I wanted to get some services done; like water pump and timing chain. Easy, huh? Well, they want to charge me a diagnostic fee. For what I said; I just want you to upgrade these parts for me. Well, he said, we need to see what else needs to be done or if any other parts are broken. REALLY?!? Just change those parts. I wonder what kind of diagnostic fee is there for an oil change?
Quality Import Service recently serviced my wife's car, and the experience was exceptional. They were transparent, clearly explaining necessary repairs and identifying items that could briefly wait. The work was completed perfectly, and their customer service was truly top-tier. I highly recommend them!
The worst of all worlds... a debilitating car issue when you've just started on a long road trip with paid reservations at the destination.
I managed to limp into this shop while constantly adding coolant for a leak that developed while on the highway. Kip was frank with me about my options but did everything he could to help me get the issue fixed.
When it was apparent that parts couldn't arrive in time and I needed to grab a rental to make it all the way out to Maine by the next evening, Kip and his whole staff were flexible and understanding with my needs to transfer gear over to the rental and to hold my vehicle until I could return the following week.
I was also impressed by the thoroughness of their inspection of the vehicle without the aggressive upsell on potential additional work.
In short, QIS went out of their way to make sure that my long planned vacation still happened despite the worst of circumstances and for that they have my gratitude.

I was having problems with my 2004 VW beetle's transmission. I did not know where to take it for repair, but a friend suggested QIS. I took his advice and was treated very nice. They advised me as to what was needed and explained what it would cost. They did a very good job, and I am very satisfied. After a week or so they even called to see if I had any complaints or problems with their work. This is definitely a great place to take your import car. Give them a try.

I had to have my mechatronics changed out in my car, and I had a better than expected experience. The car was fixed earlier and came with no other issues. They also called later on to confirm if my car was still working adequately or not.

Are no stars an option?
WORST service I’ve ever been given. Lots of, “Oh, we will call you back.” A week later I’m calling AGAIN to see what’s going on. Never any answers. When I finally did get an answer, I must’ve gotten false diagnosis some 6 times. $3000 later, and calling a BILLION times, I finally got my car back. All was well. Or so I thought. Exactly a MONTH later, check engine light comes back with the SAME codes. I call them, again several times. They take the car, CLEAR THE CODES. At this point, I rarely drive it to avoid problems. CODES come back a few weeks later. I call, they say they will call me back. AGAIN. I’m so sick of fighting with these people for them to do the right thing. They are selfish and will be good to you until they get your car, then it’s all down hill from there.

We have taken our personal fleet of german vehicles to Kipp at QIS for years now. Their communication is great! And they do their best to work you in their schedule as quick as possible. It is no secret that German vehicles can be complex and expensive to service. Communication was great, before, during and after the service. Kipp the mechanic did great work, everything is running smoothly. Was very upfront about pricing and what the service would entail. Great to have a place like QIS in Elkhart for foreign cars whose parts aren’t easy to get. Receptionist was also super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.
Kip and the ladies at Quality Import Service were fast, friendly, and efficient. They called me every step of the way as they worked on my son’s BMW 328 I, explaining the issue they found, the solution and then cost in a way that was understandable to a non mechanical person, showing patience and I have to admit they were the first shop to work on a vehicle for me and call later to check that the vehicle was not having any problems after they worked on it. I would recommend them to anyone who needs their BMW or other foreign vehicle worked on. Thanks for all your business did to get my son but on the road.

Tried to get help with a problem that requires a specialty tool and was turned away because I would be providing my own new replacement part - would have been happy to pay a very fair rate for labor but I guess this shop doesn’t like to help the members of their community with a quick hand.
Don't hesitate to take your car to Quality Import Service. They're professional,qualified and very fair pricing. I had them Service my Mercedes S580 and I'll never take it back to Gurley Leep. Give them a try you want regret it.
