Took my car in for a misfire issue and was told cylinder 2 had 0 compression and that I needed a full engine replacement. No leak-down test was done to confirm the exact cause of the failure.
I later learned that this test is important to determine whether the issue is a valve or internal engine damage. I feel the diagnosis was incomplete and the recommendation may have been premature.
Make sure to ask for full diagnostic testing before agreeing to major repairs.
We did, in fact, perform a compression test on cylinder 2—that’s literally how we determined there was a mechanical failure in the first place.
A leak-down test can sometimes add more detail, but when a cylinder has zero compression, that’s already about as clear as it gets. At that point, we’re not “guessing”—we’re confirming what’s already obvious.
With 172,000 miles on the engine, finding the exact root cause would require a full teardown. That means more labor, more cost, and no guarantee the outcome would suddenly become simple or inexpensive.
We’re not in the business of running up bills just for the sake of it. We could have easily added more tests, charged you for them, and arrived at the same conclusion—but we chose not to.
Our goal is to be straightforward and save you time and money, even if the answer isn’t what you were hoping for.
We also tried calling to explain all of this. The call was declined, we left a voicemail, and never heard back—so this shouldn’t be new information.

Very fast, efficient service. Pricing is great compared to Honda dealership. I had a poor experience at Lia Honda who supposedly scanned my car and did a thorough check of the electrical system. They weren't able to find a bad coil on cylinder 3 or all 4 loose spark plugs. Roggi's has earned my trust and future business.
Excellent communication, timing, service and follow up. A nice family shop, everyone was proactive and pleasant, they got it done early and called the next day to assure the repair on our Tesla went smoothly. Highly recommend this shop, they are uncommonly good.

As a recent Porsche owner, I looked for a local Indy shop that was qualified to service Porsches. After comparing prices at these local Indy shops, Roggi checked all the boxes and the best price. I had Roggi do a 4 wheel alignment on my vehicle. When I arrived, they immediately brought my car into their service garage and performed the service. My car handles great, the price was reasonable, and Jeff called me the next day to ask how my car was driving. Now that’s what I call great customer service! Having a work van in the shop can be costly not for the work being done on the van but for the downtime of not having a van. These guys made it easy to drop van 9:00 and have it back by end of day.
