic for sale during that time and in the weeks leading up to that we take pre-orders to reserve garlic for customers as it sells very quickly. Hope that helps!

These guys are the primary source of seeds for stuff I don't provision from my own harvest. So, think Arugula, Carrot, Beet, Chard--photos below. I use SDSC for all of these, which are currently in my winter/spring garden. I had to also dip back in this year and get Fava (photo below) from them, to replenish what I had failed to carry over. What is worth noting is Garlic, which I tried for the first time this year, based on their recommendation that came through the Garlic email blast they sent prior to last Fall. I bought 2 types to try as a novice: Sicilian and Inchelium Red. I bought a pack of each, which came as 2 large heads per pack. They are organic (which much of their seed product is, the only stuff I will grow with), and disease-free heads. I planted 34 total cloves, and my success rate was 34 grew--100%! Photos below. Now waiting for harvest that is coming in a few months. I LOVE small business and I support it, folks like SDSC. Buy their seeds--they have a cool commitment to organic stuff, and they respond to questions, making them great to work with. Keep up the great work, everyone.

Great Quality Seed I love their seeds and their customer service is top notch. I’m glad they are nearby where I live; our climates are similar which means I get high germination rate.

Brijette offers a wealth of information both through her courses and online. I learned SO MUCH when I took her Backyard Gardener’s Crash course and cannot recommended it (and anything she offers) highly enough.

I took the crash course in gardening on the 8th of February 2026 with Brijette. It was a FANTASTIC class, that gave me so many resources, so much information on each step to start gardening, and Brijette really went above and beyond to answer all of our questions. I loved how passionate, knowledgeable and sweet she is. You can really tell she wants us all to succeed. I can highly recommend anyone who wants to learn more about growing flowers or veggies to go to this class. We also got some amazing treats such as seed starting soil, seed packets, a calendar and more.

I just attended Brijette’s Backyard Gardeners Crash Course and went away with tons of information relevant to gardening right here in San Diego. Brijette is filled with energy and passion for gardening! She tailors the class to what we want to know while ensuring she covers all the relevant information she knows we need. Brijette moves the class right along, no dead spots, and supplements what she shares with handouts that provide QR codes to very specific information in bite sized pieces. WOW, what a wealth of knowledge I now have at my finger tips that I can access as the need arises. I even walked away with seeds, seed starting mix and more! Thank you so much Brijette!

Terrible shipping experience. We live two hours away, but apparently USPS sent seeds across country and back. After paying for two day shipping, it is five days later and tracking shows seeds were dropped off in New York this morning. Employee with San Diego Seed Company was apologetic but really had no idea what happened. Cancelled the order.
Reply from San Diego Seed Company 2026.01.30
John, as we discussed on the phone and over email we are very sorry this happened and your order was immediately refunded. Unfortunately, there was an issue with USPS and the way they handled the package, it should have never showed up in NY as we both confirmed the shipping address was correct. The postal carrier expressed concerns over shipping issues from the winter storm outages across the United states and the we tried to intercept the package from USPS but could not. I will take your suggestions on improvements to our shipping process and value that feedback. We look to provide all customers the best experience possible. My sincere apologies that your experience was not. -Brijette

Shipping is terrible Company located in California, which is great. We live two hours from San Diego, but the online order somehow went to New York. Cancelled the order. This company needs a better shipping system. Apparently USPS sent seeds across country and back.

I started gardening in July 2025. This is my garden bed as of January 2026. The calendula, napa cabbage, early Copenhagen cabbage, dill, daikon radish and purple radish are from them. In the second photo, it’s the Kentucky wonder I sowed in late August. It’s still producing. In my seed tray, I have blue salvia, borage, California bell, white yarrow and etc. in the third photo, it’s the ranunculus that just sprouted. Overall, the germination rates are fantastic. Recently I did encounter germination issues with two types of cabbages and reached out. They replied me with detailed instructions for troubleshooting and offered to replace the seed packets. I’m going to make another attempt before requesting replacements. Whether they germinate successfully or not, I will buy seeds from them for 2026 as long as they have my desired varieties. It’s this kind of service that motivates me want to leave a Google review for the 1st time. And I feel lucky the local nursery carrying their seeds. Before checking out, I always walk to their stands to take a look.

I took the Gardeners Crash Course. Being new to growing anything, I was nervous whether I would be in over my head. Jeff Dillow is an amazing instructor who makes the content "digestible." I was able to follow along and learned much more than expected. The course included our choice of 5 seed packets, starter soil, a growing calendar and more. The course also included video content for continued learning after the in-person class. It was well worth the investment.
