If you're smart, beware... Found out about this company from Dave Ramsey's Smart Vestor Pro program. There's a reason TRPG is not part of that program anymore. Background: I have money in my my kids' PC529 plans that I manage the investments on. I am ignorant of the market and just picked some funds that looked like they would pay well. On 2023, my portfolio earned something like 25% which was great. My TRPG portfolio earned 13% that year. I was miffed. I asked my advisor Rob O'Blennis about the difference and as he went over the numbers, he glossed over why my investments with him did so poorly compared to the market (and my personal investments). When I questioned deeper, and it took some time to pull it out of him, I was shown how a chunk of my money was put into a horribly sketchy investment that actually lost money (in a year with the S&P 500 went up 24%). Rob told me (maybe he shouldn't have) that ALL their advisors were required to put money into this fund. I no longer had money in that fund, but, in the end, cost me $7k in the process. I'm ignorant of the market but I'm not ignorant of fiduciary responsibility. Putting my money in a fund like that is something I would have never agreed to. Having a company policy of "every account must have money put into this fund" sounds like there is some grift going on. I immediately started researching a new advisor and found some but I thought I'd give Rob a chance. He did a great job and I thought everything was going well (now that they weren't wasting my money in horrible investments). We never had a problem and got along well. Regardless, fast forward, two years later. I get a call that Rob is firing me as a client. He said "I'm getting old and can pick and choose which clients we work with and I'm choosing those with less friction" - which, to me, means "I'd like to work with morons that don't question our investments or the boss's demands to invest in crap". Granted, there are plenty of my opinions in this review - but the facts are facts. Rob, you cost me tens of thousands of dollars and, after I forgave you, I got fired for questioning your actions. (I'm not sure if TRPG gets feedback here but Rob might respond that I got fired for calling his assistant a bimbo (in an email she should have never seen) but that was almost 10 years ago ... and the thing she did was ridiculously stupid - even after that Rob made me apologize)
