We welcomed our beautiful and amazing boy Atlas, our chocolate lab, in October of 2024. We knew that we wanted to have a very well trained, behaved dog because I wanted to take him everywhere I went and as he got a little older, he was a typical lab and full of energy and spunk. We first connected with Matt and Morgan when Atlas was around 4–5 months old. He initially stayed with them for puppy training, and over time returned multiple additional times for more advanced training and boarding. Throughout all of our experiences with them, Matt’s training was excellent. Atlas became the epitome of a very well trained dog, and so much of that was because of the time, consistency, and skill Matt invested into working with him and us. Atlas absolutely loved Matt, and we trusted them deeply with his care. Matt told us on many occasions how much he enjoyed Atlas and how much he reminded him of his old chocolate lab who had passed. I like to think the reason they got another chocolate lab was because of Atlas. The last time that Matt and Morgan trained/boarded Atlas was in March of this year, 2026. We received a call on Monday, March 23, 2026 that no dog parent wants to get. Atlas passed away at 1 year, 5 months, and 22 days old. We were in Hawaii, thousands of miles away, and were devastated. I want to be very clear that we do not blame Matt or Morgan for his passing, nor do we believe they were the cause of his death. Texas A&M determined that he passed from a bacterial infection. Losing him was devastating for our family, but despite the heartbreak of the situation itself, Morgan was incredibly helpful throughout. She assisted with coordinating the necropsy testing, communication, and cremation arrangements during one of the hardest experiences we have ever gone through, and we will always appreciate that compassion and support. Morgan shared tears and grief with me, Matt shared in his own way, and we will always be grateful for them. We know how much Atlas was loved by them as well and it was just an unfortunate thing in this universe. I only share this to show you how compassionate they are and how much they deeply care for their clients and their family members. While we are still very much in grief, we will one day have a little brother for Atlas and I know that when that day comes, Matt will be his other person. For anyone reading this - you would be lucky to have Matt and Morgan.

After reading the reviews on Ridgeside K-9 I was eager to see if they could do for my Coco what they were able to do for so many other pet owners. Coco was re-homed at 9 months and lacked confidence and discipline as a result . For 10 months I tried watching videos and talking to other trainers without success.Their love for dogs is so clear-they even have several well trained pets of their own. What sets them apart is Matt’s ability to explain exactly how dogs and owners can communicate better, making everything feel more intuitive. We sent Coco for their Board and Train. If you want trainers that treat your pet like family while delivering professional results, I highly recommend them! Coco is able to walk loosely on a leash, heels and displays great re-call. A bonus as a result of learning place and her increased confidence she barks so much less when someone rings the door bell! I truly can’t say enough about Matt. Even after training is over he is willing to continue to guide you if you have concerns or need clarification of some sort. The sooner you Seek Matt’s help, the sooner you will be able to fully enjoy your relationship with your pet! Thank you Matt & Morgan!

Matt & Morgan did an amazing job with my guy Gus. I wasn't sure what to expect since he's a one year old 7 pound Brussels Griffon, but wow!!! He sit's so well on command with extended stay as well as walks on his lead like a show dog...lol I think he was kinda sad to leave Matt! Give Ridgeside a shot, you won't regret it.

My dog knew the basics, and doesn’t have any “issues” but I was interested in training for a deeper level of behavior - ie I could never get her to stay still on a patio, or heel when we were anywhere near a park - and ultimately I’d love to volunteer with her as a therapy dog. Now, she sits on elevators, stays in place on patios, and I don’t have to worry about her chasing bikes. I was a little hesitant to train her with an e collar, since she’s so small, but Matt talked me through the philosophy behind using the collar as a form of communication, and made me feel at ease when he went out of his way to make sure she had a comfort pad so the pressure was evenly distributed. Sent our mouthy, unruly 8 month old giant puppy to Ridgeside K9 Austin and we cannot thank Matt and Morgan enough. We should have done this a long time ago. Now our pup is a lot calmer, well trained and has good impulse control. They also stand behind their work and always support us even after the training. Overall, Matt and Morgan are genuinely good people, who are good at what they are doing, love animals and work hard. Ridgeside K9 Austin was the best decision and investment that my husband and I have made in relation to our German Shorthaired Pointer (“GSP”), Mocha. Mocha is 1 and a half years old and recently completed the board and train program at Ridgeside K9 Austin. The program exceeded our expectations and has changed our life. Walking has become so enjoyable in comparison to the constant battle between trying to walk and Mocha pulling. Mocha has been great about adapting to different walking paces, staying on one side and not trying to run off after squirrels, birds, etc. We are able to sit down and enjoy coffee with Mocha in public spaces. I am able to have full conversations with visitors in our house without disruption from Mocha and our recall confidence increases every day. We have as much fun with Mocha as we did before and we give/get as much love to each other as we did before. The difference is that now there are boundaries that make living together so much better. By the way, Mocha had already been through a two-week training as a younger puppy and we even had her go through a second round of training, which consisted of private lessons. Neither made much of a difference. We wish we had known about Ridgeside K9 Austin a long time ago. Two last things that I want to share. We are saving so much money by not having to take Mocha to doggie daycare three times. Finally, if you are on the fence about the board and train program, I give Matt and Morgan my permission to share my phone number so you can call me. We are forever grateful to Matt and Morgan!

