I wish we never went with this group! Two of my close family members retained this firm for legal representation and were both assigned to Meg as their attorney. In each case, the level of advocacy and professionalism fell well below reasonable expectations. Rather than actively representing her clients’ interests, she repeatedly stated that there were no viable legal options available and made no meaningful effort to challenge or negotiate positions taken by the opposing parties. Subsequently, after consulting with other attorneys, it became clear that additional legal avenues were in fact available, directly contradicting the advice provided by Meg. This raises significant concerns regarding either a lack of diligence or a failure to adequately pursue the clients’ interests. Additionally, her communication style was often condescending and dismissive, which only compounded an already stressful legal situation. Clients seek legal counsel for guidance, advocacy, and protection, particularly in sensitive matters involving family and custody. Unfortunately, neither of those expectations were met. Despite substantial legal fees, little to no effective advocacy was provided, and the outcomes appeared to consistently favor the opposing parties without resistance. Based on these experiences, I would strongly caution anyone considering Buchanan Law Firm to thoroughly research alternative representation before retaining their services.

I retained Buchanan Law Firm and paid approximately $26,000 in legal fees with the expectation of active representation and meaningful progress on my case. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. At the time, I was active duty U.S. Marine Corps, serving on a Drill Instructor tour, which is an extremely demanding assignment with limited personal availability. I made this clear from the beginning and relied heavily on my legal team to manage the case responsibly while I fulfilled my military obligations. Instead, after my payment was made, communication became inconsistent and required repeated follow-ups on my end. Deadlines passed with little to no explanation, and there was no measurable progress that reflected the amount I paid. Given my duty status, I trusted that my case was being handled, only to later realize it was not. I can’t help but feel that my circumstances as an active duty Marine, combined with my limited ability to be hands-on, were taken advantage of, whether intentionally or through neglect. Despite the significant fees paid, I am still divorced, with no meaningful outcome or resolution to show for the representation. What was most frustrating was the lack of transparency and accountability. Requests for updates, strategy explanations, and clear next steps went largely unanswered. Ultimately, I had to seek help elsewhere after months of lost time and substantial financial harm. I’m sharing this review so others, especially service members, can make an informed decision. If you consider working with this firm, I strongly recommend getting clear expectations in writing, frequent status updates, and detailed billing explanations from the outset Notes: My case went on for two years with Rebecca and Bonnie.
