Elvis and his team from SAFEGUARD ROOFING AND BUILDING have just completed renewing the rear roof and extension to my house with slates, replacing old tiled roof. Excellent service from initial quote to completion of the work. Not been easy for them with the atrocious weather we have been having but somehow they managed to find a gap in the rain! Very pleased with the quality of the work, overall cleanliness and would recommend the firm to anybody thinking of having work undertaken. Thank u again to Albert and everyone on the team. I got a few quotes for some work to be done on my fascias and guttering, and Safeguard came back with a very reasonable quote. Once I confirmed I was happy to go ahead, Albert and his team turned up on time. They were very professional throughout and completed the job efficiently and to a very high standard.
I am very pleased I chose Safeguard to carry out the work and will definitely be calling them again for any future jobs.
Would 100% recommend safeguard roofing and building to anyone needing work done, Albert and his team done a wonderful job at a very fair price for the works carried out, was kept in communication the whole time and was very happy with the finished project, again would definitely recommend.
Did not turn up on the appointed day. When contacted said they would call back within 3 hours but never phoned. Were chased again and promised to phone back. Never heard another word from them. Further to my original 1 star review the job was passed by Safeguard to another contractor who phoned out of the blue, called round and then came back on the day they said they would to do the job.
I initially had high hopes for Safeguard based on the reviews. I called on December 4 regarding a roof leak, so there was some urgency. To their credit, Albert came out the very next day, which felt positive at first.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. Albert briefly looked up at the roof from the outside and checked the kitchen leak from inside, but he did not go up to the bathroom on first floor overlooking the roof to properly examine it from above. After only a quick glance, he immediately suggested a very expensive solution - removing all the tiles, replacing the felt, and then putting everything back.
I later had two more roofers inspect the issue more thoroughly. They both actually examined the roof from above and quickly identified a cracked flashing as the likely cause. They also suggested replacing a few cracked tiles as a first step. This approach cost about 10 percent of what Safeguard proposed and resolved the issue. I was disappointed that Albert did not take the extra time to investigate or suggest a more reasonable initial fix.
Albert also promised to send a quote by Monday (8th), which never arrived. I followed up on Tuesday since the leak was ongoing and time mattered. During that call, he was quite brusque and rude. He claimed he had already sent the quote, which was not the case. After checking with the receptionist, I found out it had been sent to the wrong email address (gmail.co.uk - which isn't even a valid domain - instead of gmail.com). There was no apology or acknowledgment of the mistake from Albert.
Overall, I would avoid using Safeguard in the future. The service felt unreliable, communication was poor, and they seemed far too quick to push a large and expensive project instead of thoroughly examining the issue and considering a smaller, more reasonable repair first.
