I had a great experience today with Brian Levy as the instructor. The class was organized with plenty of hands on practicals until my confidence was felt and visible.

I’ve taken multiple First Aid/CPR/AED courses as a caregiver over the decades and Haddia is the first instructor to make me actually enjoy the class! I wasn’t expecting this. The difference? Her extensive knowledge of how body systems work together and profound understanding of research. I walked away knowing basics in WHY we do things, not just, “Do this, so you can get your certificate and we can all go home.” Haddia is passionate, that almost feels like a generic thing to say, because it doesn’t quite capture the essence of her clear love for people, and I’m certain, a background in high level medical training.
She made sure each person had the hands-on practice needed to be able to really get the skill. It’s not a checklist to her, or the way she runs her class, it’s about grasping the humongous importance of the first few minutes of a medical emergency and the difference good skills can make in saving a life and potentially reducing as much body systems damage as possible.
Haddia would individually asses and fine-tune each class member with her recommendations and corrections. Again, I’ve experienced this with other instructors, the difference is her profound level of experience and knowledge, enthusiasm, questions, humor, praise, and ability to explain in ways helping each person develop the tangible first aid skills, along with seeing how the skills fit together to help the body systems. For example, how chest compressions help blood circulate throughout the body and the importance of the AED in restarting or resetting the electricity in the heart when it’s done quickly. Also, the difference between an infant’s airway compared to an adult’s, and the way compressions and head-tilting slightly differs in airway obstruction emergencies, especially ways to specifically hold an infant to move between back blows and flipping the infant safely and quickly for a round of chest compressions. *Note this isn’t medical advice, definitely refer to the official course materials and class instructions.
The building isn’t fancy, (it doesn’t need to be IMO), yet the equipment is clean and the small classroom has soft foam tiles on the floor to make the hands-on portions of the course with the first aid dummies and baby dolls a bit more comfortable to kneel and sit on for everyone.
You are lucky IMO to get a class with Haddia and I hope when it’s time to renew my certification I get the pleasure of being instructed by her again! She’s such a special and caring instructor!

Very quick and the trainer made everything feel relaxed and easy. It was only me and 1 other person in the class so I was a bit nervous but rest assured, I passed and I would highly recommend to my coworkers and friends. I even learned a few tips and tricks that they don’t normally teach you in a BLS class which will really come in handy.
