I had a great experience with Ralph Mann & Sons. Our central air conditioning unit stopped working in the late afternoon on a hot day. Jake Dodge from Ralph & Sons came out to our house after his shift was finished, on his way home from a long work day. Jake quickly found the issue, went back to the shop to get the necessary fuse. Shortly after he left, the AC stopped working again due to a bad fuse. Jake was at our house early the next morning and fixed the unit and this time, the fuse was good. Our house is cool again, and the work area was left spotless. Ralph Mann & Sons did not charge me as I bought the unit just about one year ago. I love this company and I highly recommend their friendly neighborhood treatment!"

Not honest company and lag workmanship
Technician could not find a leak in AC for the new Ac unit installed 2 years ago . Charged high labor cost and not able to find any leak even though installed by them 2 years ago . Spent 2k on service calls with no issue fixed . Installed lame thermostat without even asking customer and had to replace again. This is not a honest company and do not recommend to anyone.

Simply put, Ralph Mann & Sons is the best HVAC service we have ever used in our 35 years of living in our home. They are professional, show up when they say they will, and work to repair your existing system. They do not try to upsell you to a new furnace, or air conditioner. Disappointed in ducted heat pump recommendation
I am disappointed in the advice and thought that salesman Dan put into recommending that I install a heat pump system in my house in Feb 2025. I had seen ads recommending heat pumps from multiple HVAC contractors, so I bought into the idea that this would make my home more energy efficient and therefore save money in the long run, as well as make my home more sellable. It also seemed sensible, as I already had A/C ducts for my aging central air unit. However, my 1994-built raised-ranch has cathedral ceilings over the LR, DR and kitchen, and the heat-pumped heat coming out of them during cold weather months left me dealing with cold floors and a basement of 52 degrees F and lower. I kept the thermostat at 64 degrees F during the daytime when home and 62 degrees F at night, and still had winter UI electricity bills of $411, $530 and $783! In previous winters, my combined natural gas and electric bills were $100-$300 less per month, and I was more comfortable. While I can't blame Dan and the heat pump installers for the extra cold past winter, I can blame them as HVAC professionals for not considering that heat coming from cathedral ceiling air ducts would tend to evaporate upwards. Why didn't they recommend a ductless heat pump system or air to water heat pump, as the house already had a system of pipe radiators from the previous natural gas furnace/hot water heating system? I should have done more due diligence research on heating systems but my furnace broke down in mid-winter 2025, and I had liked the prices and customer service I got from Ralph Mann & Sons when they serviced my old furnace in previous years. I will note that Melissa was wonderful to work with when I made payments and waited for the CT and UI rebates after installing the heat pump.

We cannot say enough good things about this company. We have dealt with Melissa and Wendy in the office and they've always been quick to help and given us fair pricing. Kevin and several other techs have done maintenance on our geothermal systems and done great work. We had the systems installed by another vendor and there had been issues since day one. The other vendor had numerous techs look at the issue and had not solved it. Kevin was able to spot the issue quickly--it was a basic design flaw that caused back flow to occur. He took the time to explain what was happening and made the correction for us so now the system is working as it should have been all along.
UPDATE: Since this initial review where they fixed my geothermal systems, I have used them to do routine maintenance on the boiler (which we use for hot water and back up heat). They've done great work there as well--fixing things that were neglected by others. On all occasions, they stand by their work and make sure the work is done right the first time.
I highly recommend them for any type of HVAC work and know they will get the work done at a fair price. With regard to geothermal, they truly are knowledgeable and you will be well served by them.

Our HVAC system bit the dust (residential, 2700 sq ft house w oil/hot air and AC, built in 1998). We had estimates from 5 different contractors ranging from $15k - $20k. RM&S came in at ~$18k, but proposed that we replace what we had with a combination of oil/hot air and an air-source heat pump. They were the only ones to propose this solution and they explained that CT would provide a $4k rebate and the bank would provide a 0.9% interest loan over 7 yrs. with this solution. That brought the cost down to $14k and a killer loan. After some research to validate the proposal, it became clear that it was a "no brainer". A state of the art system which would also save us between $100-$200 mos was icing on the cake.
They held our hands through the entire process of rebate and loan, and showed up exactly on schedule. The techs were super cordial and accommodating and were in and out in a day and a half. There is absolutely nothing could have gone any better in their master class of customer service. My special thanks to Melissa who was all over this project like white on rice.

I have been a customer of Ralph Mann and Sons Inc. for several years, during which time the Company has performed routine maintenance tasks as well as HVAC upgrades for my 1940’s era home. These upgrades included installation of an energy efficient heat pump, an extension of baseboard heating in an existing room, replacement of a gas water heater one day following my request for service, and replacement of an old, defective and obsolete boiler expansion tank with one that is modern and trouble-free. The HVAC technicians were professional in every aspect of their services, were prompt and efficient in completing the tasks, took precautions to minimize disruption, and left the work areas clean and free of rubbish. The fees for services and equipment are very reasonable. I will not hesitate to rely on Ralph Mann and Sons for any of my future HVAC needs, and I recommend them in superlative terms without hesitation or reservation.

Our furnace stopped working on one of the first cold days of winter. We called, and someone was at our house within about two hours. The technician was friendly, professional, and quickly diagnosed the issue. He was able to repair the furnace in about an hour, which was a huge relief.