We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Ridgeside K9 Austin. Our dog, Odin, was struggling with aggression and anxiety. After completing a four-week intensive training program with Matt, we got back a completely different dog — calmer, more confident, and incredibly obedient. Matt didn’t just train Odin; he trained us too. After the program, he spent nearly five hours working directly with us to make sure we understood how to continue Odin’s progress at home. I cannot recommend Matt and Morgan and their company enough. I sent my 2 dogs, a Chihuahua and an Australian Shepherd to them in November 2024 for 3 weeks for training. They were very anxious and barky dogs. They would lunge during walks and pull the leash and just very reactive. Needless to say, this training changed all that. Their training helped us to prepare for multiple flights that my husband and I were very anxious about taking the dogs on. The flights were such a smooth process and we had no trouble with the dogs at all. We cannot thank them enough for their training the dogs and us, they even checked in on us a day after our flights. We were very impressed with their changed behavior and the time and teaching they gave us. They are still available to us even now many months after.

Ridgeside K9 did absolute wonders for my pup, Onyx! He is a 4yo pit mix with aggressive and anxious behaviors. He had 2 previous trainers give up on him, but that ended up being a blessing in disguise! I needed someone who specialized in working with dogs with aggression and anxiety. Matt and Morgan are amazing and I couldn't be happier with how Onny was brought home! If I had found them earlier, I'm 99.9% sure a lot of his aggressive tendencies wouldn't have escalated to the point they got to. He is the sweetest boy, and I am so happy that they got see how amazing he truly is!
Ridgeside K9 is worth every.single.penny..!! You will never need another trainer after working with them. They guarantee the results for life, so if he (or I) ever needs a refresher, they got us!

Well, what can I say? My words are not enough. First of all, I own a chihuahua..sassy, bossy, very vocal, does what she wants to do....I did a lot of research before I decided. Then we met Matt, a really nice guy with real expectations. He's honest and really loves his work. It was so nice that Matt made sure that we fully understood what the training entailed. Then I met Morgan (via email) just as nice, caring, and fully understood my questions. Matt and Morgan are amazing trainers. Most of all, they care about your pet. That is very important to me. I took Miss Lucy on her first outing with me to my doctors appointment. Very busy lots of distraction. She was AMAZING. The people in the waiting room could not believe that Lucy is a chihuahua! I was there for a few hours and she did everything perfectly. I'm so impressed with Matt and Morgan that I would not trust anyone else with my dog. 5 stars is not enough. From the start, they took incredible care of our Weimaraners, Winston and Walter, and successfully corrected all of their behavioral issues. During their stay, our family faced a health emergency, and the they went above and beyond by keeping our dogs for several additional weeks. I am blown away at the changes I saw in my dog. He was reactive and nervous, barked at anyone that walked by, lunged and barked at other dogs on walks, jumped on people in the house and counter surfed. After a few weeks with Matt he is a better version of himself! He is the same sweet cuddle bug but without the annoying habits. He has turned into a great walker and is generally so much better behaved. I am so grateful to Matt! He and Morgan did a great job communicating with me. I really felt valued and listened to. and clearly Matt is obsessed with dogs! Thank you Matt!

Matt and Morgan were an outstanding duo for our adopted Malinois, Ivy. We didn’t know what to expect with her, but Matt and Morgan made Ivy’s transition into our family seamless. My husband and I just got our one-year-old cavapoochon Maggie back from Matt and Morgan at Ridgeside K9 in Austin after about a month of training. They have been an absolute God-send as before we were struggling with basic obedience and in-home manners like jumping and barking. When they brought Maggie back yesterday she was like a different dog in the best way possible while still maintaining her sweet and lovable personality. This is by far the best investment we’ve made into Maggie and we loved how Matt and Morgan sent us update photos and a summary of progress almost every day throughout the process. Huge shout out to these beautiful souls. Matt and Morgan both spent a lot of time answering inquiries and questions we had as we started looking for training for our girls. The time and dedication they showed with us not even committing to them was a huge green flag for us to move forward. This team has been the best thing for our family to enjoy our pups within our home with obedience while still letting our dogs be dogs! We had 4 weeks of boarding training for our girls and we had photos and progression updates along the way! When they came home was our biggest eye opener. Not just what the girls had learned (and capable of cause let's be honest.. I was not expecting these results in our girls this quick) but the education that Matt provided for myself, my husband, and my 7 year old was huge. Really opened my eyes that everything we were trying to accomplish was not being obtained because we were not communicating with our dogs properly.
