Excellent lodgings on a beautiful bay.
I visited Corfu in December 2025 when tourists are few, the air is crisp and fresh, and stars are so bright they look more like planets. This hotel is in a beautiful location along the scenic water’s edge that includes a ‘floating’ church as part of the scenery. I specifically chose this hotel because it has an outstanding heated pool and a quite good workout gym in a glassed-in outdoor room. I have to say though, the most impressive thing about this property is their supremely talented gardener. A man in his 60s who single-handedly maintains the entire extensive landscape, creates the most amazing, precision-cut topiaries. As a landscape garden designer myself, I have never encountered such an impressive topiary artist. He creates straight-edged and curved hedges so perfect, uniform and dense, I first assumed they were vine-covered brick walls. Most amazingly, he does everything completely by eye, without using any plumb lines or leveling devices. I hope they pay him well!
The location of this hotel was great, and it was easy to rent a car and drive around the island of Corfu. The staff were very helpful. We rented one of the villas, which was very roomy and spacious. However, the villa did not look like the pictures on the website, it appears they photographed their villa with the nicest ground and promoted that as all villas, so this is something to be aware of. Further, to get to the villas there is something like 200 plus stairs so you are required to use an elevator to go up. The elevator had a mechanical pulley system and was quite small and rickity. Twice during our stay the elevator was out of order; luckily once we were going down and the other time they brought a golf cart to pick us up. I am surprised it wasn't mentioned in prior reviews. However, I do believe this is one of the nicer hotels on the island, as we heard from a lot of other travellers and taxi drivers.
