Our dog, Rocky, just completed Ridgeside K9’s 3-week Board & Train program, and we truly cannot say enough wonderful things about our trainer, Danny.
A little backstory: We unexpectedly lost the dog who was the heart and soul of our family. Shortly after, we adopted Rocky—a puppy who looked almost identical to her—in hopes of helping heal our broken hearts. As much as we loved him, life with four young kids, two cats, and a busy household quickly became overwhelming. Rocky was your typical hound puppy: jumping on the kids, chasing the cats, pulling on the leash, barking, and constantly testing boundaries. We found ourselves wondering if we’d made the right decision and knew we needed help.
After a recommendation from a coworker, I reached out to Ridgeside K9 and specifically requested Danny. Looking back, that was one of the best decisions we’ve made. Danny was incredibly accommodating, even working with our schedule to pick Rocky up before a planned vacation so he could complete the full three-week program.
From day one, Danny exceeded every expectation. He is kind, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about both the dogs and their families. Every single day, he sent updates, photos, and videos showing Rocky’s progress and explaining exactly what they had worked on. It gave us so much confidence knowing Rocky was in such capable and caring hands.
Now that Rocky is home, the transformation has been incredible. Instead of spending much of his time in a crate or puppy pen, he can relax and roam the house with supervision. Walks are enjoyable, he’s much calmer around the kids and cats, and he’s become such a pleasure to have as part of our family. The training has truly given Rocky the opportunity to thrive, and it’s made life so much more enjoyable for all of us.
One of the things we appreciate most is that the support doesn’t end when the training does. Danny has continued to be available whenever we have questions, and knowing we can reach out anytime is invaluable. We truly feel like we’re all on Team Rocky.

We had been putting off training for our 8 years old Goldendoodle for no good reason, but are so happy we did not put it off any longer. He needed to learn leash walking skills for reactivity and how to be more calm inside for greetings and window watching. We were instantly put at ease by Bernie when he picked up Cooper and he naturally warmed to him and listened. We received daily updates with photos and videos so we could see his progress. Cooper was in great hands with his entire family and always had someone to work with including Ashley! This was comforting to us. When Cooper came back, we saw an instant calm and change in his behavior. We worked with Bernie to discuss what he worked on and how we will integrate it into our daily lifestyle. We needed help with our year old Shih Tzu, Jonah, and Zach really worked wonders with him during a 3-week board and train. Not only accomplished a lot to improve his behavior but I could tell our little Jonah had an AMAZING time with Zach. I loved seeing the daily updates and could tell Jonah was treated with great care like he was Zach’s own dog. Definitely earned our trust and the experience was excellent and a great value.

We have a Belgian malinois who was very protective of our immediate family and home. She also was tough to walk due to constant pulling. She is extremely smart and responsive to training. She had police patrol training but was being abused by the trainers (we got her as a rescue, so very little information as to her history.) We found Ridgeside K-9 and after listening to the entire story, they put us in contact with the training team of Brandi and Perry Bailey. They not only had extensive experience with malinois, but have one themselves.
They welcomed us and gave both a tour of their facility and an overview of how the training would go. Our dog went through the 3-week board and train program. We received daily updates, which made us relaxed about her being away for so long. We could see the progression through the pictures.
When it came to reacclimating her to us, Perry spent over 5 hours in our home teaching us what we needed to know and then having us practice working with the dog to ensure understanding. It was obvious the mastery of training dogs that the Baileys have. It is amazing to see the attentiveness and the way our dog waits for the command. You can see the internal struggle of having to wait, but she does. 😀
I can't speak highly enough of how they treated us and trained our dog. We will use them again if the opportunity presents itself. This training team is highly recommended.

Good afternoon, this is more of a testimonial to James and his company than a simple review. I rescued a Husky/sheppard mix in November of last year. I became severely ill and hospitalized in February. It looked impossible to keep him due to his energy and some of his behaviors. My pup has never been aggressive or mean. He was jumpy and curious, he also developed a mating problem. As a teacher I don’t have much to set aside, but I did not want to put him in a shelter. When Frankie was born during COVID, he became extremely protective of his human mom. If he knew and liked you, he was the sweetest, funniest, most loving little pup imaginable. But when people entered our home or came too close to his mom, Frankie saw himself as security personnel and took his job very seriously.
